Artificial sweeteners give me migraines so why can't you use sugars. I use Boost for a protein drink and it isn't sugar free.

I am had my surgery on 4/11, and just had my one week check up and I’m down only 6lbs. I’m feeling a bit disappointed, I was hoping for more. :-( Is this normal?

When I reach 110 kg and I could not shed it whith dieting I’ve decided that I I need all the help I can get. I started looking In bariatric surgeries and I fed all I could find for two weeks. Then I decided to have the bariatric surgery so I went to the doctor and he told me that I qualify for a gastric sleeve. Next week I had all the investigations done and was scheduled for surgery very quickly, after just another week. I had the surgery on 3rd of April and I stayed in the hospital for three days. The first day in ATI was pure hell not because I felt any pain but because I was very very nauseous from the naso-gastric tube they inserted. The second day I was moved …

Anybody with Hashimotos that can share your success or struggles with the sleeve? I travel today to Vegas and will be sleeved on Thursday, 4/25 at Blossom Bariatrics. Hashimotos plus menopause has made it impossible to lose weight- despite diet, exercise, medical weight loss drugs. I’m so hopeful that this will provide the missing tool. I’m not afraid of pain or hard work. I have lost 26 pounds in the last 5 weeks (only needed to do 2 weeks of preop diet but I thought I’d start as soon as they gave me the diet). I’ve done 2 Protein Shakes and one lean and green meal a day. Maybe averaged 700 calories a day. Anyway I’d love to hear your experiences! HW: 244 CW: 218GW: 140…

Who has been diagnosed with this and how has it been treated? I've been experiencing it occasionally and will ask about it at my appointment on Friday but it doesn't seem like there is much to be done in the way of treatment. Does it tend to resolve itself over time? I'm just now experiencing this at 6 months out.

I lost 40# before and 40# which is all great but I’d really like to lose 30-40 more. I have no problem going slow but I’ve been plateaued since 6 months post-surgery. I’ve tried everything I can think of eating more (NUT recommended 1200-1300 cal) eating less (900-1000 cal) focusing on protein (60-100g) eating more balanced (33% - 33% - 33%) Nothing has worked! I’m just stuck gaining and losing the same 4lbs since end of August.

Hi everyone! I am currently almost 10 weeks post op and have hit a stall for the last two weeks. I'm trying so hard not to get disheartened but I dont know what to do. I FINALLY feel that my stomach has healed and am really trying to get my water in and my protein as much as I can. I also work out about 4 times a week if I can. Does anyone have any advice? I've introduced carbs into my diet but never go over 25 carbs a day...and my calorie intake stays around 700 or lower normally. Any help or guidance would be great.

  8. Hey all. Excited to finally have it done but post op has been tougher than expected. Ended up hacking and throwing up little blood clots most of the night. Foam was tough to deal with. Tried to drink water to deal but hard to keep it down. Tried to get up to do first walk and got really dizzy and kind of passed out for a bit. Feeling a tiny bit better now - anyone else have these issues?

I really need a perspective on whether or not to have s sleeve. Bmi is 32. Weigh 200. 5'6" have 40# to lose. Already approved. Now having second thoughts. Not because of short term issues like pain, nausea, tiredness. really concerned about success after 2 years. I hear so many people commenting on revisions. Weight gain, etc. I'm trying to lose with weight watchers. It's a toss up of the sleeve vs liposuction in my tummy area. And arms. For contouring. Any comments appreciated. Question. For sleevers out 2 years and more, would u do it all over again

I had gastric sleeve surgery about 2 years ago. I have spasms in my lower back and the sleeve. When I get stressed out, the spasms get worse and they cause really bad pain. They also found an MRI with two disc bulges in the back. I was wondering if anyone on this forum has heard of Somatic symptom disorder. Like a psychological pain that causes these spasms. I also had radio frequency ablation and wish to know if anyone could offer advice.

Hey everyone hope you are all doing well and dropping those pounds. I was just curious how everyone was doing that got surgery in December of 2018. I would love to hear some updates and how everything is going. I had my surgery done by Dr. Marc Leduc. He works at the surgical weight control center in Las Vegas. I had my surgery done at Desert Springs Hospital. I had my surgery on Dec 10th 2018, so just under 4 months ago and I have lost 109 pounds so far. I'm loving the results!

I keep seeing descriptions of surgery protocols that are very different. I am sure that mine for example is completely different than what is done in US. Maybe it would be interesting for those that are pre op to know the details so here it goes: Romanian protocols: 1. Initial meeting with surgeon that consults you and says if you might qualify for WLS; 2. 1 day full of blood tests, abdominal echograph, abdominal endoscopy, barium abdominal rays, body composition, cardiology (EKG and blood pressure, BP under physical effort , pulmonary tests (spirometry, rays), nutrition and psychological consult; 3. Surgeon consult when he determines if and what type of WLS is re…

Veteran Sleevers (anyone doing this more than one month ) Please I am in desperate need of suggestions for protein that is not super sweet and contains milk. I can't take much more - I feel awful after drinking protein shakes - I have endured them b/c of the high protein yield, but no mas! My only solace has been the Unjury Chicken soup, but there has to be something else I can try. I received a sample from my RD of Premier Protein Clear (don't recall which flavor - perhaps Tropical Punch) that tasted disgusting - maybe I just got the wrong flavor. Any and ALL suggestions are welcome. Thank you all in advance for your help. EB

I do no want to have gastric bypass which is what is recommended sometimes if you have gerd. I've read where it's not such a problem for some people. Comments are appreciated

Wondering if many still use their CPAP Machine and take Blood Pressure Meds after surgery? Did your surgeon advise you to still use medicine after surgery and did they have you to get another sleep study done. If the surgery is a success I would think that these things are no longer in use.

  27. Omg y’all. Tonight my husband and I sat down for dinner. We shared an order of general tso. I ate two bites of egg roll, two balls of chicken and prob a 1 1/2 tbls spoon of rice. Number one, poor choice in a high fat dinner, was hungry so ate too fast and ate too much apparently. Suddenly I felt this sudden nausea hit me hard!! Feels terrible and like the food comes all the way up to my throat. I am 10 mos out and haven’t over ate before....guess this is what it feels like?!! Omg horrible. How long til this goes away?!!! I have not thrown up but feel nauseous.

Ugh! I am 15 days post op and I did a bad thing and I hate myself for it. I ate half of my kids kinder surprise egg and I feel terrible. Physically and mentally. I melted it on my mouth but why did I have to do that?! I am reading forums and blogs to see what happens and if anyone has ever done it but looks like I am the only big mouth that couldn’t stay away. Please tell me it’ll be ok.

So I had the sleeve on the 17 of December 2018. I have lost a lot. 151 since November 5, which was when I started the pre-op diet. My calorie intake has went up a bit, but I’m never over 1500 and they are healthy calories. My exercise routine has went up drastically however. Over 15000 steps every day which include lots of hiking. Over the last two weeks not have I only not lost, but I have actually gained 1 pound. Has anyone had an experience like this, and ideas what’s going on? I’m still at 374 pounds so I have a lot still lose.

  33. Today I’m 15 days post op. Supposed to move up to purée. (No chance in heck I’m trying) every single thing I put in my mouth feels like it just sits in my esophagus and I belch until I vomit it up. Doesn’t matter what it is. Water broth shakes, sugar free popsicles, power aide zero. ?? plz tell me this won’t be the rest of my life? I literally haven’t kept anything down in 3 days. Not that I’m hungry but I know I need it.

I ordered a six month supply of Barimelt vitamins, and they haven't worked out for me. I just don't like chewables. But I don't want these to go to waste! If you can't afford vitamins please send me a message and I'll send them to you. I live in Forest Grove, Oregon so if you live nearby we could meet up and i could get them to you. If I am going to send them to you I would appreciate $20 via venmo to cover shipping, but if you can't do that it's not a big deal. I mostly just don't want these to go to waste. I have multivitamin, iron, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B and calcium.

Hello all! Considering gastric sleeve. Curious to know about any “self pay” experiences, avg cost, was it what you expected? Did the doc/staff/financial people communicate well? Also- does everyone have to do a sleep study, pre procedure items, or are some of those waived in certain instances. I have been in counseling, on a VLCD for 5 yrs without success, and age 30, considered “low BMI”surgical candidate. I wouldn’t think I would need a psych evaluation and a sleep study. Want to save $$$. Any thoughts???

I’m following my diet plan as suggested by my nutritionist and surgeon but it’s getting annoying . I wake up one weight go to sleep higher . I’ve been trying to walk as much as possible . Am I doing something wrong ?

I have a hospital indemnity policy with Aflac and I was wondering if anyone has filed a claim with them for either the sleeve or the bypass. I know they consider weightless surgery as a cosmetic, but obviously I am doing it because of health issues. So far they have been good with reimbursing me for up to six visits and other test etc. but they weren't to clear when I asked about weight loss surgery. Thank you in advance!

I am 10 days post op and I have had ZERO issues. Even in the hospital things moved along smoothly. Maybe it’s my own head just expecting it but I feel like this should be more complicated. Anyone else just have a fantastic experience? The worst pain I’ve had is from the blood thinner injections. Swelling and bruising that just won’t quit. Even nausea, I’m expecting that to kick in any moment. I know so many people struggle and I guess I have psyched myself out. Anyone else have smooth transitions?

  43. I've heard about the 4 week stall, but I'm only 11 days out from surgery... could I have stalled already?!! I haven't lost anything in 6 days now, which is completely insane because I'm maybe taking in 200 calories a day on this liquid diet. Can someone tell me this happened to them too and it will pass? I was prepared for the 4-week stall; I wasn't prepared to get discouraged this quickly! (And I'm insanely jealous of all the people I'm reading about that are 20-30-40 lbs down already!!!) I’m also secretly concerned that my doc took me off my metformin (insulin resistance) - which has been my biggest barrier to weight loss in the past. Anyone else that had IR but ha…

  44. So I've noticed that first thing in the mornings, I feel full. Not "not hungry", but kinda full. By the time I'm done getting ready in the morning it lessens enough that I can start drinking water on my way into work. I practice IF so I don't eat until around noon each day. I have also noticed that sometimes I even get "full" cues first thing in the morning- mostly a runny nose, but sometimes sneezing and sometimes hiccups. Does anyone else experience that? I'm curious about the cause. I used to think it was swelling or something, but I'm 6 months post-op now, so it can't be swelling!
