?????????????????? 17 months since surgery. Current weight 156lbs. Right in my BMI range but lately Up and down trying to find maintenance. No easy task. Food choices remain the same although I may take a short break from yogurt for a while. Labs for my 1.5 yr check up soon. I plan to discuss with my surgeon reflux, bowel movements, sleeve capacity and maintenance. The next time I see them will be at 2 yr mark or after so i plan to get guidance ahead of time. Noteworthy: Finally told a few important people about my surgery, met an AMAZING new friend (you know who you are ??) & experienced the beach with a bikini. No regrets at all. ??????…

I had the sleeve surgery 3-27 and am looking for some guidance. I am in a lot of pain all the time. I didn't expect it to be this painful. I'm worried something is wrong. I've been through 2 c-sections and neither one even came close to this pain level. My doc sent me for labwork to rule out a leak and everything looked good but I'm still worried. Is it supposed to hurt this much? Drinking/eating is very painful. The gas pain is even worse. I walk as much as I can and I've been burping and farting for nearly 2 days and it feels like the gas will never leave. Lol I'm also wondering if this pain I feel is hunger pain. Would that hurt this much? I can't test my theory becaus…

I want to say thanks so much to everyone that has helped me along the journey of getting my surgery and now post-op. I'm having a problem with a pain in my stomach. It's not constant. It comes and just is a big ache and subsides. When it comes it makes me moan and I feel silly, but it's nothing I have ever felt before. Any ideas? I've had a cat scan, and upper GI. I don't think it's serious, but it is nothing fun. I ate tuna tonight and have burning in my throat. First time in a very long time.

Hi everyone! So it’s been awhile since I’ve been on here. I had the lapband for 9 years and did amazing! Until I needed emergency surgery to have it removed ? that was two years ago...I’ve gained all my weight back! I was wondering what is your experience from going to the band to sleeve? Pros and cons? Thank you

I was sleeved 3.27.19 - I also had a Hiatal hernia repaired. This was the source of an enormous amount of pain. I had very little in the way of pain both internally and incision site otherwise. I found that using a compression band was very helpful in terms of my mobility. I also wore compression socks at night along with the band. Today I continue week two of my full liquids phase - and it suuuuuuuucks. I AM HUNGRY. I am also disappointed b/c I looked forward to the whole hormonal absence no appetite thingie. That is not the case for me. I follow very strictly the diet/timeline provided me by my doctor and I don't find it fulfilling or …

I am only a couple months out, but my first 8 weeks I was on pantoprazole to help with staple line healing. After 8 weeks they stop but I immediately started to get heartburn that kept me up all night and I couldn't eat anything because it hurt. I had never had heartburn before surgery. I am back on the pantoprazole for a few months, and I am hoping I can try to ween myself off slowly and get to a place where I don't need to depend on it. Has anyone else had a similar situation? Did your reflux get better? This was one of my biggest concerns with getting wls was reflux. I am scared I am going to need a revision [emoji20]

I could drink them BEFORE the surgery. Thought they tasted horrible, but I could do it. Post surgery, they go through me so fast...it's like lightning. For hours. The only thing which seems to not is meat and pineapple (I know...but it's the only thing which makes me poop regularly). I've tried every kind and brand. Whey, soy, all veggie, bone...the sports drink kind (still whey)...nothing works. I cannot be absorbing what I need if they are blazing through me like that. HELP!

So far so good and looking forward to my soft foods phase however I will not go out and buy a lot of groceries this time. I will add some things that I would like to try and keep going with what I have. Some things are still hard to get down. I guess the best way to look at it is try new things see what works and what doesn’t but then understand that there are no time limits and you can always come back to eating what you have later. I’m realizing I’m about to save a lot of money.

I am 67 days post-OP and only 25 pounds down since surgery. That makes a total of 95 pounds down total, but I have a long way to go, as I was 399 when I started this weight loss journey. I'm a little discouraged by the slow pace of my post-op weight loss. I keep telling myself that slow and steady wins the race , blah, blah, blah, but I thought it would come off a lot faster. I have been following the plan, but the Easter candy is starting to look so tempting. I was told that right after surgery, you couldn't help but lose weight. That it would just drop off. Well I was losing about a pound a day for two weeks or so and then I had a two week stall. I even gained 5 p…

well I did begin to have my gastric sleeve surgery on 11/05/2018. On the table .knocked out with anesthesia .Awaken by nurses telling me. They were not able to do the surgery. they informed me that they could not introduce the laroscopy where it needed to be to begin the surgery. The doctors said they tried for 45 minute. even called in ENT to try. Neck just wouldn't bend. (my neck is fused, due to spinal surgery due to polio} I was so extremely depressed. So I had to begin all over again. with a Doctor I was referred to. Dr. Katkhouda @ Keck USC. next week I complete my nutrition classes AGAIN. I'm scheduled again May 7th 2019. Please l…

Hi everyone! First time posting. I’m super excited that I’ve made the decision to get VSG surgery. I’m located in Orange County, CA and have visited two different doctors. One is Dr. Oliak in Brea. The other is West Medical in Long Beach. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with West Medical (I’ve seen lots of great info on Oliak)? I’ll be going the self-pay route if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!!

I have had no energy at all yesterday and today! I'm 8 weeks out. Average water intake is 108oz, protein range 78-128oz, calories 650-800. Have been walking every day, getting about 7500 steps daily right now. Pooping every other day, taking all my vitamins and minerals. What gives? Yesterday and today I hit what felt like a physical wall - like I just couldn't walk another step. A bit like the early post-surgery days, actually. I'm baffled - anyone else had this??

I was sleeve on 3/26. On surgery day, I was 327.6. At home, I was at 333, which I understood was from the IV fluids. I was on Clear for a week and now I’m on full liquids until I follow up with my surgeon on 04/08, then I start my puréed phase. So far I loss 10 lbs and I’m disappointed with the weightloss. I admit I not the best at getting my water intake in I’m only taking 20+ oz never 64. On a typical day, I drink 2 premier protein, so I get 60 g of protein and for dinner it’s some sort of soup/broth. Sometimes I eat a SF jello or SF popsicle as a snack. I try walk atleast 5 miles throughout the day. Yet the scale isn’t moving below 316 now. I am not taking any medicati…

Hey everyone just curious to see how much everyone can eat, the quantity I can eat has increased over the past few months and depending on what I’m eating I can fit anywhere from 6-9 ounces, if it’s dense food it’s on the lower end.

Hi, I am scheduled to have my surgery on May 1, 2019. I was suppose to have it back in January, but I had palpitations. That lead to tons of test and procedures. Found out everything is fine. So it will be 11 months in May since I had my first appointment with my surgeon. I have noticed my jeans got tight around my stomach. I know I have gained weight, but I'm worried about what's gonna happen at my last pre OP class. Has anyone else gained weight before surgery? Can anyone tell me what's going to happen at the last pre OP class? I'm really nervous!! Thank you !

Hi. I am officially 2 weeks post-op and have been experiencing over heating and vertigo spells. My blood pressure it is usually high following the spells. I never had any blood pressure issues before. My surgeon says it's normal as my body is struggling to find its new balance. Has anyone else has blood pressure issues following VSG??

Hi everyone! I am 2.5 years post sleeve surgery my highest weight was about 380lb and I have been fluctuating between 188-198 lb the last year. Old habits are creeping in and my surgeon has placed me on a new diet to try and reach the 180 lb goal she set for me. It is embarrassing to say I am that close but yet so far away. I find the old habits creeping in whether its dessert after dinner like the kids have, or sneaking a sweet at the store. I should be consuming 3 protein bars per day, dinner around 6p and a Greek yogurt at 9p before I leave for my night shift. I have always struggled with water intake and get about 50 oz. Of overall liquids per day normally coffee, tea…

I'm 7 months out from my sleeve surgery and I'm doing great, almost at my goal weight but now I'm having some side affects such as Gallstones and a vitamin B12 deficiency I had my first gallbladder attack on Christmas Day atleast the emergency room was pretty empty so I got seen fairly quickly my Doctor and Surgeon both said that this was very common and about 50% of all weight loss patients suffer from these issues i now have to have my Gallbladder removed which is happening in 2 weeks and I'm also getting weekly vitamin B12 injections just wondering if anyone was informed about this side affect prior to surgery because I know I wasn't, I don't reg…

Today I had my pre-op appointment with my surgeon where I was cleared for surgery. I will have to start my liquid diet tomorrow! Not so excited about that! Haha So, today was my farewell to food day, in the sense that I will no longer be eating the way I have been accustomed to my whole life before starting this journey. I had dreams of cupcakes, ice cream, steak, cheeseburgers, chips, cookies and all that garbage. But guess what happened? After all of these months of dieting and portion control, I only ate 1/4 of my steak, 1/3 of my potatoes and small side salad; pushing the croutons to the side. I stopped when I felt full!!!!!! I ate none of the other junk I had hoped…

Hi everyone! I am not a gastric sleeve patient myself, but my husband is due to have the surgery the end of this month or the beginning of May. We are both experiencing a mix of emotions (nerves, excitement, fear of the unknown). My main fear (other than the normal fear when a spouse has a major surgery) is that I am due with our second child the end of May. That is only a three or four week buffer between his surgery and my VBAC/repeat C-section/our daughter's birth. He has wanted this and has been trying to get it in the works for a year, so he's simply seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, but I am very worried about having these two stressful events so close…

I make a week since yesterday and I was put on a 4 week liquid diet, I am not sure if it is 4 weeks counting the first week or 4 weeks from my release day? I see most people were on liquid for 2 weeks or even less. Is it strange I am in for a whole month? I would feel so much happier if I could have mush of vegetables.

Hi guys, I was curious if anyone is from or around St. Louis? I am set to have my surgery in 2.5 weeks. I did my research before joining the program back in August and thought I was happy. Recently, I found a review on my sugeon that freaked me out a bit. First, let me say she has great reviews for the most part. But there is a review by a lady claiming that my doctor only removed 20% of her stomach during her sleeve surgery. I don't know the situation. Maybe there was a reason for this. She said that she had to have revision surgery 2 years later in 2016 and her new surgeon claims that my surgeon has a reputation for being conservative in the sense of how much she remov…

Having a hard time keeping my vitamins down. I take the chewable BariActiv iron and multi-vitamin supplements mid morning after my snack (I take the calcium by itself later in the day with no issues). I’ve thrown them up 3 times so far this week. I don’t feel nauseous at all. Just get the urge to vomit about a minute after taking them and then I feel fine once I’ve done the deed. I’m 8 days post op and still on liquids. Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions on keeping those suckers down?

I’m actually here, can’t quite believe it after surgery was cancelled for 20th March. Then was supposed to come in last night but they told me not to as lack of beds. Then told to come in for 7am today , then told possibly no beds. But eventually they came to get me from waiting room and I’m sat by my bed and it’s all going ahead. Nerves , anxiety , relief to be here. I’m last on the list. So a little wait yet. But it’s happening Wishing everyone having surgery today all the best xxx

I am having my surgery done late today. I am not proud to say that I did not follow my pre-op diet perfectly. In fact, I got so hungry that one day before when I am supposed to drink only clear liquids I ended up eating a meal. I just gave up. I have this feeling that nothing is going to help me anyways. I have been trying to lose weight forever. Since I got pregnant it has been a never-ending battle and I always look at food to comfort, reward and celebrate. I had gastric balloon but barely lost 8 pounds on it. I have had lipo twice on the abdomen. I just bounce back bigger and bigger. Now I am to have this surgery tomorrow which I hope is safe consi…

In the last couple weeks I've suddenly started chasing that full feeling. I'm terrified. Someone please tell me that I haven't ruined my pouch already. I'm scared that I'm stretching it. I know that if I don't stop chasing the full sensation that I *will* stretch my pouch, so I'm going to get my **** together effective immediately. I am 100% sure this is stress/emotional eating. I had to stop therapy temporarily for financial reasons but I have the knowledge and tools to help myself, so I'm going to get myself under control, even though it's hard and scary. Meanwhile... I'm praying that I haven't ruined myself before I even reached the 6 month mark.
