Hi all, Does anyone out there have Multiple Sclerosis? Have you had surgery or are you considering surgery? I would like to hear about how having MS did (or didn't) affect your journey. I am booked in for gastric sleeve surgery on 11th April, but due to a change in my MS treatment, may have to delay it. Cheers

  4. I am really frustrated lately. I’m 2 months post op... My last post op appointment with my surgeon was February 19, and since then I’ve only lost 3 pounds! Is this normal???? I’ve been bouncing back and forth between 313 and 311 on the scale. I try to only weigh in 2 times a week. I’ve lost a total of 58 pounds so far. My caloric intake is between 900-1100 calories per day and I’m taking in 50-64 ounces of unsweetened iced tea per day. (I hate drinking water, and digestive system does not accept artificial sweeteners... IBS, sorry for TMI) I do drink one cup of coffee per day with 1 teaspoon of dairy free creamer as well. I do not drink protein drinks due to extreme…

Hey guys... I just had my one month post OP appointment and my doctor told me I have to get around 90 grams of protein a day. I am currently 25 years old at 311 lbs (33lbs down) and I seriously cannot get all my protein in. I cant get more than 45 a day without feeling like I'm forcing it down. Do you guys have any tips? I really dont want my hair to fall out and I want to do everything I can to make sure I am being successful and I keep trying and trying to get it down and I just cant reach that goal. Every time I watch a YouTube video where someone does their "what I eat in a day 1 month post op" or something, they eat a hell of a lot more than I can and I'm not sure wh…

Hello everyone, I have not even had my surgery yet, but I think the thing that worries me the most is the pureed stage of eating. What types of things did you eat during this phase? Did you actually put food in a blender and puree it? or, did you go to taco bell and buy a bunch of refried beans to eat? lol. but seriously, i'm not sure I'll be able to get pureed foods down.... thoughts?

Hi everyone! I’m a newbie! I was sleeved a week ago and am really struggling. The pain is gone but today I woke up with a very upset stomach and the feeling of something being stuck in my esophagus. Every time I try to get down a sip of fluid i get chest pain like I’m full. Anyone else experience this? Almost feels like my sleeve is too small. Could it be acid reflux? Help please! Thanks!

  9. I’m out a year and three months post op gastric sleeve, I’m a vegetarian whom has hit a slump. I can’t seem to get passed 100 lbs weight loss..... can anyone give me any advice on how to jump on the weight loss Wagon again I need help......

  10. Started by RiaR,

I am wondering what the best exercise would be to get my muscles toned and belly back in. Also how long did you wait post op to go back to the gym. I am 9 days post op and sitting and walking are about the only things I do at the moment.

  11. Started by chellyvillen,

I had surgery about 8-9 months ago, and have all the markers for rheumatoid arthritis (all the blood tests, I haven't seen a rheumatologist yet). I've been trying to see if there is a connection to my sleeve surgery and found a couple papers saying that some people have developed auto-immune diseases around 11 months after surgery, but correlation is not causation. Did anyone have to deal with this, did it lessen after your weight settled?

What do you guys do, take, or suggest to stay up and energetic? I work in a warehouse, 10 hrs shift and I'm dying EVERY DAY! After that I go to the gym and I feel like I can't workout as much as I would want to cause I'm so tired. Asked my doctor and she said that it's like that the first 3 months. Pretty much to deal with it... But it's getting out of control. ( I'm almost 2 months post op)

Call me crazy but I am practicing for my liquid pre op diet. My doctor requires a two week liquid diet pre operatively. The list says no fruit or yogurt?. I don’t want to go into the two weeks cold and set myself up for cheats and extreme bitchiness. Has anyone prepped for the liquid diet by doing a few days here and there leading up to surgery?

I was sleeved on Feb 26. I came home from the hospital March 1. I have a drain in that isn't scheduled to come out until March 20. My incision sites are itching like crazy. I called the office and they told me to take benadryl. I am taking my vitamins and drinking my protein drinks. My energy is extremely low. I realize that I am only a week out from surgery but I'm starting to get frustrated. How long did it take before you guys started to get energy and or feeling better?

Please help my surgery is Monday and I am still unsure which procedure is better for me. I have a failed lapband, BMI of 33.2, CW 189. I read the forums how sleeve patients usually regain after years and go back for revision. However is MGB to invasive for my weight loss. I don’t want to lose to much. Please help me decide. More heads and opinions are better than one :)

Good morning and happy Thursday. Do you ever eat something that's sooooo good, you take a portion that you think you can finish and you'e eating/savoring and enjoying it, got that happy feeling inside then BAM!! suddenly you stop in your tracks because your new tummy says that's the last bite for you!! ?? The gastric sleeve has been such a blessing to me, it has really changed my life for the better...I hope it has been for you all too. Have a great day peeps PS: I do have my days from time to time where i may not the feel the best from trying different foods or I've upchucked but never any regrets.

  18. Started by DDUKES,

Has anyone been re-sleeved? I was sleeved 06/29/10. My highest weight was 343 and I dropped to 211 in less than a year. Unfortunately, after that year my weight started to creep back slowly. First 20 pounds, then 30....now I'm back up to 272 pounds!! I always told myself that I would never go back to where I came and from and look where I am. I spoke to the Bariatric center here in Charlotte and they explained that being "sleeved" again is actually an option. I had such an effortless great surgery in 2010 and I'm curious if there will be any risks that are greater now.

Hi everyone! I am currently 4 weeks post op and was told to start my vitamins this week. I have the bariatric advantage multivitamin chewable and the calcium chewables....to put it bluntly, I hate them. I cant even smell them without gagging. Not to mention the calcium is so spicy on my tongue for some reason. Did anyone else have this issue?? Also, does anyone just take ones that you can swallow? I swallow pills just fine and if that's an option, I would sooo prefer it! Let me know!

So far bafflement... still undergoing tests but nothing conclusive so far... has anyone else experienced post-op complications several years out? Surgery July 2016. Only lost 100lbs (I know, I know, "only"), but I'm still about 100lbs overweight. I'm not unhappy w/the amount lost at all and feel much better overall so I do not regret the surgery. First, not sure any or all of these symptoms are related at all but since they're all (potentially) GI-related, I can't help but think (especially now) that they are. So here goes: I can't remember exactly when the first one occurred, but it was after "healing" for sure but the first time it happened, it was definit…

  28. I'm so excited! I'm about 12 weeks post-op gastric sleeve and I was worried about my pre-planned two week cruise and how I would manage to eat and stay on the right track. I was so good! I didn't eat a single dessert or pasta or pizza. I had a cheese omelette every morning for breakfast, salmon for dinner every night and various things for lunch but all making good choices. I just got back late last night and weighed this morning and I lost 2.5 pounds during my two-week cruise! Hooray! I exercised in the pool every morning and did lots of walking and stayed hydrated. I'm just so excited that I made good choices around all that ton of food on the cruise…

  30. The pictures on top were taken today at 193 lbs, I'm 5'9, so it may still seem high but I'm thrilled. Once I get to 175, I'm officially at my goal. I'm sure I have at least 10 lbs of excess skin thatll eventually be removed...but no rush. The pics below were 2 months preop (so around August 2018 and I weighed somewhere near 300lbs). In 6 months , I'm down over 100lbs and feeling fabulous. Struggling with the excess skin on my belly and inner thighs. Any spanx or waist trainer recommendations to conceal the pooch Lol! Hope everyone is happy and would love to see updates on my fellow October sleevers and how everyone is doing in general! Xoxo!

Hi everyone! Newbie there and my surgery is scheduled for April 11th! I was excited for the longest as I feel this is truly what I needed to help with my weight lost. However my mom and aunt are basically just asking me “you can’t just lose it by working out and eating right? It hurts my feelings because I’ve tried that with no true weight loss. In the past I have tried lipo and quick weight loss options so I can see why she may be skeptical but I’ve done the research and doing better with my eating. Has anyone else had issues with support from family? Did you push back the surgery and try to do it by yourself and just ignored them?

I am still having back and abdominal pain after having lap band to gastric sleeve surgery. I have been getting what could be called a spasm pain especially when i sit down. I had 2 cortisone shots and take ibuprofen, but still have pain, has anyone on this forum ever heard of this?

What is the purpose of these shakes? I've lost enough weight pre-op to have a BMI of 37 so my liver is not big. Why do some drs want this and others just say nothing after midnight night before surgery?

Hi I had a lap band in 2015 and had complications. My dr is advising I have it removed. I am looking at having a revision surgery to MGB in Tijuana with Dr. A. Lopez. My lap-band was done in the states. My worry is am I crazy for weighing in at 190 and considering a another weight loss surgery? I have gained 30lbs in the last 6 months. Is MGB too invasive? I don’t want to loose to much and look unhealthy. Please be open and honest. God Bless is all!

  39. So I had my surgery in November 2018, since then I've remained sick. The first couple of weeks went fine aside from some nausea and pain. Now three months, almost four after surgery and I'm struggling to keep food and liquid down and continually get sick with every cold, bronchitis and pneumonia. The only food I can handle seems to be nuts, cheese, red meat, and beans. Everything else comes right up, not only is this painful but it's annoying and worrisome. I've had several problems, I had this happen before and had to have a PICC line put in my arm (an IV line meant to stay in you for weeks to months or a year if needed) to give me my vitamins and nutrients I need. I had…

So, I've been getting dizzy when I stand up. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen regularly enough for me to notice. Well, yesterday, it happened every time I stood up; I would get so dizzy that I would just have to stand there for a minute so that I wouldn't fall over. Well, today, on top of the dizziness, there is a pressure in the back of my head when I stand up. I just spoke to a nurse and explained it to her. She asked me a few questions, and I explained that I usually get my water in, but I haven't the last 2 days, and she thinks that could be it. Anyone else have this issue?

Well, 4 days post op and must say the first night was quite the challenge, puking every hour and unbearable gas pain. But today was okay. I am able to keep fluids down l, every know and then still have those bloody burps for anyone in preop stage, this is the best decision you will ever make. The first night feels like any other post op night but all is okay.

Happy Sunday all! Hope you’re all doing well on your journeys, regardless of where you are ? I was just wondering what some of your favorite apps are for weight loss and tracking your progress throughout the wls process. I have a Fitbit so I use that app and MyFitnessPal is good for tracking what I eat. But are there any other apps you like in particular (Bariatric-related apps or non-bariatric related)? I have a tentative surgery date for 12/12, and want to get all my ducks in a row beforehand!

Hey everybody. This is my first time ever going into a forum. I had my surgery in March 2010. Nine years ago in just a few weeks. Originally, I lost 175 pounds. I bounce up and down. But, overall I am doing well with maintaining. I’ve learned how to eat again and I do well with that. My issue is when I consume alcohol. Something is not clicking and telling my body that I’ve had enough. I am a social drinker. Unfortunately, when I do drink, sometimes I tend to just keep going. In nearly 9 years, I still can’t figure out how to get my body accustomed to it. Like I said, food is not an issue. I know when I’m full. I also know that my stomach cannot abso…
