  2. I am 6 days post gastric sleeve surgery and I am getting some acute pain in my left shoulder that is keeping me from even sleeping properly. I tried taking prescribed painkillers but without real effects. I have no stomach issues, high temperature or nausea/vomiting feelings. I consulted my surgeon and he told me this must be some gastric gas residual and you should walk it off Did anyone get the same shoulder pain sensation post their sleeve surgery? How did you cope with the pain? Thank you

I'm 30 days post surgery at this point..I have to say I am super depressed right now bc even though I am doing EVERYTHING I have been told to do to be a success at this, I am NEVER seeing movement on the scale! I am so over it to be honest..people have asked..well how much have you lost since surgery..and I have to look at them all dumb and say NOTHING! Then they get all judgy..well are you doing, this, this, or this??..think I was better off mentally before I did this.

  4. Hi everyone! This question is geared toward people that have had surgery and lost most or all the weight they wanted to loose while maintaining a long term relationship. A bit about myself, I am 28 and have been in a 13 year committed relationship and have 2 children between us. I have lost about 191 lbs during the last 2 years and I am close to my first goal of 180 lb and plan to continue to onto about 165 lb. My partner has been over weight the entire relationship and while I have lost he has gained massive weight. Now he has trust issues and is so rude, disrespectful, verbally abusive and claims every moment that I leave the house "I am cheating". I know this comes fro…

I had my surgery in December and I’ve only lost 26 pounds. I feel like I should be losing more.

  6. Started by jazlynvictoriaxo,

Today I had 2 tablespoons of puréed cottage cheese, 1 tablespoon of scrambled egg, and 2 tablespoons puréed sauerkraut. I feel like this is a lot of consumption for only being 2 weeks post op? Any body else able to eat more than anticipated? I feel like I’m not noticing the signs of being full and it’s really freaking me out.

January 2nd will be my 2 year surgiversary. For almost a year now I have been having pain under my left rib. My primary doctor thought it was a dislocated rib and told me it would take a few months to heal. After six months still hurt, told give it more time. Now it’s been a year, the pain is now every day, and radiates to my left shoulder. My primary finally had a CT ran, during the CT the radiologist asked me if I had had some kind of surgery because it looked like I swallowed a bracelet! It was my sleeve that he was referring to! It was then that I thought maybe it’s my sleeve causing me this pain, I don’t know why I never though about it being that, I guess I just tru…

I’ve been reading here for a while and finally signed up today. I had my sleeve done on Monday 2/25/19, spent one night in the hospital and was released the following day. Recovery has been fine, haven’t had much pain, etc. I started “stage two” foods yesterday (farina, strained cream of soups, etc.) and that’s been fine. I just had a question if anyone else had the big dent in their stomach after their surgery? It’s right below the largest hole, which is right above my belly button. I’ve also started getting a weird sensation in that area earlier today, kind of like a bubbling sensation when I bend over or lean back. It’s not painful, it’s just..odd. Thought maybe it was…

I had lap band surgery in 2010 and it worked amazing until 2016 when my band slipped. My band was removed and I was told I would probably gain all the weight back and have to do another weight loss surgery. I've been so depressed the past two years as I watched the scale go up and felt powerless. In August I decided to look into the Gastric Sleeve. I had my surgery on 2.7.19 and in many ways, it feels like starting over again. I am motivated to be successful and to have this be lasting weight loss this time.

Today is 6 months post op for me and I feel so good. I don’t look at this process as a diet, it’s my new lifestyle. I will have to watch my weight the rest of my life and I’m so ok with that...for me it’s all about the mindset. I had so many medical issues before surgery and type 2 diabetes was the one that helped me to make my decision to have the gastric sleeve surgery. I can’t be more pleased about my decision and have never had one regret, i was on 1500 mg of metformin and the highest dosage of victoza and my blood sugars were still out of control, now I am not on any meds for diabetes from the day that I got out of the hospital from surgery, my A1C went from 9.8 …

Well, since I've been growing ever more nauseated for the last two months (month 3-4 after surgery - first two months after surgery were fairly smooth sailing), doc has scheduled an upper GI for this Thursday. If that doesn't show anything, it is on to an endoscopy. I am NOT looking forward to drinking the contrast (I mean, really, that is just going to anger the nausea), but I'm hoping that they can find why I'm now nauseated 90% of my day and able to eat less each week (I'm now basically back to eating about how much I ate when I first got on soft foods). I did this major surgery so that I'd feel better. I really don't give a rat's behind how I look. And at this p…

Sleeved 1/24/19. Over the past 10 days or so, I’ve been noticing hunger pangs within an hour of eating, but I know I’m not physically hungry. I’m consuming mostly protein at this point because I feel terrible if I don’t get enough of it, and there’s not enough room for protein AND carbs at this point. When I first started experiencing this, I wondered if my sleeve had emptied quickly and I was experiencing legitimate hunger; however, if I try to eat something, it becomes apparent quickly that I’m not actually hungry, and that my sleeve still has quite a bit in it. Anyone else experience this as well? Any suggestions?

So my doctor told me it seemed like my stomach can't handle much food at all. Which is kind of understandable, he told me to eat several snacks through out the day keep them small, and space them out between meals. Do any of you snack? Any ideas on how to notice when it's time to eat??

I hope I'm not done losing weight as I still would like to lose another 50 lbs and I'm currently down 86. VSG 11/22/2017.

  24. Started by bogglesauce,

Can anyone help me come up with a diet plan? I had my surgery in November 2017 and I've only lost 55 lbs since then. Per my nutritionist's instructions, I'm supposed eat a small meal about 200 calories every 2 hours and eat up to 1400 calories. However lately, I feel totally off the rails and have been overeating. I think I got bored eating the same thing every day for months and months. I track everything I eat but I don't drink enough water. I don't really like protein shakes but I'm wondering if it might be time to try them again. What do you do when you lose control of your eating? How do you get back on board? Thanks in advance for your input and advice!

  25. Started by marismommy1,

I was wondering what complications, if any, you had after surgery? I started having bad pain and nausea in my lower left abdomen, and they found it was diverticulitis. They think it is due to all of the protein shakes and after surgery diet/ pain meds causing constipation. I finally went back to work after being out for 2 weeks, and I started vomiting white foam, and I am back to feeling super nauseous and dizzy. Anyone else having these problems? Unfortunately with feeling so sick, I am not getting many calories and my dr said my body is in starvation mode, which is stalling the weight loss. I have to force myself to get up to 800 calories a day. Not fun...

Hello everyone, my name is Deirdre and I had the sleeve October 2017. The first 9 months, I lost 80 lbs. Then I completely fell off the wagon: drinking with meals, drinking diet soda, and eating sugar. Tons and tons of sugar. I feel zero restriction with cake, cookies, brownies, and chocolate candy bars. I have been bingeing on these the last 6 months. I have regained 40 lbs. I am too embarrassed to go back to my surgeon or my endocrinologist (I am diabetic). Today I decided to get back on track. No more sweets or diet soda. I have had a protein shake and a yogurt so far today, along with tons of water and some Crystal Light. Dinner is going to be a (homemade) cheeseburge…

Think I may be due for a visit to the doctor. 2nd day back at work 4 weeks post sleeve and anxiety through the roof, plus telltale signs of depression. Could alternatively and absolutely feasibly, be hormonal, but not had a period for 2.4 years (only 42 when they stopped so assumed was weight, but now not so sure). I knew this would be a roller coaster, but snapping or tears every time I even think about getting showered, dressed, exercising, cooking, doing laundry, getting work done for 5 clients assigned to me at work. Totally useless rn.

  36. Started by Rene' S,

Hello, I had surgery on 02/18/2018 and was released later on Thursday. I am the purred stage and did well on Friday Yesterday I had some purred chicken with purred potatoes. I'm not sure if I ate to much or I didn't puree enough but about a 1/2 hour after I ate, I could tell the food was stuck. I drank a warm beverage and that seem to move things down. Felt ok this am and went to eat some purred eggs, I have the stuck feeling again just not as bad. I tried drinking another warm beverage but just burping now. I assuming I aggravated my pouch. Any suggestions what else I need to do other than wait it out?? Thanks,

I've not really stepped up the exercise side of things feel very tired a lot of the time. Just wondered other's experiences and based on that can I expect it to keep comimg off? 44. The last time I was on here was January 28th. Be ready for a long, long post. To recap, I was having some insane nausea, being unable to really eat or drink. On the Jan 25th, I had gone to the ER for fluids and then was able to go home. I had a CAT Scan, Ultrasound, HIDA scan, and Barium swallow test to make sure it was not my gallbladder needing to be removed and not any blockages that were causing issues. I have some gallbladder sludge, but my surgeon said he didn’t think it was the issue when I saw him on the 28th. They just told me to take my anti nausea meds (that were not working) and eat and drink what I could. On the Jan 27th, I started staying with my m…

We were on vacation in Mexico this past January and we went on an excursion that was to be a horse back ride up a mountain to a waterfall. When we got to the point of getting our horses assigned the handler looked me up and down and walked over and brought back a mule, as in pack mule. I looked around and watched and everyone was assigned beautiful horses except for myself and one other heavier man who also got a mule. It was obvious why we were assigned the mules.
