Had sleevectomy Jan. 9 and was admitted back into hospital on Jan. 21 for a blood clot in one of the veins in my stomach. So glad I ignored the nurse at my surgeon’s office who said my severe pain was probably just lactose intolerance or gas pain! I got my butt to the ER because I couldn’t stand the pain anymore! Trust your instincts people! Also remember the risk of complications is REAL and keep up with your water intake. I’m finally getting out of hospital today after 4 days and certainly hope I never have to go through this again!

I need help... I fell off the wagon... not too terrible but I have gained about 12 lbs. I got pregnant in October and just miscarried about 5 weeks ago and I have been severely depressed and eating things that are not good for me... I haven’t been to the gym or done anything except go to work. I lay in bed all day and sleep. I have recently seeked help for the depression and I finally got out of bed today and went shopping and felt good until I got home.. what can I do to get back to lose the 12 lbs I gained plus more? I’m about 20 months out from surgery... I’m just terrified I will never lose again and keep gaining. Please no negative comments about my poor eating habit…

I am only taking in 1/2 a protein shake and soup twice a day. Sometimes I feel full other times I don’t. Does anyone else feel like this? I put protein in my soup or some juice to make sure I get my protein in for the day.

Well I guess I came back to the forum so may as well open with this: Surgery was 8/6/18, I am down from 350 lbs (pre-liquid diet) to 260 lbs (plateau maybe?). I am able to walk more but still do not exercise. If I eat carbs, I am hungry in 2 hours. Nighttime snacking is a thing- nuts nearby help. I get complemented about "how narrow I look" and I blush and hate it. Makes me wonder if it is a negative comment on my past self. I returned to mental health treatment because both positive and negative stress- extra support on journey too. I eat more and sometimes push it... even when I know I shouldn't. Getting tested for IBS/Crohn's/…

I’ve been pretty discouraged by my lack of weight loss following gastric sleeve surgery. I’m just shy of being three weeks out and have only lost 9lbs despite following the program exactly as instructed. Took my measurements today and I have to say this lifted my spirits. I may only be down 9lbs but I’ve lost 27 inches total! Absolutely incredible. I’ve never been able to accomplish this before in my life with all the yo yo dieting I put myself through. If there’s anyone out there feeling disappointed with your journey, don’t give up hope! Thought I’d share and hopefully lift someone else’s spirits too.

I'm one year post op, lost all the weight i wanted to lose and a little bit more, I'm very happy with my results and trying to maintain a nutritious healthy diet. And i think I'm doing well. My only problem is that one hour after eating anything i just feel very hungry, it annoys me so much. I was reading a research about faster emptying time for sleeves. And i think this is the worst side effect i get from this surgery. Constant hunger. I feel so full and in less than an hour I'm starving again. Its difficult to ignore it so i keep munching all the time but i try to watch my calories allover. Its working but I don't want this to continue happening and I'm terrified of re…

I had my vsg done on 2/20/19. The first week I lost 15 pounds. The second week I lost 5 lbs. the third week was only 2 lbs. I’m still only taking in a protein drink and soup. Is this normal or should I be worried?

My sleeve surgery was on Monday, 3/11. Stayed in hospital only 1 night. No nausea. I only gained 3 lbs during hospitalization. I still have some gas pain but it’s minimal. I’m now very excited to continue my weight loss journey.

Hi friends! Just got to overweight today!! I am 5’2”. I weighed 235lb on surgery day, and today I weighed 160.8. It has been 6 months 2 weeks and 3 days since surgery (August 17th). What I have learned: 1) you will still be hungry 2) you will still have cravings 3) you will still love food 4) you pretty much can’t eat and you have to always be aware with what you are putting in your mouth. My favorite food is pizza and I’ve had it about 4 times since. I loved pasta, but I never ever eat it alone like I used to. This way of living has been forced upon me because of surgery. Before I would binge, now I mindfully eat always. The f…

So, I'm not even to goal yet, and I'm already thinking about the possibility of gaining weight, and it terrifies me. At another time in my life, before the surgery, I had lost a lot of weight with diet and exercise, and I put every pound back on plus more. I'm sure that I'm not the only one on this site with that has had that happen to them though. I'm obsessed with weight. I think about weight a lot. I watch YouTube videos of obese people. I watch My 600 Pound Life almost every day.

So I had my gastric sleeve done yesterday morning all went well I feel well I'm going home in about a half an hour but I got to tell you I'm hungry. Is this normal? I was kind of afraid of this. Although I have to remember that when I do start eating in a month or so I don't know how long it takes it will be very little and I won't be able to eat as much. Anybody else hungry after their operation?

So for Christmas eve I wore a dress. I never wear dresses, not since I was a little kid, but I'm 7 months post-op and lost ~100 lbs since my highest and ~70 lbs since surgery, and I was feeling good. And I went to a friend's party and everyone was telling me how good I looked, literally everyone, and it was all I was talking about all night, people had questions but I'm open and talked about my weight loss with everyone. As I was leaving, someone who didn't say a word to me all night comes up and says, "You look so nice... now." I almost punched him in the face. I don't even remember what I said, I was so mad. And I have been thinking about this comment ever si…

Hi, I'm new to this forum but would like to receive some feedback from those that have had gastric sleeve surgery in Mexico. I have been thinking about having this surgery and researching the surgeons in Mexico for quite a while now. I believe that I have narrowed my search to 3 doctors who specialize in this type for procedure. Their names are Dr. Juan Corvala who based on my research is one of the leading doctors worldwide in bariatric surgery. Dr. Jaime Ponce De Leon who also has performed extensive surgeries and Dr. Armando Joya..only negative information that I could locate on him was that one of his patients didn't believe that he did a good job at pain managem…

I had my sleeve surgery in 2010..did really well and lost 100 pounds in 11 months. however, i got pregnant at the 11th month so had to switch to a more normal diet. fast forward i have 2 kids now and i have maintained my weight loss but want to start again to lose another 50 - 70 pounds..so how do i go about resetting things?? I know a lot of people are doing the KETO diet but im not really sure if that is something that would work for me with this surgery... When i had it done the diet was protein first.... then green veggies if there was room.. is that still what Drs recommend? Any advice would help tons. Thank you in advance :-)

I am wondering what to do about the excess skin which will invariably occur after one completes the surgery, sticks to exercise routine and healthy eating. I live in NB Canada and am wondering if Medicare or the Province will assist in the removal of the excess skin which I would think affect the self esteem and confidence. Anyone have an experience with this? Thank you!

Today I'm 2 weeks post op. I lost 15 lbs my first week and I've lost zero lbs this week!! I've read a bunch of posts on here about having stalls, but this early?? It's so disheartening. I've been on nothing but liquids, then purees for the last 3 days so why aren't I losing weight? Nothing for an entire week! Ughhh. It really makes me have buyer's remorse. I know, (hope), it will get better and I'll hopefully lose, but right now I just want to hear some people say they went through the same thing early on and it turned out okay. Thanks for reading!

I had my 3 month checkup today. All my vitamin levels are good,. Liver enzymes a little elevated. Thyroid function normal and I get to STOP my BP meds! My BP was 118/72! Doc says I am right on track for where I should be at 3 months. I was worried I was not losing fast enough. She says they prefers low and steady......1-2 lbs a week. WHEW!

So, I was told by both my endocrinologist & my surgeon Dr to stop my diabetes meds. I was on metformin 2x 1000mg, glimeperide 2x 4mg and 72 units of lantus at night. I'm 16 days out and my bs is over 200 fasting and after meals. I've gone back to taking metformin & glimeperide till I hear from my Dr. I am eating real food now, but it was high even on just liquids. I'm eating about 1/2 cup of food x4 a day. Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you!

Hey! I'm new here and currently debating on whether to have the sleeve or bypass. I saw in the bypass forum there was a post discussing how much weight people were able to lose in the first 6 months after surgery. I'm curious what kind of success people with sleeve have seen. I know weight loss can be slower with the sleeve. Have you noticed this? Also, congratulations on any weight that you have lost! I can't wait to be 6 months post op and see how much better my health is!

Hi! I'm new here. I just received insurance approval and was stunned. I was told 1 month at the very least is what it would take to receive approval. It's been 1 week. I was feeling wishy-washy about the surgery. Now I'm feeling good. A little scared. A little excited. Im in Michigan. How long from approval time till you actually had surgery?

Hello, Any Sleevers who juice? I am 17 months out and about 3 months ago I am hungry all the time!! I can eat larger portions now. I was reading into the reset the pouch "theory" so, I looked into juicing. Found a local nutritionist who makes organic cold pressed juices fresh. I did a 5 day and felt FABULOUS! I was never hungry. But don't really get protein being on a "Juice" diet. Loved the way my gut felt! Anyone else?

Just starting my journey. Had my first apt on the first with my surgeon, having my endoscopy on the 22nd, my nutritionist apt the 9th. .l also have been on a dr supervised weight loss program for close to 2 years now which she is currently writing up a paper to submit stating why she feels I’m a good candidate as well. My paperwork is coming together... but however, I’m just really thinking this is going to all be for nothing because insurance will deny me. I think it states I have to be with a BMI of 35+ for at least a year and I think I was at a BMI of 34 around nov before it started to go up.... not sure if that’s where they might snag me if they ask for records fir…

So my sleeve surgery is a day and a half away. Tuesday morning first thing in the morning. I have been on a liquid-only diet and I'm going crazy ! LOL around food I'm not always rational so I don't know if this feeling is because my body is hungry for food or if my mind is hungry for food. It makes me so scared that after the surgery I'm still going to be starving for food emotionally and mentally. I'm a bit scared

Was sleeved in 2016, weight before pre-op diet was 453 pounds. Surgery weight was 429. Lowest weight was 330. My current weight is 399 pounds. Not gonna blame it on stress or anything. Was just very undisciplined. Is there any advice anyone can give me me or is there anyone on here whos been through this or is currently going through this??

I was originally sleeved in 2013 and was approved through a new insurance company to be sleeved AGAIN this year! Sadly my sleeve failed due to several major life occurrences and it stretched back out to the point that I've gained back half of the 100 pounds I had originally lost post op. Maybe I failed my sleeve, not the other way around but I'm not here to be judged. My dad died, I got divorced (and it was UGLY), fought for custody of my son (and won!), moved 3 times and then finally bought a house, was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy, got remarried and I had a heart attack all in the past 5 years!!! That being said, I'm ready to get resleeved but I've never met a…

Being in emotional pain for the better part of 45 years and now in physical pain for several years and after dozens of failed attempts to lose weight, I've decided on bariatric surgery. Surgery is scheduled for March 6, 2019. I was excited for about a minute... then the fears set in. How drastically will my life change when I lose the weight? Will my husband and I still love each other? Will our lives take such different paths that we grow apart? What will family and colleagues say/think? Am I vain for wanting to do this? Then there is the uncertainty of success... Can I truly commit to this new lifestyle? Will this be added t…

I have two NSV's this week I am super excited about! 1. My boss gave me a few of her pairs of jeans about a month ago.. and they barely hit the sides of my hips. I was able to put them on comfortably on Sunday!!! YAY!! I was so excited. 2. This morning, i went to tie my sneakers and i didn't realize till i was almost done that my leg was not up on the bed sideways so i could tie the shoe but crossed over my leg sitting up!!.. I thought i was dreaming when i realized it. What are your NSV's this week?

Tomorrow is the big day for us schedule for March 12. I go in at 5:30 am for a 7:30 am surgery time. I'm only slightly nervous. Feeling mostly content with my decision and ready to get this done and start recovery. I've lost a total of about 53 pounds, 40 on the 6-month supervised diet and about 13 (I think) on the two-week liver shrink diet. My tummy got smaller so hopefully that's because my liver shrank as it should have. I should have about 105 to 110 pounds to lose after surgery to get to my ultimate goal. I'll try to update at some point after the surgery. Good luck and best wishes to all having surgery tomorrow. Here's to a new life of living instead of watchi…

Hi everyone! Updates ? Currently (today anyway) 154.6 but I have been bouncing around due to eating less fun foods for challenges and then more near my menstrual cycle. Balance is key right? My food choices remain the same. On the go I can count on very little outdoor foods so I pick the same things- yogurt, salad, halal chicken or tenders, West Indies foods (beef/chicken/vegetable patty) , etc... (Recently tried beef chili from Sonic will not again) But I try to keep it tight and justifiable aka walking meal lol ????????? I gave up protein cookies for good, hooray? they were a lazy and calorie costly substitute so I realized didn't need them. I have starti…

Ok guys. I am 5 weeks out of my gastric sleeve and having a hard time. My go to was food and I know that the sleeve was my choice of a life changing event. I’m doing good in getting a couple bites of food in. Feeling like I am unable to drink enough water and protein shakes. I want to down a bottle of water so bad but know it will come right back up. Waiting a half hour before and after eating seems like it takes to much time from drinking. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Ugh..I told myself I wouldnt let myself get discouraged, it is so hard. I am just about one month post op gastric sleeve. I am still on the puree diet and eating no more than 1/2 cup per meal , six times a day per my MD and NUT, but the scale doesn't want to go down. Little info on myself 5 9, HW 325, SW 310, CW 290. I lost 15 pounds the first week, since then I have only lost 5 pounds, with only 0.5 lbs this last week. I do believe I went down a size in pants, but why wont the scale go down!
