Starting again

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve surgery in 2010..did really well and lost 100 pounds in 11 months. however, i got pregnant at the 11th month so had to switch to a more normal diet. fast forward i have 2 kids now and i have maintained my weight loss but want to start again to lose another 50 - 70 pounds..so how do i go about resetting things?? I know a lot of people are doing the Keto diet but im not really sure if that is something that would work for me with this surgery... When i had it done the diet was Protein first.... then green veggies if there was room.. is that still what Drs recommend? Any advice would help tons. Thank you in advance :-)

That's what my surgeon told me 3 months ago, Protein first, veggies if there's room, grains/carbs if there's still room. You could try a one week liquid diet to re-start things?

I’ve been thinking about getting pregnant but scared about gaining weight. Do you still feel restriction in your stomach ? How much you gained during pregnancy ?

I would star with a few days liquids to get rid of Water retention and shrink the sleeve again.. lots of info out there on how to do this.

If you can visit your team to start. Especially the nutritionist if available. You want to know where you are (labs, etc) before you begin anything new and drastic.

Then back to the start of eliminating processed foods and sugars, dense Proteins first, vegetables next, fats and complex carbs sparingly to jump back into weightloss mode.

For support try in person bariatric groups or online chats like this one. Here's a challenge for March to stay mindful about food choices and motivated about exercise and self appreciation. Hope that helps! You got this Mama 💜

as they say everyone is different. i didn't gain any weight when i was pregnant with either baby. i also carried pretty far back so i didn't look pregnant until i was 8 months along. when I have my first i was 35 pounds lighter and managed to keep that off for a year. the second pregnancy went similar to the first. except i gained 20 pounds after i was done nursing.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
