Hi, I have my surgery on April 3rd, On the pre opt diet it's hard but ill survive So I've had 5 major surgeries in my life chest cracked open and others. I tried the sleep back in May but had scar tissues from a lap band and he wasn't able to do it said come back in 6 weeks, well i thought i'm not ready for round 2 just yet . Tries to lose on my own again, fail 15 lbs then thats it. So I found a new surgeon, anyways now I'm track to have it. Well , i guess everyone thinks you been through many surgeries it should be a breeze. NOT! I think i have anxiety because i know all that goes into it recovery and pain. I've been reading all the forums and seeing others experiences …

I am still early, EARLY in the process, but have so many questions and fears. My primary one is SKIN. With all that rapid weight loss, how can you keep your skin taut and keep it from sagging/bagging? I am at my absolute heaviest right now and I have never had a super rapid weight loss, just the usual yo-yo stuff in the past. I am 44, which adds to my fear that my skin won't bounce back as quickly from the weight loss. Any thoughts, suggestions, recommendations? Thank you!!!

Hi all. My gastric sleeve surgery was on March 17 2019. I am two weeks in. Problem is, I am constantly hungry and have only lost a total of 6 pounds in the first few days and nothing after. My hunger is not head hunger, as I am back to work and quite busy and not thinking of food but almost every hour my stomach starts growling and is hurting with hunger. I am eating whole liquids and soft foods like yogurt. Any ideas if this means that my surgery may not succeed?

Just tried coffee with Premier Protein Shake and it was very good and I noticed that it goes down smoother a big difference than what I have experienced with other liquids 5 days post op. Maybe because it is hot I guess or maybe just me?

Well I'm up late for a terrible reason. But I thought I should leave record of this because you don't see it on the boards often. I had VSG but I have the unfortunate side effects of dumping and late dumping possibly even reactive hypoglycemia. I need to confirm the later with my doctor the next episode. The very first time it happened or that I can remember, I was 4 months post of in Naples. I was taking a coffee and felt a wave of flush wash over me but it disappeared immediately. Thought nothing of it. The next time I was in Paris, Nothing out of the ordinary lol. I had a pettit croissant and then a spoonful of panna cotta and I thought I was dying. Not…

Hi friends, I was sleeved almost 5 months ago and all was well until I tried to stop taking my pantoprozole around 8 weeks. I have had hearburn everyday since if I do not take the medicine. I do not want to take an acid reducer long term. So I've been trying to ween off it but it's not working. It scares the crap out of me. Just trying to see if anyone has had the same issue? Did it get better? Did you get a revision to rny? I am so scared to get a revision but reflux is scary and no fun at all. It can cause long term issues and damage that scares me also. I also know someone who was revised and is still having issues with reflux even after revision. Any encouragement i…

Have my date in mid-April and am excited / nervous at the same time? anyone ever back out / get cold feet? Two last concerns at this point - what if there's meaningful progress in a different tech over the next year - am i jumping the gun. thought i knew everything and tonight ran across endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty - anyone heard of or considered? Last one is choice of surgeon. Really like my doctor, but when i tried to search for any references on here - haven't seen anything. is he just too new? I'll be at USC keck. Anyone have particularly good or bad experiences there?

Hi guys!!! Any of you here that used tricare prime for gastric surgery???? I am wanting the sleeve. I told my doctor I wanted a referral to see a surgeon. She said she is putting one in for me. I see the status says "pending" can someone tell me their experience? Is this an authorization JUST TO SEE him? and then I meet with the surgeon and THEY send in approval for surgery???? What comes first? Approval for surgery or surgeons requirements?? I am soooo confused because my PCM did not say much. I am seen off base but I am still prime. My clinic was full. Also, how long did it take from the original consult to surgery date for you guys?

I can start on puree foods today. I was wondering if anyone had pureed a Wendy's chili and if it was okay tasting? I had some cooked chicken thighs, and pureed them, added a bit of garlic salt to them. I just cant seem to take a bite. I am just looking for ideas that might help with this puree stage!

Looking for some tips on beating head hunger and cravings. My cravings are winning and its showing on the scale. Sadly enough it has only been a year since I was sleeved and I've been struggling something serious. I dont want to mess this weight loss tool up. I have an appointment with my nutritionist this month (April) at my request because of my concern. I definitely need to crank up the volume on exercising and drink more water, so that is what I am building on this week. Ughhhhh.....

I just had surgery a few days ago and I am having guilt and regret. I am under a lot of pain especially in my throat, and my chest and my stomach skin area and insides. When I was in the OR I was having major anxiety and wanted to call it quits but felt too deep into it to call it quits. I am having a hard time taking in liquids and if i don't drink the required 5 cups, I will not be discharged today. I am trying to drink and walk but the pain is not letting me right now. I heard the nurse talk to another nurse calling me a big baby. I usually have high pain tolerance but my stomach feels all types of messed up. Any ideas? help? please.

Long story short had the lap band for 14 years, got really sick and started gaining weight even though i was barely eating. I was told my body was in starvation mode and any and everything i ate would be stored as fat on my body. Got it removed in 2017 and now in 2019 i have gained all of my weight back. I am considering the sleeve. Any advice.

I just moved to the puréed stage of my program on the 27th. Sleeve surgery was on the 12th. During the full liquid stage was just nauseous most of the time. Yesterday I tried two baby spoons of yogurt and immediately threw up. Today I had a couple bites of scrambled egg and it went down fine, started drinking a protein drink and 20mins later I am throwing that up as well. Any tips to try and avoid being sick or what I should do?

I was blessed to not suffer from obesity as a kid or even as an adult in my 20's. In fact, I worked as a personal trainer through college and part of law school and was in great shape in my early to mid twenties. I had a few mild ups and downs with the scale (gained 15-20 extra pounds) in my late twenties, but got back into shape and kept the weight off for a few years. It wasn't until I reach my early thirties (after I got married) that the weight started to accumulate. I didn't notice it in the mirror. I would gain 10 pounds take it off, regain 12 pounds take ten off, regain 14 pounds take 5 off---you know the pattern. The swings got to the point where I would drop 30 a…

I’m only 5 days post op and after the initial first days I don’t feel gassy/bloated anymore. I’m still bad at drinking my water and clears. But I’m trying to get better at drinking water. However, I noticed that every morning/evening I been experiencing acid reflux/GERD. The Dr. prescribed omeprazole for the acid reflux 2xday. That’s all the medication I’m taking however, I am wondering will my body adapt and so I no longer experience GERD or I officially have GERD and will have to take medication for it. ?

Hi guys! I'm new here. I was recently approved for gastric sleeve. I am nervous and excited! I was told that I have to stay over night at least 1 night after my surgery. Is 1 night typical or will it turn into more? I live about 1.5 hours away from the hospital my surgeon performs her surgeries and have 2 year old twins. My MIL is staying with them and I told her it should only be one night. My husband is taking the whole week off to help me recover and take care of my twins. How many nights did you stay in the hospital? Were you in a lot of pain? Can I hold toddlers afterwards?

Hi all! Had the sleeve done on 3/26 and came home 3/28. The surgery itself went well, but I had pretty bad vomiting from the moment I woke up and throughout the first night. I kept worrying I'd screw everything up by blowing a staple or something tearing, but I didn't! The next day was better and they were giving me everything they could to fight the nausea. The other thing I kept thinking is "Did it work?" Only because I woke up feeling hungry! That's not supposed to happen is it? Right now the only thing bothering me is the gas. Most of it is gone but I keep getting a sharp one near my stomach, so I'm working on walking that sucker out I do have a …

Hi all! Wondering if anyone has heard of or been through a similar situation, and what was the eventual outcome. Back in 2011, I had a lapband placed. I was a slow loser until I began to have issues getting/keeping food down. (No surprise there. Not eating will do wonders for your weight!) Anyhow, I was dealing with heartburn and nighttime reflux (waking up multiple times during night coughing/gagging). I was losing a lot of weight, but began getting fevers on a weekly basis. Sadly, because I was so very happy to have lost weight (which was my goal), I went on dealing with the mess until I just got sick of being sick. In 2015, I went to my surgeon, got some tests, and w…

So i've searched & read many of the previous "stall" threads but none seem to be similar to my issue. My HW was 387, SW 338(sleeved on 6/20/18), CW 250lbs. My macros are 1000-1200cals depending on lifting days, 90-110g protein, 50-60g carb per day. I'm lifting heavy 4 days per week with 45min HIIT cardio 5-6x/week. Per Apple Watch I'm burning between 4500-5500 cals per day so clearly burning 3x what I take in. My nut says I am were I need to be macro wise but the scale is just not friggin moving. My goal is cutting another 40lbs. I wonder if I am just not getting enough calories but don't think I can eat more. I don't want to lose any muscle mass, just burn fat. I've …

Hi all - I'm turning the big 4-0 at the end of the month and part of my celebration is gonna be a birthday dinner at Fogo de Chao because, well, not everyone at the party had WLS. Has anyone had luck negotiating the kids' price at a Fogo de Chao or Texas de Brasil? I don't have one of those "I had WLS" cards, I don't think my surgeon hands them out, and I did have some luck negotiating the kids' rate for Thanksgiving dinner. Maybe it would help to call the manager beforehand? Maybe I'm being cheap (though I would save 30 damn dollars, which is nothing to sneeze at).

I went to the doctor yesterday and they took blood and EKG they said if we don't call you then everything is fine. I was relived cause I thought it was, nope. Around 2pm I get a phone call saying I have to go get a CT scan(with contrast)because they wanted to make sure it wasn't a blood clot good forbid. The whole entire time I had my heart in my throat. After I left I was waiting for the bus and the doctor called and I can hear it in his voice and when be told me that there was no blood clot I was crying on the phone thanking him so much and when I got on the bus I was still crying and thanking God for watching out for me again. I have my surgery 12/3/18. I have lost 75lbs from my highest weight which was the weight I was when I started getting serious about this! I've noticed if I eat anything solid I instantly bloat. I can drink shakes all day long and nothing happens. But the instant I put any solid foods inside my belly gets bloated and I feel uncomfortable. It literally is anything I eat there is no pattern other than solid foods. Anyone deal with this? Anyone have any suggestions ?
