Hi everyone! I technically hit 6 months 2 days ago, but whatever Wednesdays suck so boo. Anyways, I am 6 months into my new life, and good lord is it a new life. I am a new person for sure. One year ago to the day I had been sobbing in my room because my size 24s would barely button. I know without a doubt that I was over 300lbs, but the sight of a scale had anxiety clogging my throat. I decided that day something would change. I went out and dropped 2k on an elliptical and resolved to "fix this ridiculousness immediately." Fast forward to February of 2018, and I was frustrated as all hell. Killing myself on the elliptical every freaking day and I was sitting at…

I’m planning to have either the band or the sleeve and would love to hear back from people who had either of these and your thoughts? Did you have success? Did you have complications? How much weight loss and how long?

51 days post surgery and what I wouldn't give for nice dark stout beer in my hand tonight after work. Can't imagine the carbonation would sit well with my new stomach.

Good morning everyone! I had a super weird dream last night and I couldn't wait to get to work so I can tell you all about it. It's a long one. I hope to get VSG during spring break. I am freaking out about every detail because I've never had to stay in a hospital before. So here goes... The dream started out with a call from the hospital. They called me and told me to come in immediately for my surgery. I was confused because I thought my surgery would be happening at a later date. I told the woman on the phone that and she hit me with "Do you want the surgery or not?" So I'm like, "Yeah. I'm on my way." So my boyfriend and I get to the hospital and…

Hi everyone, I am right around six weeks out, and my scale tells me I am down about 22 lbs - I started out at 252, and am now down to 230. My problem is, I am so unhappy with this, I feel like it is not very good progress at all. Am I being too hard on myself, or should I be losing more weight? Any advice is much appreciated!

Hi all, Things are going pretty well for me. I was sleeved June of last year. No surprises and the weight has just melted off. I walk 60 minutes 5 days per week. I'm admittedly not great about the weight training. I haven't weighed myself in a while, but I was honestly startled to step on the scale this morning and see that I was at 136. Now, I'm a small man with a small frame, but I don't want to look gaunt. My bari team doesn't seem all that concerned, but my family says I look too skinny. I'm nervous about what to do here. I'm taking in about 1500-1700 calories daily and 60-80 net carbs from veggies, fruits, very few grains, My protein has been excellent at a…

Hello Everyone, just wanted to touch base with my fellow May sleevers. I am curious about results thus far and calorie intake. I am receiving conflicting information from my doctor (who says I should consume 1000 calories a day) and my nutritionist (who says I should consume 700 calories a day). I have been struggling and frustrated with my progress. I know where I need to tighten things up but am looking for support and encouragement. I have lost 28 pounds since my surgery on May 2nd. 41 pounds down from my highest weight. HW: 219 Surgery Weight: 205 Current Weight: 177 48 yrs old, 5’4”

Brand new here, getting ready to start the 5 day reset diet. I had lost almost all my weight then got custody of my 3 grandkids and have gained back 40 out of the 80 lbs I had lost. Anyone have similar experience or needing to go back to the basics like I do?

I'm 1 week post op and doing well. I've lost 16lbs since surgery, 30lbs total since starting the preop liquid diet. My problem right now is hunger!! I'm so hungry. I've been eating jello, pudding, and cream soups as allowed, but I was wondering if anyone else has transitioned to purees early as long as they tolerate it? I have a friend who had the same surgery and she started eating pureed food 5 days post op. Thoughts?

If you drink too much too quickly yes it hurts in your diaphragm for a brief moment, but is that it? Does it damage your sleeve or cause your sleeve to stretch? I’m 4 days post op and drinking fluids now. Sometimes they go too fast and it hurts for a second but it’s not unbearable. Is this causing damage?

Quick Question... I could ask my Dr. but my next call with him isnt until end of Feb, and I do not feel this is an emergency LOL Does anybody know when they typically run labs? Is each Dr. Different? How do we know when they decide they are going to run labs and how often? LOL... I feel like i am almost at 3 months and its time for other things to happen that are different now that i am progressing along. Any thoughts appreciated.

Ok so as some of you would know I’m trying to currently tweak my calories to stop me from losing anymore weight. The past 2 weeks I’ve been eating around 1500-1600 calories, 120 grams of protein, 110 grams of carbs and around 60-90 grams of fat. I’m still losing; I acutely jumped on the scales this morning as it’s been going up and down over the past few days and I was hopeful I had found the key to maintenance however this morning I have dropped 2 pounds. My question is what other foods can I add to increase my already 1600 calories, it feels like it’s a chore all o do is eat every day !

Hi All, I'm a little over a month out and I got my vitamins in the other day. The nasal spray is fine, but the rest make me so nauseous. They are BariActiv multivitamin, calcium + d3 & magnesium, and iron + vitamin c. Taking them all together was a mistake. Even taking them separately makes me feel nauseous, so much so I got sick last night. I have my 1 month appointment on Friday where I'm going to bring this up, but I was curious to see if you guys had any advice/experience. Thanks!

Hi All, I was sleeved on 11/8/18 and my husband was sleeved on 11/29/18. As of today he is down from 280 (260 day of surgery) to 205 and he is concerned that he’s loosing too quickly. He’s also been struggling with nausea for most of the day. The surgeon’s office had him start Zantac 75 and peptobismal chewables to rule out just a stomach bug. (In addition to protonix for reflux since the surgery) He has an appointment with his general doctor and he’s going to bring his concerns up to her as well, but I wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience here. Thanks!

I am feeling great I am down 95 lbs since I started my weight loss journey and 56 lbs down since I got sleeved. I am still in my third month and I have only lost 5 pounds!!!! The first two months was great because I lost over 20 pounds each month. I am pretty sure it has to do with what I eat. It is sooooo hard for me to eat. I am trying to get to 80 g of protein each day and keep my carb intake as low as 20g a day. When I do eat, I get full for hours and thought of water makes me want to puke so it is hard to drink water as well. I need some advise .. Is 56 pounds in 2 and half months ok? or am I just crazy?

Hi friends! I am 5 months post-op. I am soooooooo exhausted all the time. All I do is think about napping and sleeping. Probably extremely dehydrated as well because I rarely drink. Should I incorporate caffeine daily? I take my vitamins daily. Eat around 900-1000 calories a day. Just tired of being tired.

My doctor put me on two weeks of clear liquids which I am wrapping up today. I have lost 17 pounds in those two weeks. I am shocked but happy. Tomorrow, I start full liquids. I have been worrying about that move because while I am excited to eat something different, I don't really want to deviate from my current path because I don't want to go back to old habits - eating just to eat or because I want food - not that I need it or am hungry for it. I have been reading about people not being succesful or gaining weight. I don't understand fully how this happens. If your stomach is smaller, how can someone eat beyond what they are supposed to eat?? So, last night, I …

One would think that after drinking protein shakes since before Halloween that we would learn what is good and not good by now.. LOL Nope.. This is a case of I settled! I settled for less.. but no more! Today for the first time ever i made my shake with milk instead of water.. What a difference!!!! We will constantly be learning.. Why did i make it with milk today? Because for lunch i had ham/pickle/cream cheese roll ups.. and come to find out it was only 1g of protein LOL.. Shows you how much i planned today.. I just assumed it would have more.. but because i flopped that I needed additional protein in my shake. I added a tablespoon of PB2 to my chocolate protein and m…

I got sleeved on Dec 18th (going great so far, 40 lbs down!) but I decided not to tell anyone at work besides a few close colleagues. All my friends outside work know and I am super open about it otherwise. Even had a puree party for my b-day. It's just I had tried mentioning it to a few coworkers pre-surgery and got a lot of judgmental push back about how I should just try harder and do Keto so as a result I figured it was better to just keep to myself. Problem is I am normally an open book and pretty chatty at work too so I think the mystery of why I was out of the office for a few weeks over the holidays for surgery is making people wonder what's wrong. They kno…

Hello, I am seeking advice from anyone who converted from lapband to sleeve and especially if with a lower BMI. I scoured the forum but didn’t see any similar stories): Here is my history, briefly(: I had lapband 12 years ago (self pay in Mexico) and was successful. I had reached my goal weight and 24 BMI! (with some ups and downs along the way). That was until three months ago when I had a severe food poisoning and the associated vomiting. I was very sick and violently vomited at least 20 times. This left my band very irritated and I was barely able to drink two weeks later. I thought the band was slipped. When I had a fluoroscopy/esophagram there was…

I am 3 weeks post op and on soft/puréed food stage. I had a tooth extracted earlier this week. Between that, which has been causing me to sleep way longer than normal, and not being able to drink while or shortly after eating, it’s been harder for me to get all of my fluids. I think yesterday I ended up with maybe 30oz total. I woke up today, late as heck, feeling sick and dizzy. I don’t know at what point I should consider going back to get an IV (this was mentioned in my post op and my appointment with my dietician as what may need to happen after this week if I couldn’t get my fluids). My surgeons office is closed, but is part of the hospital I would be goin…

I am 9 days post-op and I was not prepared for the emotional roller coaster that comes along with this surgery. Yesterday, I woke up with 0 energy and just feeling like an emotional wreck! Spent most of the day walking through a fog and crying. Luckily the nurse from the hospital had called to check up on me when I was feeling my lowest and reassured me that the way I was feeling was normal. That we were Psychologically starving and would naturally go through a lot of ups and downs as our hormones are shifting all over the place but would eventually settle down. She said we will go through spells of were we are burning up and then at times will be cold and that this is t…

Hi all! I'm 1 week post-op and know that some experience acid reflux after getting sleeved. If this happened to you, can you tell me at what point? Was it shortly after getting sleeved or once you started on solids? Also, as you lost weight did your symptoms improve? I never really experienced acid reflux or heartburn prior to getting sleeved, so I'm hoping I'll be okay, but I'm curious about others' experiences. Thanks in advance!

I know I’m only 4.5 weeks post-op, but I’m concerned about how to get enough nutrition when limited to 4oz of food. I’m still on puréed, so I’m hungry all the time. Last night was my first time back to exercise, and I had no energy. How will I have enough energy to work out when I’m only eating 4oz meals. I know some will say to not exercise for a while, but I’m a group fitness instructor and can’t just quit.

I had a lap band placed in 2011. On the 9th of this month, I had it removed, a hiatal hernia repaired, and a sleeve done. I have so many mixed feelings about this whole thing. 10 days post op and wishing I had just had the band removed. Anyone else super emotional and not sure they made the right choice?
