Who has had the sleeve? How did you do? Pros and cons? Would you do it again?

I’m planning to have either the band or the sleeve and would love to hear back from people who had either of these and your thoughts? Did you have success? Did you have complications? How much weight loss and how long?

  • My advice would be not to do the band. Many surgeons don't even do them anymore. I was sleeved on 12/4/18 and would do it again in a heartbeat.

OMG! Lost so much weight so quickly! how? what was your routine?

We all lose at different rates. Age, medical issues, body physiology, and medications can be factors. I would have been fine if I lost in in a year or more.

How?

I have the sleeve. I did not expect fast weight loss. I followed my surgeons plan. I logged my food, Hit my calories/macros and exercised.

Exercise Routine?

  • first months walking.
  • Third month I stalled and started a gym membership. I did elliptical and a bit of weight lifting 5/6 days a week. Increased intensity/resistance on cardio machines.
  • Fifth month Took a women's strength training class (It was a game changer) Took up distance running.

Had the sleeve. No regrets what so ever. I had it'll the surgery 7/23. Went to dr office at 238. Pre op weight was 221. Current weight 164.8
It's not a magic pill. You have to change your mentality. That has been challenging but seeing all these results encourages me to keep making lifestyle changes so I can keep this weight off permanently.
Good luck with what ever type you choose. It was life changing for me!!

How long did it take u to get there ? That s Stephen my starting wait and my goal

Hey Lolo2020
The loss was quicker earlier on and has slowed down since. But I was losing anywhere from 2-4 pounds a week initially.
Take advantage of this honeymoon period where you're not "hungry" so you can make better choices. For me the hunger hasn't come bk yet so I'm tstill taking advantage of that by eating healthy. I do have my mega sweet tooth that gets me. Ex Skittles.
I also weigh every day bc it keeps me in check. But I know that maybe considered obsessive to some but it's what works for me.
You can do it. Just focus on the prize and reward your self w a new shirt or pants.
That has been very exciting for me...buying clothes. Hope I've helped. Let me know if you have any other questions I can help with.

Thanks kris , how long did it take u to reach 165? Is that ur goal ?

I was sleeved 7/23 and I'm 165 now. So just under 6 mos he o lose the 74lbs.
my goal is 135 so I have 30 more to go?
Losing that much is great and I look so much better in clothes but geez naked not so much. At 44 your skin doesn't bounce bk and I haven't helped it much by not working out like I should. So if I were you try to do light weight training to build muscle so you do t become saggy. My "girls" are deflated and very very sad. BUT once I lose that last 30 pounds I'm going to give myself a goal of keeping it off for a year. So once I hit my goal weight I'll count 12 mos from then and if I keep it off and maintain (I WILL!!) then I'm treating myself to some new breasts!!

Woo hoo! Not far now ! How much does it slow down after a few months? By week ?

The weight loss I mean

I’ve weight trained mh whole life and worked out so not so saggy yet , am hoping I won’t have too much excess skin. But still have 40 pounds to get so we’ll have to see -

That's awesome for you!!! Only 40 pounds left for you to go?!! That's awesome!!

I am 2 1/2 years out and down 100 pounds. Gained about ten pounds back due to gym activities and muscle weight. It is the best thing for you assuming you meet the criteria. Get excercising as soon as you can and stick with it. You will never loose the loose skin aonit is what it is. Protein protein and protein. Drink you water.
