    December 2018 Sleevers!

Coexister- I have found the “inspire” protein crunchers and s’mores cookies to be a lifesaver against bad food choices ! Tons of protein and a bag satisfies !

How many calories do you eat a day?

I am at goal , 170lbs and lost 75lbs since 12/18/18 surgery . Don’t really count calories , still focus more on my 60g of protein , per my surgeon. I estimate I eat around 1200-1400 calories a day . Still drink a protein drink in the am and use inspire protein cookies and crunchers as snacks and have continued to lose 1-2 lbs a month , but really don’t want to go lower . Spin and walk every day . Still focus on water .

    Bypass or Sleeve

I have to agree . I had a hiatal hernia fixed during my sleeve in December and despite the repair the reflux came back with a vengeance . I am slimmer than I have ever been, 5 lbs from goal but had to increase my meds from lansaprozole to include famotidine as well and went from taking just am to pm as well However it’s manageable, I am happy with my new weight and there is the obvious benefits from not doing RNY- I don’t worry about dumping etc and my digestion is the same . Sounds like u have an extreme case and I would chat with ur doctor
  11. Why did u need to do a RNY after doing the sleeve ? Was cod reflux too bad or did the sleeve not work anymore ?

    Bypass or Sleeve

My understanding is that with bypass I would have had to be careful with exactly what I ate and sugar, fats, etc. I didn’t want dumping etc . I lost my weight quickly , I can eat at meetings and through work - can cheat a little and no issues with digestion or diarrhea. I feel great and weight is steady at my goal

    Bypass or Sleeve

I had GERD before and still have it after , have added Pepcid into my regime , but I was quite happy to get the sleeve because there are so many less effects to your digestion so that my post op life can be Fairly normal . And this was the case . Am down 70lbs and feel great . I say sleeve is best but it is ur body and ur choice

    Before and After Pics

Ur hair falls out because for about 3 months u r consuming 500-600 calories a day . So make sure u take ur vitamins before during and after surgery . I took flintstobes complete plus 2 biotin every day starting 6 months before surgery . They gave me Bariatric vitamins starting one week after which I still take (multi and calcium /magnesium plus a b12 nasal spray)

    Before and After Pics

You will do it . Just take it day by day . Try to get your 8000 steps in now and try to drink ur water as wel. I also took biotin 6months before my surgery so my hair wouldn’t fall out and I took the chewy multi vitamins as well . U have 3 months before surgery - prepare ! I also started drinking my protein shakes in the am (I mix with decaf hazelnut coffee ) it’s great in the am

    Before and After Pics

It is truly amazing . The albatross around my neck is gone! I do have to think and plan more - I bring little things of yogurt and cottage cheese and string cheese with me and buy some protein snacks, but the organization I now have to do is really worth it . I make sure I drink a lot of water but after 7 months the lifestyle and patterns are engrained . You will do great ! Just commit urself that for the first 3 months u will be perfect , then the habits are there !

    Before and After Pics

3 more months before surgery ? Thebsurgery makes it so much easier ! But U have to live the steps - the water , the protein , the walking , the exercise , the vitamins . I attacked it like it was my job . Was methodical about journaling everything and I didn’t lose hair, I felt great and only have a had a few instances where I had to throw up . It’s a lifestyle change , sure, but it is SO worth it ! Good luck !

    Before and After Pics

I had 70 lbs to loose and have lost it all
  21. Hopeful , Maybe my experience will help give u a realistic expectation . i started my journey at 245lbs in fall of 2018 and was 231 the day of my surgery December 18. I lost about 25 lbs the first 4 weeks and then about 10 -12 lbs the. Next 2 months , so 50lbs in the first 3 months . Weight loss slowed after that but of course it should cuz I was 50lbs lighter ! The first month I probably ate 400-500 calories. A day and got my 10k steps in and did spinning a few times a week . Months 4 and 5 I lost maybe 5lbs a month and now I am losing at a rate of 2 lbs a month . I eat 1000-1200 calories a day and weight 171, am 3 lbs from my goal . 2 lbs a month isn’t much but hey , slow and steady wins the race! I still eat protein first, don’t drink with meals, get my water and exercise in every day and am really loving life . it seemed to happen quickly .. stay focused on the long game .. u can do it ! But I never thought to “experiment”with food until after month 4. I was on a mission . Even so there are things I just will never eat again .
