  1. Hopeful , Maybe my experience will help give u a realistic expectation . i started my journey at 245lbs in fall of 2018 and was 231 the day of my surgery December 18. I lost about 25 lbs the first 4 weeks and then about 10 -12 lbs the. Next 2 months , so 50lbs in the first 3 months . Weight loss slowed after that but of course it should cuz I was 50lbs lighter ! The first month I probably ate 400-500 calories. A day and got my 10k steps in and did spinning a few times a week . Months 4 and 5 I lost maybe 5lbs a month and now I am losing at a rate of 2 lbs a month . I eat 1000-1200 calories a day and weight 171, am 3 lbs from my goal . 2 lbs a month isn’t much but hey , slow and steady wins the race! I still eat protein first, don’t drink with meals, get my water and exercise in every day and am really loving life . it seemed to happen quickly .. stay focused on the long game .. u can do it ! But I never thought to “experiment”with food until after month 4. I was on a mission . Even so there are things I just will never eat again .
  2. Take a deep breath . Am shocked u could eat that so soon after surgery ! But put it in ur journal and recommit to urself that u will follow the steps . It is the only way
  3. I lost a 10 year old , basically ! Down 70 lbs and 3 lbs from goal . Life is really good - before and after below
  4. Maryec , I haven’t needed any follow ups really and they don’t require them . My acid reflux is a little worse post surgery and I just did a phone call with the dr and then changed my Med . I do all my own weight loss charting and use my local dr to do bloodwork . I am in NJ so really too far to use him for anything but there has been no need . I read so many of these post where people don’t have enough restriction or have other issues and so happy I used him . I have had no issues and there is plenty of restriction.
  5. That’s so interesting ! I too find that if I eat a little more , a stall will break . Although also a good spin class and tons of water with lemon helps too !
  6. Thanks Steve ! Yes very happy ! About 5-6 lbs to goal !
  7. Wow , whomever posted that chart , thanks ! I lost 10lbs before surgery and 60lbs in 3 months . Was sleeved in December . Only losing 5 lbs a month now but 6 lbs from goal so expect it to go slow !
  8. Thank tae renee! Feel really good! a few more lbs to goal so I can say I was there ?
  9. Take renee, here’s a current pic - almost to goal ! I am in blue !
  10. Holy mother of god Steve , 12 oz of steak ? Omg I can’t even eat a bite !
  11. Steve274 do you really think the benefits of the sleeve wear off over time ? I certainly can eat more than I could at the outset post surgery , but still have trouble with any dense foods . I am still living on and frankly loving my protein drinks , cottage cheese, yogurt and eggs with a little cooked veggies . Difficult to eat salad quite frankly . My sleeve still seems very restricting
  12. Wow! Well done Steve ! Sounds like u r using discipline with a little craftiness to keep your weight in check . I am about 5 lbs from goal although most people say it’s enough . I am in size 10 clothes which at 5’9 is pretty thin . Still can’t believe it and I haven’t gotten used to shopping in this size ! Surprisingly I have done well using the inspire cookies and protein snacks to help a lot with any sweets cravings . Also use protein shakes a lot to substitute for the ice cream craving . It seems to be a plan I can live with and I am losing about 3-4 lbs a month which is more than fine!
  13. I weigh every day and try to keep calories under 1000, carbs under 50. Workout 5 x a week . Have been doing great , down 60 but this last month I only lost 6 lbs . Still I am about 12 lbs from goal so it’s the last bit and I am in size 10 and honestly wouldn’t be unhappy to be at this weight long term . No just dear regains when I am 6-8 months out from the sleeve so I want to overshoot my “comfortable “ weight
  14. Oh yes .. so I just bought a bunch of inspire cookies and snacks to stop the cheats . Lost 1.5 lb yesterday after doing that instead of little cheats
  15. He doesn’t require anything except the blood tests . I talked to him in early November and could have done it in 10 days but had to schedule it around Xmas to travel there . Very happy with my sleeve restriction and the whole process
  16. I am stalled as well,12 lbs from goal , 58 lbs down . Sleeved dec 18
  17. Screwballiski I think u have it down. It’s constant diligence and give a little, get a little . I want to lose my last 10 and I am going to have to tighten things up and review every morsel that goes in my mouth ! Not fun but necessary !
  18. I am down 60lbs since 12/18/18, last 12 or so to go and weight loss stalled . Have added in a lot of strength training because I couldn’t even lift my suitcase into the overhead of a plane ! Taking measurements and they are smaller so I am assuming it’s muscle offsetting fat loss , but truthfully with travel I have let a few bad choices sneak in . Assume I have to buckle down and eat perfectly and exercise to get to goal . No shortcut here it seems !
  19. Omg well done ! You’ll be in onederland. In no time !
  20. I was sleeved 12/18 and down 58! Guess we are both on the right track ! 14 more to go to 168
  21. Yes ! Don’t go to Mexico! I researched and found dr Shillingford in boca Raton florida . Did the entire procedure for $10,500. He has great reviews and specifically set up his program for non insured folks who wanted safe but reasonable surgery . I had a great result and am down 60lbs since 12/18
  22. I am on my last 20lb goal - scale has t moved in 2 weeks but I was on vacation and then traveling ! I started today and have recommitted myself to get this 20 off!
  23. I think I lost alot of muscle in the last 30 lbs , my arms are much thinner than they ever have been and so as my calves and thighs . I like to be strong for my riding competitions so now I am going to really try to fet some muscle back , irregardless of the scale . I can’t even lift a 50lb bag of dog food and that just isn’t me !
  24. I’ve had a few sips of a vodka tonic to be sociable , am 3 months out and bubbles don’t work for me . One glass of wine on a beautiful sunny afternoon did go down nicely but that’s it . Not at goal yet so why waste the calories
