So my issue is I’m always full. I don’t want to eat because I’m not hungry. I drink a protein shake in the morning and maybe a little yogurt or scrambled egg. That keeps me full most of the day. It scares me because it’s hard getting all of my protein in. Surgery was 12-7. Is this normal?

  2. Started by JennieJuniper,

Hi everyone! I was sleeved on Oct 1 2018 and have done really well. However, I woke up a few days ago with a killer cold (I hope it’s not anything worse!) Any issues with taking OTC cold meds? I know my extended release anti depressants didn’t absorb as well, so will 12-24 hr meds work as they are supposed to? I was cleared to take Advil again after 2 months post-op, so not worried about that ingredient. I did call my doctor and the receptionist said I can take whatever I want and won’t have any issues, but she was vague and unhelpful.

Hey all! I’ve been worrying a little bit lately.. and thought I’d come on here to ask/talk about my worries and all the good stuff ?? next week I’ll be 6 months post op from vsg (July 9, 2018). My highest weight was 248. Pre op weight was 235. Current weight is 194. I’m 5’3” with a medium build. So, I’m down 54lbs total and 41lbs since surgery. The past two months I have only lost 3lbs per month. Now, I know that’s better than zero.. but I can’t help but be upset that I am only losing 3 pounds a month. My surgeon/team has my caloric range at 800-1200/ day and I’m averaging 1200. My protein goal is 60-80 and I’d say I average 80-100. I do cons…

Had my surgery on 12/20/18. First month, required to take vitamins in powder form. I just can't keep the powder form down. So chalky and disgusting! Threw it up today. Any suggestions on getting the required nutrients? Others that have had this surgery for a while, when can you take pill form?

  6. Started by Niabird,

I’m a very nearly 40yo mom and wife who has been on the weight roller coaster since probably birth. Im self pay and booked in at Blossom in Vegas around president’s day. Most days I’m sure this is the right choice since I just cannot keep near a healthy weight, but other days I think that a starting weight between 225-230 (depends on time of day) is not enough to justify this drastic of a change. Any input?

  7. Started by notmyname,

So, the nutritionist at my surgeon's office is less than useful. When I ask her questions like does she have any tricks for getting more protein from non-dairy foods, she just says "There is a protein list on page 17 in your book." Yep - I know, I've read the book cover to cover several times. I'm asking for practical tips considering I only eat veg and seafood. So, I decided to make an appointment with the nutritionist at my other weight loss clinic (this place is GREAT - it is run by an endocrinologist and has endocrinologists, psychologists, nutritionists, and exercise specialists and holds group classes on everything from CBT to psychological issues in weigh…

I got gastric sleeve about 10 months ago. I feel like I'm eating too much and haven't really lost any weight for about a month now. So I'm worried. I have my next appointment soon, but I figured I'd ask people here. ❤️ If you're 10+ months post op, how much do you eat in one day?? Any tips on how to keep losing? I'm starting to exercise more too! I just get hungry easier now!

  9. Started by veroa,

23 days post-op. Feeling ok physically, but full of fear and anxiety and have no idea what's going well or not. I'm weighing myself weekly and last week I only lost 1 lb. WTF?! Considering that I'm starving (finally this week I have pureed food) and only "eating" liquids. I'm taking in my 64 oz fluids and reach my protein requirement almost every day. But I'm taking in very few calories --rarely more than 500. I expected significantly more weight loss that one f@#$ing pound. Am I crazy?

  10. Hi all, I’m currently 7 months post op, and wanting to know what everyone’s meals are like quality and quantity wise this far PO. I believe I’m still eating very small for someone this far out. I’m having 4-5 small meals a day 4-5 ounces roughly 120 grams. A normal day for me consists of multiple cups of coffee with skim milk 300-500ml of skim milk a day. Breakfast: Oats with blueberries and strawberry Mid meal: Protein shake 20g protein Lunch: Meat and veggies 100-140 grams (Chicken, Fish, Prawns, Beef Tuna etc) Afternoon tea: 30 grams of nuts Dinner: Meat and veggies 100-140 grams (Chicken, Fish, Prawns, Beef Tuna etc) I’ve reached past my …

I am having my Sleeve done on 1/17/2018 at BariatricPalMX and am excited and nervous at the same time. Anyone going the same time that I am? Anyone already been there and can give me words of encouragement or pointer?

  14. I see a lot of content on here about constipation but I am having a different problem. I am 4 days post- op and my stools look like little rabbit poos and every time I move bowels it is an explosion of gas along with those weird little stools? It is like doing a colon cleanse sensation. Some of those stools float and I don't get that since I am not eating any fat on my post-op liquid diet. Should I be concerned? Anyone else had this issue?

Well, almost exactly 6 months post op (VSG 6/1) I weigh less than 200 pounds for the first time since...since I don’t know! College probably? Feel great, no longer stressed about getting my protein. At the gym 2 or 3 days a week, actually enjoy working out! Down 86 pounds, 10 inches in my waist (size 46 to 36), no longer snore, and have so much more confidence. My wife and kids are proud of me, for the hard work I’ve done and continue to do, and for taking care of myself. I’m off all meds, only taking vitamins (instead of 2 blood pressure meds). My work is scheduling new professional photos for me because I don’t look like the person in my old pics anymore. I always fi…

I am going to try and start weekly i guess. I dont know LOL i just know i need to stop stepping on it every day.

I just received my letter of consent from my Dr. yesterday and I have my first appointment with my surgeon on Saturday..Im nervous and excited at the same time! Its almost like an outter body experience because I have been thinking about surgery for years! What a way to start a new year huh?! Any advice on what to expect during the pre op process would be great! Thanks in advance guys!

I have done my research and made the choice to go with a gastric sleeve. I quit smoking last month and have since gained about 10 more pounds. I plan to have my surgery at Ohio State University and have sent in my application. My husband and I are both going to do it. I am so anxious about the application process. OSU has received my application, but I don’t have an initial appointment yet. What can I expect at that appointment? My BMI is just under 38, hypertension, and insurance covers the surgery. Any experiences would be helpful if you don’t mind sharing! Thanks in advance.

Hi, I had surgery 12/17 in that first week I lost 20 pounds. This second week I have just gained and lost the same 2 pounds, I'm ending week 2 higher than I ended week 1. Is this normal?

  21. Started by Dubs12,

Surgery was 12-7. I was 384, today I'm 349 and feel great. This is the first time I've been able to get on a scale at my house in years. Sorry, I'm ranting. How long does it take for eating to feel natural? Certain foods still feel awkward.

  22. Started by Laner,

I'm entering into soft foods (hallelujah! Never thought scrambled egg could taste so good!). Anyway, I'm trying to follow doctor's orders and take 20-30 minutes to eat, but by the time the tiny portion has been sitting there for 10 minutes, it is cold. Anyone have suggestions other than cottage cheese or egg salad for soft foods that are already cold?

I also still need to tell my mom what im doing. I just know telling her would open it up to other family members bring told. I dont care if they find out after the surgery. I just dont need opinions. My boyfriend says I need to let my mom know prior to surgery just in case. How about as im being wheeled into surgery? Lol all in all I'm like everyone else.....nervous about surgery but can't wait to start this part of my journey

I was sleeved on 10/2/2018 and am down 47lbs. I feel like my progress is slow but steady. I’m actually in the 250’s for the first time in YEARS! My hubby and I have a Vegas trip planned in January and my gift to myself if I’m under 250 is to go horseback riding for the first time ever. I’ve never been under the maximum weight in my adult life so I’ve always avoided doing it. I know it will be cold but I don’t care. My butt will be freezing doing something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m so excited. Now to continue this hard work. I’m about 60ish lbs from where I think I want to be, which is under 200, and it finally feels like a realistic goal! Here’s to being sexy in Vegas…

Coughing and any abdominal surgery is very much living poo, but, my skin and hair also need to become so oily that I feel all slimy. Ugh. I mean I'll live but, ewe

  29. I am a teacher, so I have been on winter break. I cannot wait for my usual eating patterns to return. Unfortunately, I do not eat in normal intervals when I don’t have work. Then, I get starving, and then make bad choices ugh! Anyone else have this problem?

  30. Started by DeeberLee,

I woke up this morning, so happy that I had the WLS. It may have taken me three years to make the decision to have the surgery. However, it's the best thing that I've done for myself in years. This time last year, I woke up disillusioned and resigned to the fact that I would always be overweight. I'm also happy that I found these boards. Just reading that there are people out there who have some of the same issues that I have, makes this journey easier. I can't stop smiling. I'm just happy this morning!

I am 3 months post gastric sleeve. Before surgery my heart rate stayed around 100 bomb, resting it would be between 80-90. In this last week or so my heart rate stays around 70 bpm, but at rest it's between40-50 bpm. Is this normal. I feel for the most part OK. I am having what feels like anxiety, like my heart is racing yet it's not. Anyone else have similar issue?

Has anyone ever been so zoned out before surgery that they don't remember a thing? When they got ready to take me down to surgery I was given an injection of what ever and don't remember being wheeled in surgery, getting on the table. I barely remember someone saying this is only oxygen and that was totally it. I don't remember recovery (my husband said I was in there for 2 hours), I don't remember leaving and taken to my room. I barely remember someone asking me if I thought I could walk to my bed (gurney could not be taken in the room). I barely remember stumbling (I had a lot of help) to the bed, don't remember getting into bed.

  40. I am 12 days post op. I have only had 1 BM since surgery and that was at 5 days post op. I have not even felt the urge to go. I am still on liquids, I have a hard time getting all my liquid in. Am i constipated? How often should I be having a bm?

  41. Started by JustinH,

Does anyone regret having this surgery? Be honest, if so and why? Just want to know what others are going through before I commit.

  42. I have been ill almost constantly since my surgery on the 10th. At first I didn't pass gas for four days. I was concerned but after being able to have a bm, my body decided that it would only tolerate any type of food on one of two conditions. I either have an upset, angry stomach or I'm in the bathroom shortly after consuming anything. Has anyone heard of this? Is it a normal side effect from the surgery? Down 35 pounds since surgery though [emoji3]

Anyone had their surgery at Pompeii Surgical Center in Tijuana? I have just been approved and will be scheduling my surgery date soon. I am just nervous as to what is to be expected?- like how was the travel into Mexico? -who do you go see for your post op appointments when you’re back in the Us? - is the facility clean? - who has had Dr. Quinnones perform their VSG? - is their a lot of pain afterwards? Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Am I the first one with a March 2019 date?? Just found today I’m scheduled for March 5th! I’ll be having the procedure at the University of Miami. I live in Key West, Florida. No doctors here perform the procedure on our little island. I’ll be traveling 3 hours to have the surgery. So excited!!

I am 2 weeks out and every time I get on the scale the number is lower. Once or twice it's been the same, but never HIGHER! When has that ever happened in my life? Nearly never! What a wonderful Christmas miracle that has been made available to all of us so we can get started on a losing journey! I already barely remember the pain and discomfort and am now just looking forward to being cleared to work out. I never could have done this on my own and I'm just so grateful!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. Started by Niabird,

For anyone who traveled for their sleeve, how was your aftercare handled?

  50. Started by Beachladee3,

I think its unrealistic to not expect myself to partake in holiday treats. The trick is moderation and getting right back to clean eating. Having all the stuff in the house is too hard not to take a taste. But, its gotta go soon!
