  1. Hi there, I am wondering if there's anyone from Canada who has had surgery and wondering how you dealt with your provincial health care. Looking for advice on what is covered and what was not. Were you able to claim anything with CRA ? Also if you had blue cross coverage how did that go ?

I was debating whether or not to post about this, as I haven't seen a lot of screw-ups on these pages, but I've got a doozy. I'm five and a half weeks out. I've been following my (very restrictive) diet to the letter almost all the time. My only deviations were a little Thanksgiving stuffing and some regular cheese at a party, where I'd brought deviled eggs for myself but didn't plan on being there so long and DO YOU KNOW THERE'S A LIMIT TO HOW MANY FREAKING DEVILED EGGS A PERSON CAN EAT IN FIVE HOURS? Lesson learned on that one. Next party I brought something I could live off for a year. Holiday parties everywhere. Anyway, the cookies. So, yesterday was a crap-tastic day…

Ok this is not the most modest of topics but I have to ask......my surgery is tomorrow and not even joking, my period decided to start a week late (I had thought I just missed it), and it started late last night. Has anyone been on their period when having surgery? I’m totally mortified right now ?

I am very new to church and just religion in general! And, my new church recently approached the topic of the Daniel fast. I am interested in paarticipating but nervous. I am curious if anyone here has done it as a post op patient? I am almost two years post op so it's not like I'm a newbie so I feel like it'll be possible. But I am concerned with lack of Protein. I am not the best with meeting my daily intake goals but at least I get some in. On this fast there's no meat so I will have to be very creative with protein. Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks in advance

I had a question, can you smoke omit for pain killers when I come home? I don't mind having it at the hospital, but once I'm home can I smoke marijuana for pain? I really don't like pills ever since I had a pill addiction in 2002. Does anyone smoke weed on here, ONLY for pain?

It has been almost 5 months since my surgery and all my incisions healed no pain at all but all off a sudden my bigger scar, is hurting, nothing major but when I touch it, it hurts. I don’t see my doc till the end of the month. Has anyone had an issue like this before?? Thank you

Hi, females. I am 11 weeks post-op. My sex drive is nonexistent. I have none. It is starting to annoy my bf. Also, when I do the deed, I am in sooooo much pain because I am as dry as a bone. Anyone else experience this? In my 5 years of being sexually active, I have never had pain. Thanks!!

I am four days post op. I was told to walk 15 min every 2 hours while in hospital. How much am I supposed to be walking now? Should I be getting up in the middle of the night to walk still? Second question - why is my stomach so bloated? It is constantly making noises. Thanks!!!!!

It is only in the muscle under the incision my stomach came out of, but it is definitely still sore. Is this normal?

Stopping in for a minute to update with information others might find useful:) Don't intend to stay cause leaving the forum was a REALLY good idea for me:) It had become a daily habit that was sort of obsessive and weird...too much time spent here. It was time to refocus on other things, and I'm glad to have done so. I'm rooting for all of you in the trenches, though, and wish you every success! Hit goal at the end of July, 170 lean mean pounds, eating Mayo Clinic Diet around 1400 calories per day. Yep, I eat carbs. Tons of them. LOL. Mostly good carbs, though. I avoid refined stuff for the most part, but I do eat a lot of whole grain bread, protein pasta, whole frui…

Hi, I’m signed up for sleeve at the end of Jan. My husband is supposed to travel with me to watch me after the egd and after surgery. He tells me this won’t work on me, I’m old ( just turned 50) and it’s my metabolism and workout schedule. He says I’d be better off getting a bunch of lipo and I will just ruin my body with a lifetime of naseua and vomiting and not getting any results . He says I just need a personal trainer. Though I know none of this is true it’s giving me second thoughts. He says I don’t eat much so this wouldn’t work. Well obviously I do eat or I wouldn’t weigh 200 lbs, prediabetic and 35 BMI. Sadly, he is an addict and Shoujd get this or be supportive …

Need a little support , I had my sleeve Jan 7th. My Italian father came to visit and cooked one of our favorite meals today, so while he and my husband are relaxing over a cigar , my entire house is filled with the smells of the delicious meal in the oven all afternoon. Never mind that my adult boys , along with my hub and dad all had appetizers all afternoon. I finally had to come up to my bedroom, although my entire house smells like the food now. I thought it wouldnt bother me as I am not hungry , but to sit there all day was just too much. I’m hiding upstairs. I don’t want anyone to see me upset. This surgery was my decision, right ? Ughhh

Getting ready to have surgery on Monday. Excited but then have bouts of being SUPER scared and nervous! Wondering how it’s going to be and if I’m going to have regrets. I want to know I made the right decision. ? after 5 months of preparing, years of failed diets and regains, I made this decision. And I can’t help but feeing nervous and wondering if it was the right one. Anybody else feel that way?

I had my sleeve surgery in November 2016. Pre surgery weight was 470. After 2 week pre-op diet I was 440. This week I weighed in at 220 pounds. That's 250 pounds LOST and it's been easy. I am insanely glad that I made the decision to get this surgery. I've heard stories of people who gain weight back after this surgery, and it baffles my mind because even 2+ years later I still get full so quickly. I can't imagine how anyone can eat too much with such a reduced stomach size. I know instantly that I cannot eat anymore once my stomach is full. I know instantly that if I took another bite I would feel physically ill. Anyway, I am beyond happy with my health and the way I loo…

I had Gastric sleeve done in June 2017. Everything was going good and 2 months ago I lost my dad and my dog all within the same week. I’m suffering from high anxiety between dealing with my emotional loss and preparing for my wedding in 3 months. Now I’m just eating to eat and I’m scared to gain my weight back. Any tips? Have anyone done a pouch reset? How can I get back on track?

  22. Hi everyone I've been lurking these boards for quite some time pre op and found you all to be very useful in keeping me motivated so I thought I'd finally throw myself in and start posting. I'm from the UK, England and was sleeved on the 28th December so I'm almost 2 weeks into my post op journey. I was on the milk diet for Christmas day so I've figured if I managed that then I can manage any day. Things are going well and I seem to have had a super fast, pain free recovery compared to some from what I've read on here. (Sorry if anybody is going through a difficult recovery and is reading this - I don't mean to rub it in!) I'm looking forward to getting off of p…

So I’m about 2 1/2 weeks post op. I do have bipolar disorder where my mood is more depressive with short swings in to manic phases. I take locate for it and it works just fine. I was fine emotionally up until a few days ago and I’ve just been on and off crying since. The other night it was waking up at 3AM to cry and last night my boyfriend had me take my full dose of lorazepam to calm down enough to fall asleep. It seems like it’s getting worse because I woke up this morning and have just been really weepy, pretty much since the moment I opened my eyes. 24. I don't know how long I should actually take off of work. My surgery is on a Friday so I took off the weekend and that Monday. How many days or weeks did you guys take off. My Dr said it was up to me how many days I actually take off because I do not have a strenuous job and no lifting is required so he said a few days then I should be okay to return.

  25. Started by MeanSleevedMachine,

I was 477 the day of my surgery (489 heaviest weight) and yesterday I went in for a blood pressure check up with my primary care doctor and was 416!!! I had surgery on May 10. So about six weeks. Granted I have been walking 5 miles a day. I’ve been waking up at 5 am and lifting weights five days a week for the last three weeks after I was cleared to lift. I’ve been eating about 1200 calories a day. 120g of protein or more a day. Still is is almost too good to be true. I don’t weigh myself at home because I don’t want to be discouraged during stalls.

I have a special occasion coming up in April and I really want to lose the last 48 pounds by then. I don't know what else I can do to lose it. That gives me about 11 weeks and I don't know what to do to lost that much weight in that amount of time. Please don't think I'm not thankful or grateful for where I am. I'm so much healthier. Hello everyone! Hope you are all well on your weight loss journey. I had VSG in September 2016 and it was the best thing I have ever done in my life. I went from 300 lbs to 199 a year later. After my surgery I was very committed to working out 4-5 times a week, and eating the appropriate amounts thanks to the restriction and not feeling the hunger. However, I am now 2 years post surgery and I am struggling. I stopped weighing myself regularly and was shocked to see I am at 217 lbs. My clothes feel tighter, my body looks a little looser (since I am not working out regularly as I used to) and although my restriction is still there, I am having troubl…

I was sleeved in May, 2018 and before Christmas was having moderate pain in my upper right side. Was sent for an ultrasound and they found gallbladder sludge which I wasn't told about until this week cuz doc was on vacation. Over the holidays, I did indulge in some favorite high fat treats. Last week, before I was told and after N.Y.'s Eve & day (with more fatty favorites) the pain did get worse and seemed to spread upwards into my chest. It didn't last long but was intermittent for days. When the doctor called I told him this and he immediately went to removing the gallbladder. I had my surgery back in April 2014 and then in Dec of 2014 I suffered a bad miscarriage that caused such depression I had myself hospitalized and put on meds. I was on them until April 2018. Anyways this past week out of the blue I have been having anxiety attacks come back. I gave in and called the doctor today to restart the meds. My question is there a connection to anxiety after surgery if you aren't taking the vitamins and such like you should? I have no clue what my numbers would even be right now.

I’m 3 weeks post op tomorrow, and feel better overall than I expected. I sometimes forget that Imcant take these big bites of food, and to slow down. I was having a terrible time with diarrhea, but figured out it was the vitamins, and so I switched. Problem solved but now the scale shows I’m up 6 pounds since Sunday! Let me start by saying I am still so very happy I had the surgery. If I could go back I would still have the surgery. However this surgery has made me HATE FOOD. Everything I eat gives me acid. I never had acid reflux before. IT SUCKS!! I don’t want to eat because of it. If I could go through life without food I would at this point. Water doesn’t even taste the same to me anymore. Uggh. Thankful for my surgeon and his team because so far the surgery has made my body much more healthier. My new take on food though is... it would be nice if we could live without it. So totally not intentional (I have PCOS and literally never get a period) but I am 98% sure I may be pregnant. We do want kids and the main reason for me doing this surgery was to hopefully get rid of PCOS AND have a child. I have only bled twice since surgery, once with medication just to shed the lining which was about 2 months ago. Well I’ve been feeling crampy but no period so I decided to take a pregnancy test and it came back positive. Hello Peeps, Is it just me or does it seem like there are only about 10 active members on this forum? It seems like it’s always the same handful of people posting and responding. Occasionally there will be a new person, they will ask some questions and then disappear. Then someone might show up and there will be an argument and then they disappear. We could definitely use some more members on this site in my humble opinion.

My insurance doesn't require any structured diet but the surgeon requires a 3 month structured diet which is understandable. So I'm 4 weeks out and am cleared for soft things, meant included. So, I thought rotisserie chicken thigh meat was pretty soft. Have tried 3 times now to eat 2 or 3 ounces of it and I have gotten SICK every time. No barfing, but miserable fullness, nausea and pain that lasts for hours! Feels like it isn't digesting at all. Is that a thing? Is it hard for the tiny pouches to grind up meats? I have stopped even trying that at this point. I can do ground chicken or sausage-like consistencies, but I don;t even want to LOOK at my fave rotiss. chicken now!

Went to the doctor today and the gallbladder is bigger than it is supposed to be. He thinks it’s sludge that doesn’t get transported. He gave me a medication that is supposed to help uncramp to help get the sludge out. So far, I still have pain (even slightly worth). Did anyone else experience something like that? If yes, what did help? And I am not talking about taking the gallbladder out. ;-)

  45. Hi all, I’m 7 months PO and have been fluctuating between 70.8 - 72kg for a while now. I’ve reached my goal weight but I’m just wanting to know what everyone else’s fluctuations are like at goal. How do you handle these fluctuations mentally. I struggle when I see the scale go up because I question my eating and ask myself “am I eating too much” but in fact I know my eating is fine and I’m not eating much and everything I eat is healthy food. If I were to guess I would be consuming 800-1000 calories a day. I’m happy my weight loss seems to have stopped. My eating hasn’t changed.
