Sleeved 10/09. Started to finally feel good but now I’m getting sharp pain under my right breast. Thought it was gas but it’s not moving. Gas X not helping at all and I do not have a gall bladder. I also feel blocked sometimes when drinking or eating. Related? I don’t know...Anyone else experience this? (I’ve lost 46 lbs so far. I don’t eat much. I can’t take vitamins-they make me sick. I’m not drinking anywhere near the required fluids. All of this my doctor is aware. I’ve had a really tough time. IBS is not really bad and it caused a fissure.)Thx in advance.

Hi guys! This is my first post here and I’m so glad I found this application! Anyway I am 3 weeks post gastric sleeve and I cant eat or drink anything. 10 hours ago I had 2 tablespoons of soup, and I’m still full and get disgusted around food. I have no idea what to do because I’m starting to get dizzy and I know I have to eat I know I do but I just cant! Same thing with juice cant drink it! Also I’m only drinking about a liter of water a day. Please help me because I seriously don’t know what to do.

Yesterday at work I overheard 2 of my co workers discussing my weight loss. I've known both of these ladies for awhile. Neither of them are over weight. We've even discussed weight loss issues and so forth. They do not know about my surgery, to me it's a personal issue. They were discussing how I could be losing weight so fast. I must have done "something." It kind of hurt my feelings. What difference does it make? I'm just trying to get healthy. Should I say something to them or not be so sensitive?

Hello all! This is my first time posting in this forum. I'm 10 days post op for VSG and everything seems to be going well. But, I'm scared to death that I'm messing up somehow. I'm getting my fluids in and taking about 3 ounces of broth/soup/blended soup or protein shake every few hours (on full liquids at this point). I'm taking in about 12 ounces total of non-water/full liquids. I'm not really feeling hungry or anything. My fear has to do with feeling full. At first, I was feeling pain in my stomach when getting "full" but that sensation has pretty much gone away. I still feel a twinge when I've had enough soup or whatever, but I'm just wondering if this is "norma…

I’ve noticed a bit of a morbid trend in the forums lately and wanted to pipe up. This decision is the best decision I have ever made for myself. I am happier in my own skin in a way I can’t remember ever being. I’ve lost about 125lb minimum since thanksgiving 2017 (too ashamed to step on a scale but easily over 300lbs). Now I’m 7 months out and god even at the most painful point in my recovery did I doubt my decision. This changed my life. I will forever be grateful I had the strength to go through with it. So newbies and pre-surgers.... make the decision if it’s right for you and don’t let fear dictate your choice! (Old Photos: December 21st and 23rd, 2017, new p…

Feeling so miserable today. I saw my surgeon yesterday and he was unhappy with my progress. I got sleeved on Oct 31. I have a heart condition - AFib - which I try and manage with Bisoprolol - a beta blocker. I just take them when my heart rate increases to over 140 beats a minute. Side effect is weight gain / slow metabolism... it’s almost impossible to lose weight and recently I gained 2.5lbs because the AFib has been getting more frequent which means more medication to stop it. Not sure what I can do and feeling hopeless right now. My cardiologist said that if the first cardio ablation didn’t work (I had it in June) he might need to do another but I really…

I bought my students fresh, warm bagels for our Christmas party. I really wanted one so bad and was thinking about having half. However, I decided to just eat my protein bar first. Now I’m full and satisfied! No bagel for me! Therefore, if you’re craving something, just eat a protein bar first, or anything, and see if you still want that item. 4 months post-op and still learning. Also, I don’t trust my sleeve in public with new foods ????

I have really bad spine cramping and spasming to this day as a result of getting lap band to sleeve surgery.. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this pain. I have herniated discs and had a few cortisone shots but I’m still in pain at all times... has anyone heard of this before? Any advice?

Had my sleeve 12/18 and have sometimes found myself lamenting about all the Christmas I don't get to partake in. Hubby made me some decaf peppermint tea and it is soothing and makes me feel a little Christmas cheer. Just thought I'd pass that along to my fellow December sleevers who can tolerate warm fluids.

So I'm 9 weeks post-op today and in my second stall (ugh) and we had a work lunch today. I made the conscious decision to have a sourdough roll. A large one. First of all, I couldn't eat my salmon salad after that because I was full (duh) and second, I'm EXHAUSTED. I'm fighting sleep at my desk right now. I've tried bread one other time since my surgery and had the same reaction. Apparently, after almost 3 months on a very low carb/no refined carbs diet, my body can't handle processing that crap anymore. It's a nice thing, but I basically made the conscious decision to torture myself. Lesson learned. Bread is a no for me unless I want to use it as a sleep aid! Does…

I’m 5 months out and still consuming 2oz of food at a time so basically I never have enough room for veggies ☹️. I do eat 5-6 times a day instead of the normal 3 times. Just curious what others are consuming at this point. Dietician would like my calories to be higher but said it wouldn’t effect my weight loss if I couldn’t.

So my specific doctor/nutritionist has told me to be on clear liquid diet (no protein powders) for a whole 7 days after my surgery. Im on day 5 and slowly the hunger is eating at me. My diet is pretty much a f*ck ton of sugar free crystal light, jello, and the occasional strained chicken and noodle soup. (and water) tonight its finally getting to me. Ive experienced mild dumping after the strained chicken and noodle soup, but honestly im willing to risk the dumping for at least a sip of my favorite Atkins protein drink. Any tips? (btw i cannot stomach broth it makes me wanna vomit)

Hello All! I was just wondering if anyone here had a boob job prior to having gastric sleeve or any weight loss surgery? I had my boobs done about three years ago. I finally got a surgery date and I am wondering how they will look after I lose the weight. I know they are fake, so I'm hoping the shape or form doesn't go from them, but still a little nervous as I've read some of the forums. I'm wondering if I should start saving in order to have them redone after the weight is gone. Anyone have experience with having fake boobs prior to weight loss surgery and how they turned out after?

Hello friends I was wondering how the journey is for seasoned sleevers and what advice you could give for us beginners. I have read a lot in regards of weight reverting and stabilization, physiological changes etc... How has the post-op experience been for you guys??? What would you have done differently if anything? I just wanted to give a big thanks to whoever it is in here that recommended the egg bites from Starbucks! I went to DC this past weekend and there was a Starbucks in the hotel.. YAY! I got to try the Cheese and Bacon. While i could only eat half of one.. it was absolutely flipping amazing LOL.. Between that and the Pepperoni and Cheese box from the Smithsonian i was in heaven LOL. I am back home now and stopped and Starbucks on the way to work this morning just to try the egg white and red pepper. I have to wait a few more min before eating it because it has not been 30 min since water yet.. but THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! You saved my weekend!

I had my sleeve surgery Dec 17, 2018. The process was rather stretchy in the beginning. Iv,urine screen needle in stomach. Blood work. Last weight. After surgery the pain was horrific. I remember telling them im at a 10 a 10!! There wee guving me something that wasnt working. I remember a lady brung me a ginger ame with a straw. I immediately started sipping not thinking smh. I told her i cant have a straw or carbonated beverage. She told me it was fine. Which was not. I waited in recovery probably a hour. Then I went to a room. Pain was too much. I did get up and walk alot. I couldn’t release any gas only burping. I still cant stand up straight. The only incision that hu…

I had my surgery in April 2018. I took the vitamins like I was supposed to but found they made me sick to my stomach. I stopped after month 2. I went for my 3 month check up and everything was perfect. I have recently noticed my right foot starts to tingle like it's falling asleep and is sort of numb on the top. This starts when I get home and doesn't really get better until I get up the next day and start moving around. I started taking my vitamins again yesterday in hopes that it might be a vitamin deficiency. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, a few months back I posted a message talking about how rude my gastric sleeve surgeon was to me. He told me I was a failure, there was nothing else he could do for me, maybe I could get on Medifast, he didn't have to see me again, among other things. I tried to explain to him, I never had the restriction I should have had with my sleeve. He preceded to tell me, people, who don't do what they are supposed to do always find excuses. Well, well, well, guess what! He's the one who didn't do what he was supposed to do. I was able to get in with one of the best bariatric surgeons in the state and he immediately set me up for an endoscopy and barium test. Both tests ca…

I was sleeved 10/29 and am trying to set myself up on a schedule to do measurements and progress pics. I had originally thought I'd do them every month. But I did them this week and it was a bit dispiriting. Pics look the same. Lot inches in my bust/chest and legs, but almost none in my hips/waist. I've also lost a fair amount in my fingers (so much that my rings no longer fit on my ring finger without my being afraid they'll fall off, so I wear them on my middle finger). And this after losing 20# since surgery and 40# total. So I know its working, and I'm not going to get discouraged. All that said - what is a good schedule for doing progress pics/mea…

I had gastric sleeve in 2011. Lowest weight was 148. I now weigh 195 lbs. Where am I going wrong. I heard that I can reset my sleeve is this true. If so what do I do. And does the sleeve stretch itself out. My highest weight was 275. And for those who say this surgery is cheating I've worked harder at keeping my weight down with this than if I just pitched a tent in the gym and lived there. Lol

I know this is entirely a very, very subjective question to ask, but I was hoping for a general idea. For those of you who have arrived at your goal weight and/or currently in maintenance (even if it isn't your goal weight), would you be willing to share a little info about what you believe your daily calorie intake is, and how many hours a week you spend doing exercise. Please include the weight you are maintaining if you don't mind and gender and age if that isn't too personal. Are you surprised by how few calories you can eat or is it better than you expected? I'd love to hear from anyone, even peeps who spent time in maintenance and regressed. I spoke with a girl…

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum. I had Gastric Sleeve surgery July 23, 2018. Starting weight 238....current weight 171.6. Surgery recovery was very easy for me. Hardest part I think is changing the way I think about food and bad eating habits. Everyday I have to work on that mentally to change the way I think about food Only negative from the surgery I would say is the hair loss. Still with that I have no regrets and am very happy with the results this far and the direction I'm headed. Does anyone have a lot of hair loss after surgery?

So, I was supposed to get bypass 15 years ago. Two days before my surgery, my gallbladder decided it was done with me. After nine months of driving to Boston weekly it was going to be be post-poned two more months and I was kinda freaked out so I bailed. Five years later I went to a different surgeon in Burlington MA, still a shleap drive but, more manageable. Halfway through he got called to activate duty. Scared the poop out of me and I vowed never again would I try. I did lose 100 pounds seven years ago and I did keep many of those lifestyle changes. I don't drink soda, only drink skim milk, learned to love veggies and water just lost the pool I once had acce…

Hi all! My surgery is next month and my pre-op appointment is tomorrow. I've gained a few pounds since my last weigh-in a couple months ago. Did any of you gain weight after approval? If so, did it matter? My pre-op appointment is tomorrow, so I'll find out then but I wanted to check in with everyone here to see if anyone else experienced this.

I have never been made to feel so inadequate in my life. I am so disappointed in the way Brian Gary treated me. I received the gastric sleeve surgery from him on 09/12/2017. From the beginning, my very first visit with him was not very pleasant. I should have taken that as the red flag it was and taken my business elsewhere, but against my better judgement I preceded with him as my weight loss doctor. He didn't feel I needed the surgery. I would have rather him tell me he will not perform my surgery and for me to get another doctor. My visit with him on 10/17/18 proved to be the most disrespectful way I have ever been treated by anyone, especially my doctor. I have not lo…

I'm in my early 40's and have dealt with weight issues my whole life. It is now affecting my lower back (sciatica) as well as dealing with BP issues. I'm just tired of dealing with it and am ready for a change. I have dieted, Nutri'System'ed it, and Weight Watched till I'm blue in the face. I enjoy good food but have come to an understanding that enjoying good food and having it in moderation are a problem. I have surgery with Dr. Bagnato on July 27th. I have started the Sugar Busters plan and will go to my pre-op this Wednesday (July 18). I have been reading many, many threads dealing with this procedure and feel that (along with my doctor) this is the course of act…

OK, so I heard of the lawsuit thing, but they're still selling the product. Have they corrected the formulation? They boast 3x better absorption than traditional whey. There's apparently a "Gen2" formula. From all the reviews I read, it seems great.

Surgery at 8:00 this morning, heading home as soon as they hand me the paperwork. They told me what made the difference for me is that I got out of bed and started walking as soon as I got to my room. Fought through the grogginess and pressure. What they say is true, the more you move, the sooner that pressure goes away. They've been keeping me full of pain meds today, so I know I will have an awakening once I get home, but at least I will be home! Thinking about all my fellow December 18th pals!!!

I had my first appointment with my Bariatric surgeon yesterday! So exciting! He is confident that I will reach my goal weight within 6 months post op. I hear what he is saying. I hear everyone on here. I can rationally think that the surgery will help me reach my goal weight. However, it seems unreal. I can’t imagine not being overweight. I can’t get my mind wrapped around the idea that I am going to lose weight. Did anyone else experience these thoughts? It just seems too good to be true.

Hi everyone! So I just visited my psychologist today, and she is the obligatory psych visit that some insurances require in order to get approved for surgery. She was telling me to realistically expect to lose only 60-65% of EXCESS weight after the gastric sleeve. THIS IS VERY DIFFERENT THAN WHAT MY SURGEON AND ASSISTING DOCTOR HAVE TOLD ME! I am currently a female, 280lbs right now, 5'7. And if someone would ask what my goal weight would be, I would say around 140-150lbs. Also I use to be a lap band patient, and my lowest that I had gotten down was at 218, and started at 297. The psych today was telling me to realistically expect me to be a shy under 200 pounds with the …

Okay so I FEEl like I really need to poop but I just can't and I feel like its making my pain 10x worse than it was before is there anything other than walking that could help? I say other than walking because when I walk (TMI warning) I feel like I'm going to poop myself but I go to the toilet to let myself poop and NOTHING comes out just a reminder I'm only 1-day post op.
