Bread... oof

Recommended Posts

So I'm 9 weeks post-op today and in my second stall (ugh) and we had a work lunch today. I made the conscious decision to have a sourdough roll. A large one. First of all, I couldn't eat my salmon salad after that because I was full (duh) and second, I'm EXHAUSTED. I'm fighting sleep at my desk right now. I've tried bread one other time since my surgery and had the same reaction.

Apparently, after almost 3 months on a very low carb/no refined carbs diet, my body can't handle processing that crap anymore. It's a nice thing, but I basically made the conscious decision to torture myself. Lesson learned. Bread is a no for me unless I want to use it as a sleep aid! Does anyone else react the same way to refined carbs/bread?

Omgosh, you're brave. I haven't tried more than about 1 square inch of bread since my surgery. I'm the queen of scaredy-cats! But I am soooo craving a grilled cheese sandwich. Maybe I'll make one at bedtime 😉 so if I get sleepy, it's a good thing!

Dang. I was told never to have bread ever again! Or potatoes, or Pasta, or rice... Never, ever going to chance it. Us bypass patients have the dumping risk that you don't... but the diet in my book is the same for sleeve and bypass.

Cauliflower bread!! I ordered some from Cauliflour but haven't tried it yet. My mom says they are fantastic.

Warning TMI ahead! I haven't even had my surgery yet but I've been eating extremely clean for about two months now. No breads, rice or Pasta. No added sugers. meat only on the weekends. EVERY TIME I've taken a bite of something I shouldn't have *a bite of wife's crab roll last weekend, and a pulled mushroom sandwich on sourdough the week before that) I PEE FROM MY BOOTY!

I can't believe my body has the nerve to dump already!

Not really mad, because it was stuff I shouldn't have eaten anyway. 😝

I can't do white bread at all - it bloats me completely! I can eat 1 slice of toast without too many repercussions though. I can eat a small amount of rice, Pasta or potatoes, but I always eat the meat first.

I don't even get the chance to dump, too busy errping up. My surgeon said yesterday keep trying gently to eat, but if that fails the TPN should sustain you, just keep up with meds, Vitamins and minerals also. Wasn't planning such a pist-surgery life, but this journey is MINE even if it isn't a straight line to where I am going!👈😕👉🎢🚙

I have no issues eating bread. I don't eat a lot of it, of course, but, if I really get a craving or I'm out with family or something, I may have half of a biscuit/roll. I don't feel any different after I eat it though.

food comas , yes some of us get them from random things. I don't actually eat bread( the very few times I have it's always been some weird alternative I concocted, artisan gluten free experiment I tasted at someone's request, in a foreign country under the guise of another name, etc. So I can't say it's the bread because that doesn't happen often enough)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
