Forgive my daughter's disgusting room and mirror - I don't have a mirror in my own room (you know how that goes). But I guess I'll be wearing a Medium to Pride this summer when I'm home in Ireland! I bought this in Old Navy on Black Friday last year knowing I would have the surgery in Feb - I wanted to hedge my bets and get a Large, but my daughter made me get a Medium. I hoped more than believed it would ever fit - but here we are! I could even need a Small by the time Pride rolls around in August - but maybe not with how slowly I lose, LOL. (I'm not LGBTQ myself, but I am an Ally and my daughters and I take part in pride every year when we are home becaus…

I had my sleeve April 19th, the first 2 weeks I was losing weight but after the second week I have just stopped losing. The scale stopped moving up or down. It's been the same for 2 weeks now. I'm eating the right foods, walking and doing as much as I can on my side. Has this happened to anyone? I'm feeling confused and have moments of regret since I still have pain from time to time.

Had my sleeve surgery June 26th, 2018. I’ve lost about 120 pounds total. I’m at 165 right now (goal was 180). I’m ready for a tummy tuck and breast lift!!! But after trying on my new BIKINI today I’m thinking maybe I should save the $20k and just enjoy a being skinny with a little bit of extra skin lol. I just wanted to show some before and after pics bc I know that looking at other people’s helped me when I needed some motivation and hope! So here they are! I’m happy, healthy, and proud of where I am!

I had my sleeve done 4/23, and I'm on "soft foods". At my 2 week appointment with the surgeon and dietician, the dietician told me that I need to learn "intuitively" what it feels like to be full, so she doesn't really push the whole "measuring out of foods" thing. I'm wondering if anyone else's dietician is the same, and if you have been successful with not weighing out foods and just knowing when to "stop", and learning what that true "fullness" feels like, without over doing it?

As of this morning I am no longer obese, just overweight. I have 29 pounds to my goal weight, and only 14 pounds to the doctor's goal weight. My 7 month anniversary was yesterday. Just as important- MY 6 MONTH STALL BROKE. I stayed the course and did what I was supposed to do, even when I got zero results for over 2 weeks. But my body did what IT was supposed to do and got its crap together and the losses seem to have picked up again. I'm amazed at the success of this tool and proud of myself for my VERY hard work, in spite of my imperfections. I genuinely can't believe I'm in this position. I even signed up for a fitness evaluation at work, and based on those …

I'd been doing so well since my surgery, but the last two weeks have been brutal. My stress level's been high for months because my teenage son's struggling with mental health issues and been out of school since September, but I was managing to stay on program. (My work suffered, but that's another story.) Fast forward to a month ago, and my 11 year-old daughter has been diagnosed with a debilitating chronic pain syndrome no one in our town knows how to treat. I went into full mama bear mode, researching everything and reading medical journals and locating a treatment program some five hours away at one of the best children's hospitals in the country, but my daughter's ge…

I am like 7 weeks post op and I’ve been dealing with a stall for almost two weeks and it’s making me feel worried like I am the first medical mystery case that didn’t lose weight. My dietician told me not to count and to just eat consciously and that’s what I’ve been doing. Protein first and almost no carbs because I don’t even have the room after the protein. Granted, I am not exercising like I should but not losing doesn’t make sense looking at how little I can eat.

I recently attended a fraternal organization dinner where I ran into a friend who I haven't seen in over 20 years. We were seated at the same table and a conversation soon ensued. It turns out that he had gastric sleeve surgery six months ago and has lost close to 90 pounds and needs another 30 to get to his ideal weight. He said at the rate he's going it shouldn't be a problem. I don't tell many people about my surgery and I didn't inform him. When I go to these types of affairs I eat my food at home as per my food plan and usually don't eat at the function. I do utilize a tip that I found here on the forum, I put some food on a plate and move it around as I have my co…

I have finally come to the realization that I may be relying on protein shakes out of pure laziness. I can clearly get all of my protein from food at this point and I can use then as creamer in coffee but I end up tossing a lot of it out. I may give them up fairly soon or use very rarely. At what point were you able to give them up and rely solely on food sources for protein ? VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 169

it had been so tough week so i have been overeating since then I have already gained 30 pound but I don't want to get it worse since I had my procedure on Nov 2017 . I still feel pain and full but I can eat more than I could right after the surgery I am so afraid from stretching I have become so obsessed with the idea of stretching can the stomach stretch with this fast ? I never reach my goal weight and went back to overweight . I am thinking that even if the gastric sleeve was the right procedure for me as it didn't help me with my overeating . as I isn't easy anymore as I don't have the full feeling as before. It was a huge decision for me to have that surgery, and …

I am 4 weeks post op and just starting soft foods. I feel like it’s so vague and I hate that I can’t just get a structure for this but instead have to figure out what works for me. I feel like a fish out of water and that I don’t know what to have. I dont know why I’m so confused by that? my period is a week late and I’ve been spotting and extremely hormonal but it’s not here yet. I have random thoughts running through my kind of regret. It’s not really regret it’s just more that I’m just feeling not confident and unsure and wonder how long that will last for and hoping it’s not just forever. I’m still on anti nausea meds because I get it everyday. …

The other day I attended my monthly group meeting that my surgeons office offers. Any new prospective candidate for WLS has to attend one meeting as per the surgeon. I myself found my first meeting to be very informative as I was allowed to ask the veterans questions that I had about the procedure, life after and how they felt about their experiences. One reason I go to the meetings is to share my experiences and to answer any questions the prospective surgery candidates have. The group is strong with veterans and it runs smooth as everyone is polite and will allow for a cross flow of opinions and experiences. My last meeting was attended by a woman who had WLS 10 ye…

Having been over 300 lbs the last 10 years I've always been the heaviest in a room. Now that I'm 284 I'm closing in on not holding that title. I'm going to a function in the next 3 weeks and some have not seen me since I've lost 54 lbs. I'm hoping for 60 by then? I really dont want the attention or people to ask me about it. I'm just not sure how to handle it without bring rude.

Woke up ready to make a drink that required Torani Sugar Free Syrup , don't know why but I remembered it having sucralose. wrong. Acesulfame potassium. tossed it. Chose Starbucks Sugar Free Syrup instead which does have sucralose, but then started to wonder about all artificial sweeteners, again. Sigh. Slippery slope. Tossing them all. Just a small amount of info below (a video that references research and journals, and a journal reviewing research) for anyone who would like it and if you conduct any research, please add it for others to see. And by all means add info to the contrary if you find that also. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC377234…

I'm lost. Sick of protein drinks. I'm not sure what to eat or the amount of food to make. I was thinking about making some meals and freezing but don't know what to make. What to buy. My husband doesn't understand that I can't just go eat a donut to get my calories. So anyways that was a long way to ask for things you all get from the grocery store.

I'm having my surgery on June 5th. My insurance had me do that whole dance of going to a therapist and nutritionist for several months before they approved it. I was cleared in April, and set my date for June so I could go on vacation and do a few other things before the surgery. It still had not sunk in that this was happened. Yesterday, I got email from my doctors office with what I needed to do next. Get my labs done, start my diet a week out, and my last appointment and class with my surgeon. That really hit, and I'm excited, and very nervous. My anxiety is at a 10 right now. I just got off the phone with the hospital and I paid them (bonus: I hit my out of p…

Hi May 2018 sleevers! I hope you all are doing well. This year has flown by very quickly. I am down 80 lbs. and have just 20 more to my goal weight. Hall says his findings have implications for the diet wars — vegan versus low-carb or low-fat diets. "They all have something in common. ... Proponents of healthy versions of those diets suggest that people cut out ultra-processed foods." He says that this elimination might account for at least part of the success that people have on these diets. Popkin says the take-home message for consumers is, "We should try to eat as much real food as we can. That can be plant food. It can be animal food. It can be beef, pork, chicken, fish or vegetables and fruits. And one has to be very careful once one begins to go into other kinds of food." https://www.npr.org/se…

Hello! My name is Taylor and I am 25 years old. I am 5' 4" and my weight fluctuates around 235-250. I've struggled with my weight since I was a pre-teen despite being active. My mother got gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y) about 10 years ago and has been very successful. I've tried many diets (WW, Profile by Sanford, Whole30, Keto, calorie counting) and nothing ever sticks and I always go back to my range weight of 235-245. I can never lose more than 20 pounds and always end up going back to the weight I've mentioned above. I would love to get this surgery sometime soon, and I am in the process of setting up a consult with a bariatric surgeon. I have a trip to I…

I’ve noticed recently that I am able to eat more than I was before. I had one occasion where I ate too much and got sick in the past but other than that I have eaten small, below the size portions that I should (bc I stop as soon as I feel anything). Is this normal? I have had a huge fear since surgery of screwing this up. I know I haven’t overeaten over and over to screw it up but how is it I’m able to eat more? I am still losing. Slowly but surely. Goal Dr set was 145. My goal is 135. Started st 231 Pre op-221 Current weight-143 I am very happy with the weight loss. I just want it to stay off.

Hi! Interested in moving forward with the gastric sleeve. I reached out to a surgeon and they want my insurance info to move forward. I really am looking to have this surgery done between Sept - Nov. How fast does this process usually take before scheduling surgery? I don't want to reach out too soon, but I also don't want to wait last minute. How far ahead can you schedule vs how soon? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I am exactly one week post-op as of today. Was wondering if anyone has had pain in the incision where they removed your stomach? I have been fine every day since the surgery. I'm not sure if I'm on track or if I'm being too hard on myself so I'm fishing for other people's results I guess you could say. I had VSG on 2/20/2019. I was 273 that morning at the hospital but came home at 279 from fluids (I suppose since it surely wasn't from eating ). Today I am 231. There have been several days of no movement on the scale, which discourages me because I know I'm not eating much so it's frustrating! I have my 3-month post-op appt. on Monday and am hoping to see 229, which would be 44 pounds according to their scales since 2/20/2019. Granted, I've never lost 44 pounds in 3 months so I'm pleased but I'm just curious.
