I'm have a time with the choices of soups that will help me through my 2 weeks PO sleeve. I have been drinking low sodium chicken broth, no sugar popsicles and jello, Gatorade, water, and protein shakes. I was wondering if I added tomato soup, in there to give myself a different choice, would it be wise? Another thing how do you take down the 64 ozs without feeling too full. #POSLEEVEDAY5 #DOWN9LBS

Hi Everyone, I am about 9 weeks to my one year surgery date and 30 pound left to meet my goal. I lose very slowly, I guess because I am 62 years old and dont have a lot of energy to hit the gym all the time. I have lost 55 lbs so far, does anyone have any ideas on jump starting my weight loss so I can meet my goal?

Hello everyone! So i am less than 24 hours away from my surgery and i woke up twice last night full of anxiety and excitement. This is been a lifetime in the making of taking full control of my health. It hasnt been an easy journey ive had people ask me if im sure about my decision, ive heard horror stories and actually been accused of taking the easy way out. Which i think is stupid the easy way would have been lipo and this is completely different! I cant wait until this part is over and the real journey begins❤ Best wishes and dont quit!

I am 11 days postop and cannot, get rid of this itchiness on my stomach. I removed the tape from my incisions because, I do have an allergy to some tapes but I thought for sure it would go away once, I removed the tape. Anyone else have this or know what it could be?

  5. Had my surg on July 10 2018. Went to the ER a week or two later or a stomach pain...turns out it was pancreatitis. I started at 276 and now I'm at 216. I feel like I should have definitely lost more by now. ?

I can’t express the frustration and emotions I have gone through this past week. I literally feel like I am grieving. I got to the end of the Whole process. I used sick days from work to go to my countless appts. I paid for all these pre-op visits including heart stress test and echo that surgeon required for pre-approval. I have spent countless hours reading posts, watching videos, following journeys, making notes and lists. I paid for my surgery in full and surgery scheduled for July 18th. I was so pumped and happy that I finally had some hope of being able to walk without pain, get rid of this miserable sleep apnea machine, get on the right path to lower cholest…

  7. So I am coming up on my 1yr mark. While I am happy that I've lost 142lbs from HW in Feb 2018, 93lbs since sleeve, my weight loss has virtually been stalled. My macros are have been on point(1200-1400 cals, 90-125g protein, 50-60g carbs per day) while walking 4mi six days per week plus 1.5hrs lifting at gym 4-5 days per week. Per Apple watch, I am burning 4500-5500 cals per day depending on workouts but yet scale has not moved in more than 2lbs in two months. Frustrated as heck but I haven't let off the gas pedal. My personal goal is to lose another 35lbs while getting by BF 15-20%. Definitely have much more noticeable definition in arms, shoulders, and legs but yet scale …

  8. There was another thread where someone said they can never find anyone in the chat room. We chat in the evenings. It depends on your time zone. I try to check in early for those on the east cost. Last night we were chatting til past 1 am pacific time and the person I was chatting with was a couple hours ahead of me. Keep checking! You have to open a separate window and minimize it. Then what I do is read posts or email etc, and I wait for the doorbell that will ring and I will know someone came in. You can always private message someone too and ask them to meet you in the chat room at a certain time. I have done that before too. Chatting is a lot of fun and …

Seems like I do a great job at work sticking to my healthy eating habits - greek yogurt for breakfast; P3, tuna or chicken salad for lunch; protein bar in the afternoon. Then I get home in the evening and the craving for sweets intensifies times ten! I'm sneaking handfuls of cereal, eating my daughter's granola bars, etc. I have the calories to spare usually but I need to spend them on healthier choices instead of pure sugar!

Had my VSG on June 24th. Surprised how little discomfort I’m in. Haven’t taken any pain meds or anti nausea meds. Worst I have is a little tugging at the largest incision which is much like you feel the day after an ab workout. . The hardest thing I’ve had to deal with is hunger. Now the hunger I have is in no way like in the 2 week pre-surgery diet. That was torture. This is much more subtle. I received a follow up call from the nurse today who said this is perfectly normal as the swelling in my stomach goes down. The Ghrelin is reduced, not eliminated. Basically suck it up for the next 3 weeks. To make it more “challenging”, I’m also giving up smokeless tobacco. Good ti…

  14. Haven't been on BP in a long time. To embarrassed I guess. ^ mths ago I was 10 lbs from goal (140). This am I was 173. How did this happen? I know how it happened. I've been eating too much and too much crap. I prided myself on losing more than 100 lbs on eating less but eating everything. Including pizza, tacos, burgers, fries, etc. I thought I was invincible. I couldn't gain weight if I tried. I hought I was bulletproof. Then "IT" happened. The dreaded. I fell from grace. This morning I weighed 173. Wow. Never thought that would happen. For all of u that told me I would eventually regret "my way" of eating, u were right. I hang. Hanging my head in shame. I feel a hu…

I was wondering if the gastric sleeve surgery causes back pain. I have a lot of back pain and they found two herniated discs, can give an explanation on this? Is this pain common?

I lost my damn mind and pigged out on "cookie brownies", chips, and goldfish crackers. Like 1,000 calories worth in an hour. I usually don't even eat 1,000 calories in a whole day and I almost never eat that kind of crap. I feel terrible mentally but I might honestly feel worse physically. Kind of that feeling where you wish you could throw up so you'd just feel better. I'm going to lay down and take my punishment for what I've done. Blegh. Tomorrow is a new day.

Hi, I haven’t been in this forum in a while (life got really busy and the hospital I had my surgery at has a Facebook group/monthly meetings) so I got distracted. Just wanted some insight from others. I have an IUD and since I got it Oct of 2017, I have not had a period. Light spotting every no and again, but that was it. After surgery Dec of 2018, I had a medium period for two weeks following surgery. Seemed normal from everything I read. Nothing in Feb, had a 2 week one in March, week long in April, 2 weeks early May. Then I went one week without one in May and have now had one for almost 3 weeks now. My surgery was almost 6 months ago. Shoul…

  19. I had my surgery 6 days ago and I feel GREAT. I've only lost 8-9 lbs since surgery though. I feel like this is low compared to the other stories I read. Prior to surgery, I was walking 3-4 miles every day and using the elliptical. I know my body is not ready for the elliptical yet but when can I start back on my outdoor walks? I typically walk my neighborhood which has lots of grades and one good size hill. My goal is to find a personal trainer when I am able to get to the gym but for now I must rely on myself. I just feel so good that I want to start now, even though I know that is a horrible idea. I may feel great but my insides aren't healed yet. Kind of like how I rea…

Hi everyone! I used to post on here pretty regularly, but I have not updated any of my information in a really long time. As of today, I am just about 14 months post VSG. I currently weight 173 pounds after starting at 241 pounds, My personal goal is to weight under 169, so that is my immediate goal right now. I have been stalled at around 176 for the past few months, but that stall was my own fault. I wasn't tracking my food and I was eating a lot of junk. When I start grazing, it is pretty amazing how quickly my calories can add up! The past few weeks I have really tried to pay attention to whether I was eating because I was hungry, or because I was bored, stressed, et…

  28. Talking to a friend of mine who had WLS. (He is one of the few that knows about my WLS.) Since we haven't seen each other in awhile he suggested we meet to catch up on things. He suggested that since we both don't eat much we can meet at a diner and just get a bowl of soup. I asked him why he chose the diner to meet. He said that we used to go there all the time and that was usually the place we would meet. After WLS I'm trying my best to change my bad behaviors as it pertains to food. One of them is not going out to eat 3-4 times a week. I prefer to stick to a meal plan that allows me nourishment and has healthy choices. I told my friend that we are so hardwired to look…

It’s been exactly 3 weeks since I had the gastric sleeve surgery and I’m really having difficulty adjusting to my new stomach! Specifically, I am having difficulty gauging when I’m full. I’m just starting the puréed stage and I will feel fine when I eat a few spoonfuls of food and then I will feel terribly full and it is so uncomfortable! Oddly, I can drink a protein shake (10 oz.) or eat yogurt (8 oz) and I feel fine. When I try to eat puréed meat and vegetables, some how I eat too much. Do I really have to count how many spoonfuls I can eat? Most importantly is there anything that I can do to get relief from that horrible fullness feeling? I have heard other people say …

I just had my second follow-up visit after surgery and was told by dr. that I need to be eating more calories. I am currently eating between 500-700 calories a day and am literally full. I also have not figured out what is going to agree with my system yet and what is going to make me sick, so I have been sticking to safe options. But I was told that I need to be eating between 1000-1200 calories a day to loose otherwise my body will hold on to the weight. How long after surgery were you all eating that much in addition to drinking 64oz of water/liquids daily?

I am feeling so scared and ashamed right now. J was put on a full 2 week liquid diet so no food at all. I have been trying really hard but there have been a few days I've had one regular meal, I tried to keep the fat/carbs down but it was just killing me not go without actually eating something. I've lost a little weight but I'm mostly concerned about my liver. I have 3 more days before surgery and I fully intend to follow the plan to a tee. Has anyone experienced this before? We're you still able to get surgery?

That's alot to consume. i plan on getting that by protien shakes mainly because she told me focus only on protien and vegetables. anyone who said this is the easy way, told a huge fib because this is by far not easy and I don't know how im going to manage more because I'm so full for so long. Today, I ate about 2 oz of salmon and about 4 pieces of broccoli florets for lunch at 12:30, my appointment wasn't until 3:50 and i was still full. i t…

I'm about 7.5 months out and reached the 100 mark this morning (down 90 from surgery date)! I have 10 pounds to my physician's goal, and 25 pounds to my personal goal of 150, which puts me at a healthy BMI for my height on all those terrible, old, outdated (but still used) charts. I hope to be at my personal goal by my birthday, November 10th. I'm still really struggling with being active enough, which is becoming more necessary as the loss has slowed significantly (averaging about 1.5 pounds per week for the last couple of months). I have all the tools and resources to exercise, I'm just... not doing it. Time to get my @ss in gear so that I can meet my birthday…

I was sleeved over 2 years ago and now that I can eat whatever I want I completely understand the struggle. I am totally bummed. I was scheduled for VGS on Mon, June 17, 2019. However, as part of my clearance from my Primary Physician, I had to undergo a Nuclear Stress Test. Well, I failed. There was some slowing of blood flow in my heart. I have to undergo a Cardiac Catheterization on Wednesday. After that, the doctor will see if any further action is necessary if not, he’ll clear me for the VGS. I realize it’s better that this happened. After all, my surgeon would NOT want me to flatline while he’s stapling my stomach! It’s just so doggone disappointing. I was totally psyched up& ready for the big day. I was ready to start my new journey. Oh, well. This too shall pass.
