Hi——so I’m just about four weeks post op. Last week I got a terrible rash on my left breast. I went to my primary who said it was dermatitis and gave me two steroids. It has cleared up. This morning I woke up with the rash on my right lower abdomen. I was referred to a dermatologist. Has anyone had the ketosis rash? Does it spread like this? Is it tiny red itchy bumps? My appointment is not until Tuesday. It was the earliest one scheduled. Thank you in advance.

  3. If you ever feel like you're surrounded by know it alls (here or in real life) and want to scream/type "just shut up already" you're not alone. You're awesome. You're doing great. If your journey is totally normal and you're freaked out because you're NOT experiencing the myriad of issues you see here, I feel ya. If you're having issues, I hope you're finding the non-judgmental support you need. If you're not, I hope you find it. Try & remember the people commenting on every freaking post to chastise & bully are really talking to themselves.

Hi everyone! I have been trolling for a while, and asked a few questions and told my story, all with positive responses. Thank you! I have the following concerns for after the surgery but have been prepping for them (I have not received my date yet). Loosing my hair - I have increased my protein intake and switched to a good multi-vitamin with B-12 biotin. Is this enough or should I get an additional B-12 with Biotin? I also eat my protein, veggies then carbs at meals. I’m still working on chewing 20 times before swallowing. Getting too thin - I have a rather small amount of weight to lose in comparison to many here. I am worried with the sleeve that I wil…

  5. Recently passed 50 days post op & finally hit 30 pounds lost. I was firmly stuck in my exact same size 20 pants for most of that 30 pounds, not even loose. Finally, finally I moved into the "smaller 20's" and then bam, just a day or two later those smaller 20's were sliding off and I'm down to an 18. Zero issues to report. Really zero issues since a day or two post op. I'm past the first month anxiety of freaking out because I DON'T have issues. I don't think even think that hard about any of this most days. Yes, I count every calorie & log it all with my protein & water but I'm already doing that without thinking much about it. I still see yummy pastrie…

Amazing!! I am off my blood pressure and diabetes meds. Finally able to get 64 oz of liquids, and 75 g of protein. Lots of soup and thin shakes. Walking one mile in AM and evening. WOW!! Thursday is my four week mark. Had great energy today. Cooked a breakfast fro my wife, one mile walk and took car for an oil change. Got home at 1PM. Now, at 7 PM, feeling wiped out. I know in my head this might be normal, but I sure would like more energy. 75 g of protein and 64 oz of liquids (Three protein shakes, 8 oz) Just wanted to share and hear from this great group.

Today is the first day of my stage two diet. I KNOW all surgeons have different diets and stages, but this is a general question. I was clear liquids for the first week, and didn't worry about protein intake. Now I am supposed to start getting more protein in. So, this morning, I had cream of wheat with protein added to it. I literally could eat like 3 bites of it. I tried to get more, but couldn't. I'm not supposed to drink around the time that I eat and it takes me forever to eat. How do you navigate this stage? Get liquid, get protein, try new foods...it's impossible!!! I know it's day one, but I wanted some insight into how others are making this work. Than…

One week post-op today and visited with My doctor. I’ve graduated to full liquids! Yay me! I’ve never been so excited to see tomato soup in my life ?. What I’ve learned this week: by day 5 I felt like a normal person again, I should not compare my journey to others, and stick to the plan—it will get me where I need to be. Thanks to all that have been friendly and welcoming. Having support is priceless.

Hey I am having surgery on September 4th. My liquid diet starts 8/21. Anything I should expect going in? I am 29, 319lbs, 5'8'' with bipolar disorder. I have talked to my psychiatrist about this already and am going to keep her informed throughout the journey of course. I am scared and excited. I will admit I delved into the comments section on a facebook ad about the sleeve and got myself more scared but everyone I know has had great results. The only negative I have heard was someone who didn't follow the liquid diet after the surgery. So besides following doctors orders, any other advice or tips? What should I be prepared for? This is my first surgery!

I have an ache in my stomach. It is not always constant. But, it comes and goes. It situated lower in my stomach. I had a burning pain and nausea before surgery and it was located below my sternum. Could this be the same thing just lower, because they reshape the stomach with the sleeve? I do not know how to describe it. Maybe it's a burning? I'm not sure. In any case it makes me feel ill for the moment. Thank you for any input you may have. Also, I see my PA in 6 weeks, so I definitely will bring it up. I was having ot before and discussed it with her at 2 months post-op and she said we may need to do a scope, which at this point I say YES! Al…

I am suddenly experiencing a frequent sharp intermittent pain at the location of the main cut. Saw my Surgeon but he says it will go away. So he didn’t seem bothered. Just wondering if anyone has had pain months later and if it resolved on it’s own? Or what should I do to confirm it’s part of recovery? Secondly has anyone had a scan post surgery to check your insides to ensure all is well post surgery? Should I insist on a scan? Just want to be well.

Well, its been one hell of a ride that hasn't stopped yet. I was in 1 hospital for 44 days then transferred to Tampa general hospital for 10 days. Long story short I have a big whole where the esophagus meat the stomach. They put 2 stents in and had to take them out and put feeding tube in. I'm finally home with the feeding tube. I'm not suppose to have ice but I'm so thirsty. Any one else relate? How bad is it?

Okay, so....I've posted very little here. First post was in....January I think. Long story short, I spent a year and a half being bounced around by the clinic and my insurance. Finally got the approval in June, and I got sleeved on Tuesday the 9th. 80% of my stomach was removed, and I was told by my surgeon that I had a lot of scar tissue removed caused by my old lap band. I won't lie. It's been...rough. One incision gives me pain because it tugs when I move. The hospital stay sucked, but amazingly, I haven't puked once. When I first woke up post-op, the gas pain was *horrific.* And I think the nurses are sadists for making you get out of bed the day of. So tha…

Hi. It’s me again. I tried mashed up avocado. Bad idea! It feels stuck and gurgling and feels like it wants to come up. Ugh. I didn’t even finish half and avocado. I had sleeve on 7/3. It’s 7/13. So not quite two weeks. Maybe this is normal. It makes me sad because I love avocado’s. Looks like I need more time with the baby food. I’m a vegan so I’ve been doing fruit/veggie baby food, trying to get my 64 oz water (which realistically probably won’t happen because I typically do half of that), and at least 60 g of protein through a plant based protein drink (Owyn). Anyone else have same experience? Food too thick? There weren’t chucks, I mashed it up pretty good. Thoughts …

After the longest freaking stall I've ever had (just over 2 weeks) it finally broke and I dropped a couple pounds, and as of this morning I have officially met my doctor's goal for me! I now weigh 164.4 (goal was 165) and am aiming for my personal goal of 150 to put me at a healthy BMI. If I get there, I will take aim at 135 for my vanity goal. I'm becoming increasingly scared that I'll just stop losing now that I've met the doctor's goal, and I am trying to remind myself that by continuing to eat below my TDEE, and following my nutrition plan, I will continue to lose because that is science. But we all know emotions run high during this process, and sometimes my…

Hey guys, first post. I had a terrible first day after surgery because my pulse was too low to give me pain meds. Second day I felt pretty good and never had to take any of my pain meds at home. Felt really good, drank really well. Went back to work (retail) after 5 days. Everything had been mostly great until I started eating real food again the past couple weeks. I'm not eating much, but I am suddenly having issues drinking. Iced tea with Splenda seems to hurt now as does PLAIN ICE WATER. It actually seems to hurt the most of anything. At the moment my best drinks are sugar free Gatorade, but it still hurts more now. Anyone have experience with this? I have my 8 week ch…

I had gastric sleeve surgery about 3years ago. Since then I have been having boughts of back pain in my lower back. They did MRIS and found two disc issue in the lower lumbar disc. I had some pain (cortisone) injections but still have this pain. Could this be due to the gastric sleeve as it was a revision or a disc bulge issue?

Hi guys, Sorry for this TMI but I don’t know who else to ask. Ever since my gastric sleeve surgery, after I eat (no matter how much) I produce a LOT of saliva. So much so that I have to keep spitting it out. And it’s also really really thick. This just seems so weird to me. Has anyone else had this?

I’m on week two from sleeve surgery. Is it too early to incorporate mashed tofu? I got green light from surgeon yesterday to move from liquids to purée food. I had sleeve surgery 7/3. I’ve been vegetarian 15 years and vegan off and on. Now on for past year and half. I love reading about vegans on this forum who have been or are planning to be. You are my tribe! ❤️❤️❤️ I opted for bariatricfusion multivitamins but I’m going to go back to my plant based vitamins once I run out. There are a few deficiencies in the plant based multivitamins but I figure it’s because those vitamins/minerals low in multivitamin can be obtained from food. The vitamin I was usin…

First of all people "assume" that the sleeve (Gastric By Pass) is the "EASY WAY OUT". I'm here to tell you it is the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life. The only issue I have is eating enough or getting a variety of things to eat. Can anyone help out with that. I tend to stick to the chicken, beef, cheese, Premier Protein shakes and bars, etc. I am having difficulty finding recipes where I can get a variety in 4 oz portions. Also does anyone else have problems with constipation and if so, ideas. I do fiber and get as much liquid in me as I possible can in a day.

  40. Hi there, I am pre op for the gastric sleeve. I am a cash pay which is the only reason I chose the sleeve over bypass, I am a little nervous if the sleeve will be enough restriction for me. I need to lose 100 pounds. I struggle with emotional eating and sugar addiction. I’m just hoping there are other in a similar situation with success with the sleeve.

I haven't tried Cream of Wheat since I was young. I guess since that's all we had I was sick of it. They said on my 3 week Post Op diet I could have it but up till now I'd rather hammer a nail into my left toe. Until this morning. I was so bored with Popcicles, jello, broth, flavored water... that I bought some Cream of Wheat at the market. I also bought some grape sugar free jam spread by Smuckers. I added a spoonful into the cream of wheat and it was ok but not great. At this point I glanced in front of me and saw the grape Crystal Light packets and put some of that into it .. and WOW .. what a taste explosion ... it was nice to have something with texture for a change.…

  47. Back story is that 2 years ago, I started the process for weight loss surgery and the Dr. I saw told me that he believed that my best option was bypass because it doesn't allow me to cheat as easily and so I got it in my head that anything else would be a failure for me. Due to life situations, I was not able to take the time out to focus on surgery and recovery so I had to put it all off. Now 2 years later I am starting the process again and with a new Dr. I have also developed stomach ulcers in the past two years so he told me today that he does not feel good doing the bypass when I already have ulcers and feels that the sleeve is the safest bet. The biggest thing I'm dealing with is the liquid diet. BORING !! I have 2 more wks on liquids. Going to be difficult.
