  3. I’m hella picky my husband hates it and I got off protein shakes for awhile but I need to get back on them. Best milk chocolate protein that aren’t gritty for picky butts like my self?I’m also juicing! I’m losing weight still but I’ve got to get better.

Hi, I went for the consult yesterday & was very pleased with bedside manner of doctor..have been going back & forth deciding about whether to have surgery for about 5 years now but have to do it, sick & tired of feeling like crap, having to look for extended sizes of clothes, etc...I'm just worried that I can't do the diet, having the restrictions, etc...and the biggest fear of hair loss! OMG, I'm a fanatic about my hair but hopefully it does grow back as I'm reading?? I hope the diet isn't too hard to follow, so used to just eating whatever I want!! I guess those days will be over too..appreciate any feedback. Thanks!!

So I have started purées/soft foods. Here’s my problem. I can barely eat 3 oz. Will this improve? I get SO full I can’t drink anything for over an hour. I’m in this struggle of trying to drink enough and trying to eat some protein. Im so OVER protein shakes, I can only handle one a day. Im just wondering if feeling this so completely full after not even 3 oz. is normal. Thank you!

I had gastric sleeve in Dec. 2013 after having reached a weight of about 440-450 and everything went according to plan the first 18 months or so. Since the spring of 2015 or so, I have been stuck in the 285-305 range (I'm 6'3" and 43 yo) and have been unable to get out of that no matter what I try, to the point where emotionally, I am basically back where I was at my highest weight. I can't stand to look at myself in the mirror, and I'm either a) obsessively counting carbs or calories or b) not caring what I eat and engaging in secret compulsive eating (though on a much, much smaller scale—instead of a dozen donuts, I'm going for one or two and not telling my wife or…

Internal: I have listened to positive motivational podcasts, self-help books that I love. Trying to embrace this is a permanent lifestyle, eating, drinking, exercise change. At times I worry I'll eat the same types of food over and over. Then I look at Pinterest, cooking books and know I will still have fun cooking, eating, and being with family at meals. Just anxious about what work will be like with eating between patients. (I work at a prison.) I am 5 weeks out and have lost 54 pounds and am off medication (Blood pressure, diabetes) So, still EXCITED. My goal is to lose 120 pounds and keep it off for life!

I haven't been on here in a long time. I got very sick in the fall. Severe pain out of the blue and passed out one night and woke up on my bathroom floor. I'm stubborn as hell and went to the Dr. 3 days later, because you know, I was feeling a little better day by day so why bother going?? [emoji848] I was admitted to the hospital for several days with a severe infection and dx with diverticulitis. Thankfully days of IV antibiotics got me on the right track...if not I was looking at surgery to remove a section of my colon. Then I had a never ending UTI which is very unusual for a male. Turns out I had 3 different bacteria in my system, 2 of which could only be picke…

I’m in the pureed stage now for a month and I’m already bored with my food choices. I am rotating between eggs cottage cheese and pudding. I tried mashed potatoes and refried beans too. I need some help with ideas, so I won’t get bored since I have to do this for a month ugh! PS I don’t cook :)~

I need ideas for the soft food phase. My paper really only gives one suggestion... Can I do baked boneless and skinless chicken thighs with green beans? That used to be my favorite dinner. Any other suggestions would be great! I'll probably continue doing my shake shake in the mornings and my chicken salad for lunch. Cause by then I have already had 45 grams of protein for the day.

  17. This article just came out in my local paper. 8 people in my state have contracted the "super bug" in Mexico and one has died. There are many good doctors out there. But do not use Dr. Almanza. Every patient used him who contracted the infection. I personally recently had surgery in Mexico but I'm fine and I've had a great experience. I researched and followed the facility for 4 years before I made the leap. Please do your research. Cheapest isn't always the best. https://www.sltrib.com/news/2019/07/22/utahn-dies-after-weight/

So I am hearing varying things from my different providers about coffee post sleeve. The nutritionist says not until 3 months, the surgeon said 1 cup, my pcp said never. What are people doing? I am eyeing coffee flavored protein drinks for breakfast, but don't want to jump the gun.

I started the purée stage this week and I haven’t lost not even a ounce of weight for 8 days. I’ve actually gone up .4 ounces. What am I doing wrong? I’m having 4 ounce meals 4 times daily and I’m drinking like 50 MLs of water a day. I’m so losing hope... I’m stuck at the weight that I couldn’t seem to pass before I had the surgery as well. Help!!!! Did anyone else experience this as well?

I’m about 9 months post VSG surgery and I just started getting massive sharp pain in my stomach. It came on quite suddenly and hurts whether I’m standing, sitting or lying down. Any idea what this could be? Has this happened to anyone else? Prior to today I had been doing and feeling great! Thanks for reading!!

Hello everyone, after almost a 6 month process I was finally sleeved yesterday 5/29! Im so excited! I don't feel any hunger & I can barely get any water down before feeling full. I woke up from surgery extremely drugged up, a little nauseous for an hour, no pain (just feels like a did a bunch of sit ups.) I cant stay asleep for more than an hour and I’ve been peeing all that IV stuff out over and over and over again. My surgeon wants me drinking premier premier protein, but since Im lactose in tolerant I feel my newly smaller stomach will not hold it in or make me feel sick ? How was everyone else’s surgery experience? Are foods sensitivities pre op increased post op?

I can’t do whey protein shakes, so I’ve found a vegan one I like. However, it has 25g of carbs per shake. The whey ones have like 5g. What is recommended? It seems like a huge difference, but not sure if a big enough one to find a different shake.

  25. Started by dramermom,

Hi everyone! I'm 5 days post op. Since my stomach can only hold 4 oz at a time, does that mean I can only measure out 1/2 cup of liquids for each meal? How often can I drink 1/2 cup of liquids and not overfill my stomach? for instance, I have the premier protein clear that is 16 oz or 2 cups. How long should it take me to drink that? Do I just sip on one constantly until it's gone or do I measure it out 1/2 cup at a time? How long should it take me to drink the 1/2 cup? This is hard! I hope I'm making sense.

Hello, hello! Today is Saturday, only 2 days away from my surgery on Monday. I'm so excited! I have more energy than ever and I'm acting like a little kid at a carnival. Surgery seems to be the only thing I can talk about any more, and I'm beyond excited for this! I've had people asking if I'm scared, and I don't think I ever answer the way they want me to. If anyone asks me how I feel going into this, I tell them I've been dreaming of this surgery for years and am not in the least bit scared. This may be my first surgery, but that doesn't frighten me. I wanted to post on here because I wanted to share my happiness and I knew this would be a safe place to talk about…

I have been reading A LOT of support groups and many people are saying that after surgery they hate food, food makes them sick, water makes them sick, certain foods they loved they now hate, certain drinks they loved and now hate. Is this a normal thing? What causes this? I have a plan and am preparing by trying different things and trying to figure out for example which protein shake I like best, which water flavor I like best, saving recipes to try from purée foods, to Frozen slushy drinks ( I live in Florida) to have to still get my water intake and help with nausea. I scoured the forum for tips from people and came up with a revised list of things to try. I'll be adding to this and updating as time goes on but this is a lot to go on and gives me hope as I start my Pureed diet phase this weekend. Enjoy ! 1. Eggface Ricotta Bake (google it) 2. Green bean casserole (bariatric style) with canned chicken 3. Tuna casserole (bariatric style) with green Beans instead of peas 4. Mexican beef with cheese or beans with cheese (too carby for me--made me hungry too soon after eating) 5. Broccoli, spinach or cauliflower pureed with light cream cheese, lemon juice, s/p/g (steam the crap out of it first) 6. Smas…

I'll try to shorten this long story! Back in 2011 I had a lapband! Until about a year ago I was a model lap band patient. The surgery was wonderful, I lost 156 pounds in less than a year, and due to a horrid issue with reflux, hiatal hernia repair, and more reflux when the repair didn't "take" I'm here... about to have a new weight loss surgery in hopes of both "fixing" the reflux, and dropping the almost 60 pounds I gained when all the fluid was removed from my band. I'm a little nervous, because technically a gastric sleeve can make reflux worse, but after going back and forth and back and forth on the issue, my doctor still believes the sleeve will be my best …

Ok, I’m week 2 post surgery. Monday I switched to ‘full liquid’ diet. I STRUGGLE getting in 60-80 grams of protein! I’m drinking most of it, but I feel like I’m drinking every second of the day. I can barely stand the clear protein drinks, so I’ve been having shakes and water. Anyone else feel like this stage is never ending? Any advice on how you made it would be greatly appreciated. I’m struggling!

Hi all I haven’t been on this page in a long time but I need some help. I had my sleeve surgery back in 2015 and accomplished every goal I wanted. Great weight loss, improved health, improved vitality, and best of all, I felt great about myself for the first time in years. Here I am in 2019, not far from my annual follow up, and I feel HORRIBLE about myself. I have gained some weight back (not all, but enough to bother me). I feel extremely embarrassed about it and I feel like I have failed myself. I thought I had been feeling tired & down lately because of stress, but I am almost positive I figured it out this weekend. It is my self este…

Has anyone been on the rollercoaster where it seems like your sleeve loves a particular food and then as time passes all of a sudden it doesn’t.? For example, my sleeve “liked” the crumbled Jimmy Dean turkey sausage for breakfast. Today, my sleeve did not like it, not even the taste! I didn’t eat this every morning but the few times I did I had no problems and I was excited that I found something I could eat. Then today I ate a soft scrambled egg white and the sausage and I got extremely nauseous and stomach upset! This is so frustrating! I’m only 5 weeks since vgs, does things eventually stabilize?

Hey people! I recently started powerlifting. I had my first completion a few weeks ago, and since then I’ve decided to do a weight cut using an RP strength template. Problem is, it’s SO much food. I’m over 5 years out and figured I’d be ok. But when I measure based on macros, my goodness! Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can be successful with this as a WLS patient...without having to pay more money to RP and speak with a registered dietician?!

I am currently on my third week (yes, the dreaded stall stage) however, my main concern is that I have a large appetite. When I eat, I do get full after about three or four bites of a meal, but I am able to down an entire pudding cup, and am able to drink easily. My question is this: what was your calorie count within your first month post op? And did anyone else experience having an active appetite. My sister also had vsg done, and she said she was nauseous all the time...I hardly ever feel nauseous at all. Please help.

  44. Started by angie_is_losing_it,

Why am I getting hungry so often throughout the day? I had 75 grams of protein today... my nutritionist said that was a good amount for where I'm at. But I feel so hungry. I'm feeling so frustrated. I read about other people who say they have no appetite and how great it is blah blah blah... I feel dizzy when I stand up as well...and have no energy. I started at 349 and am at 308... I know this may sound dumb or whatever..but I felt so much better before this surgery.
