it's been 5 weeks post surgery and i'm still not eating much... not that i do not want to it is just i am not hungry and if i try to eat something more i feel full quickly... when does your ability to expand what you eat happens?

I assume it's different for everyone. I could drink (water/tea) way more than 4oz by week 2. food wise, I measure most everything to 4oz. And I think I'm just a week or two ahead of you time wise. I do get anxious wondering how long 4oz will be satisfying & if I'll want more at some point, but one day at a time!

Looking back at my food journal, I was eating about 450 cal/day at 5 weeks. I still feel full quickly, but can definitely eat twice as much now. However, make the most of the first 6 months. This is the time when the bulk of your weight will come off. Once the restriction lets up and hunger returns, the battle is much harder, as many of my Feb 2019 buddies are also finding. Embrace the restriction now. It is the gift that surgery gives you and it won't last forever.

Embrace the restriction hon. :) Look at this time as a challenge: How do you maximize deep nutrition and satisfy your Protein requirements most fully while eating your very small portion limit? Once you know what a meal consists of then you know how many meals to eat per day in order to get your protein down.

I was about 350-500 cals at your time and was able to get my 60-80g of protein in but little else.

Today at 17months, I could theoretically eat 1 1/2-2 cups of food depending on what it is. So your tool will heal with time and it's natural and expected for you to increase your servings. So this is a golden time for you! Congrats! Maximize it!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
