So, I had VSG on July 8. Things are going well, I am still just trying to figure out my tummy. It growls and gurgles a lot. I try to ignore it, but I’m wondering if I need to listen to it some, or if I just need to keep counting protein and doing my thing. Like, does my stomach THINK it’s hungry and it has to get used to my new normal? I’m just confused. TIA!

  2. Started by Sandra Nuelken,

I finally tried the chewable vitamins for Bariatric patients and hate them. Is there some vitamin I can take once a day instead of 4 times a day? Tiny swallowable is my preference. Do I really have to take those big nasty pills?

Good Morning all, Any Floridians in here? I am searching for some folks that are local to get together, hang out, and support one another. I do attend a support group here and they are great, but most of the folks support there, doesnt flow over. I am hoping to find ppl to bounce ideas off of, maybe go to the gym together and that sort of stuff. I know i am wierd LOL.. To all those here that are not Floridians.. Love you too.. dont want you to all feel left out. LOL

Hey guys! Ive had great success from the my surgery last April. Ive lost 130 pounds and about 40 pounds away from goal weight. However, the past several weeks (maybe 3 months) I have gained weight and I can feel myself wanting to eat more and more throughout the day. After I eat I still feel like eating another meal or snacking shortly after. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!! -Ryan

This was brought up in a 2015 forum....But I need an excuse. to tell my coworkers. If they found out I will loose my spot. I am a firefighter , so they will have no mercy.

  6. Is it too early to be concerned about not having enough weight loss? My restriction has lessened and I'm losing at a snail's pace. I'm so concerned. I lost about 5 pounds in June. Should I have had gastric bypass? How early is it to consider a revision? Help!!

  7. Started by Vance-666,

I am 8 days post sleeve and I hunger constantly. I am getting my protein in, and sticking (reluctantly) to liquids and puree'd foods (I threw some chicken and unjury protein in a blender). Last night, i had some egg drop soup and almost ate the whole quart between an early dinner and a snack a few hours later. Is it normal to be hungry?!? The egg drop was the only point where I consumed too much of something and it bothered me. I don't know how this is possible. What are y'all doing?!? Photo by Thought Catalog on Unsplash

I am 3 days out from my sleeve and feeling pretty good. Minimal discomfort. Admittedly, flying across the country to have it done, and then returning home 2 days later has its risks associated with it, but I just had a run in with a doctor that I want to talk about. My wife went into an urgent care clinic today to get stitches removed from an accident she had with some glassware. I took her in for it, and while I was there, I thought it would be a good opportunity to have my incisions checked out. They werent bothering me, but the largest incision's dressing did look a bit puffy and had some fluid built up due to a shower, so I signed myself in. Doctor enter…

Well I finally have my surgery date set for Sept 9. Been a tough 6 months (had to wait for insurance approval), but I made it., I am on vacation this week and I find myself taking that one last "fling" as far as eating and drinking goes. I'm back to all of my old ways and feeling very guilty about it but I just cant seem to stop. All my old BAD eating habits are back and it happened just like that. Is this normal? I feel that what the heck. Im having the surgery and if anything will get me back on track, that will., Anyone else had similar experience???

  12. Hi there. I had my surgery at the end of 2017, and have lost a total of about 75 lbs. I feel like I did well until early October, and have been at a standstill, with lots of bad habits from my earlier life coming back in to play. I definitely am a stress eater, and have changed jobs, I am dealing with some difficult issues with my kids, and my parents are having lots of health issues, so the stress has piled up. A lot of this was out of my control, but making big changes as a new surgery patient was too much for me, but here I am, and I have to deal with it. I started seeing a therapist, and have anti depression/anxiety meds which have finally seemed to level thi…

  16. Started by LizzieMmmkay,

I just received the call today that the bariatric team has formally reviewed my insurance information and I’m approved for the bariatric program! I don’t know what this really even means in terms of what to expect from this point forward, but the biggest thing (besides my butt) is that I’m moving forward!!! They said they’re mailing me all the enrollment paperwork for the program today. I’m so happy and excited to start this new journey. I’ve been walking a mile each day and watching my meals. I want to be in a good mind set to put my all into making this a lifestyle change that lasts. I wish the paperwork was here now, I am ready to roll, but I’ll bide my time, and keep …

Hi this is my first post, but I’ve found the comments in here very helpful, I just out about this 4 or 5 days after surgery. I got sleeved on 8/12/2019 I ‘m 5”6 and started at 241lbs and I’m down to 226 lbs, about 15lbs in 11 days. In general the pain hasn’t been too bad just some discomfort at night , I’ve had trouble finding a comfortable sleeping position. I’ve been managing the liquid diet without much anxiety, although I’d be lying if I say I don’t miss food. But I’m keeping my mind set on the goal. My target weight is 150lbs.

  19. Ever since I was sleeved 8 days ago, my dreams have been insane. To the point where every. single. one. is vivid, memorable, and makes me wake up questioning life. Giant wolves, super-hero antics, and scifi undertones. I have never been a huge dreamer. Sure, I would have the occassional nightmare or wake up remembering some epic story, but never in my life have I had it happen pretty much every day in a row. It's also to the point where the subjects of my dreams end up connecting to something that I discover a day or so later. My wife thinks I am becoming psychic. I don't really believe in that sort of stuff --- but there's definitely something different. …

What foods make you experience dumping syndrome? And if you can name the type of food, with quanity/amount etc. And did the reaction to dumping change with more time that you've had the sleeve? For example, eating half a small bowl of ice-cream make you dump 8 months out vs not anymore at 2 or 3 years out? Hope this makes sense, I would like to know as foods to avoid or some that are prone to cause someone to dump

Hello, I just want to give you all an update on how surgery went for me! Monday August 19th I was given a 6:30 arrival time, the checked me in and weighed me. Next the took me to a short stay room where they had me change, use the restroom if I needed to, wash my hands up to my elbow and get into the bed. By this time it was probably around 7:20. Just so you know I hate needles and well they poked me twice! Ones to get my morning lab done and another to put the IV in. Next they took my Vidal’s asked me questions, had me sign my last consent form that was to confirm the surgery and put my compression cuffs on my calves to keep blood circulation going and to prevent blood…

I’ve been looking to connect with people that have had, or are going to have, the gastric sleeve surgery. I stumbled across this site today. I’m not sure what I’m doing quite yet on here as far as the format, etc. I have been thinking about doing the gastric sleeve for a while now. Today I took the first steps and talked to my insurance company. Luckily, they do cover all, minus 15% of the total cost. Yet, it comes with the stipulations that I’ve read other people having to do first. That being the 6 months of documented dietary therapy, physical activity, and behavior modification before they’ll approve the surgery. I kind of figured there would be some hoops to jum…

Hi Everyone, I have finally made the leap to go forward with weight loss surgery!!! I am in month 2 out of 4 of the process. I need 4 months of continuous weight management by my physician along with the multitude of tests in order to submit approval to my insurance. Once that is completed they will give me my surgery date. I’m estimating December. I’m really hoping to get early December as I don’t want to miss a semester of school, which starts mid January, if I’m still recovering. I will be getting a VSG. My dr has me on Saxenda right now (it’s a daily injection that suppresses appetite) to give me a weight loss boost before surgery. I’d love to connect with anyone t…

I’m about 7 weeks post-op and after losing 15 lbs in the first 10 days after surgery I’ve lost less than 5 lbs in the almost 6 weeks since. I know that stalls are common but this seems excessively long so early on. I really don’t know what I’m doing wrong and am getting really dejected. I track my food meticulously and have been averaging around 600 or 700 calories a day, never more than 800, and walk about 2 miles most days. I feel like it might be hormonal since I have PCOS which has caused issues in the past. Has anyone else had this happen and how did you break out of it?

Hi Team, Well, I had to go to NE for a funeral; Of course lots of stress. Drama. I ate well, water, protein shakes, eggs, avoided comfort farm foods in Creighton NE. The hardest part was (besides stress) was high heat and humidity. No way to do aerobic exercise, so long walks. Then of course, coming back home, and lots of stress at my work place. So, for me, I am beating stress with: Elliptical machine Home small set of bar bells Lots of water Moving around between patients at work Music, action movies Fun on Social media on Facebook Of course, being a therapist, I started some short term therapy for me. Got a…

I have been gradually backsliding for the past few months. I have gained about 7 pounds since the first week of June. I know I need to get back to measuring and tracking my food and drinking the amount of water that I need to on a daily basis. I know I can't just snap my fingers and magically be back on track but does anyone have any ideas that worked for them? I know part of my issue is once I hit 230, the weight loss stopped. I also feel like I am able to eat more and that scares me. I am worries that I will gain the weight and and be right back where I was. To make things more difficult, I am totally an emotional eater so that makes it harder to stay away from the…

Good Morning lovely folks! I finally hit 100 down since surgery. I am 9 and a half months post op. Down 120 total! Super excited.. For those of you just beginning this journey you can and will make it. I still have about 50 to go to my goal, but i am getting there little by little. I am hoping at the year mark to be less than 30 to goal! I will be ok with that.. because i know i will eventually hit my goal no matter the duration. Keep the faith, be strong, and stay on path.. dont compare yourself to others because this is your journey and yours alone. You will learn things as you go, your body will adjust and keep on moving.. Here is to the next 50!

I get to start on soft foods and after debating I decided to start with cottage cheese as so many had problems with eggs. I'm so enjoying chewing I missed it so much. I made it through the 3 weeks of liquids!

I thought okay maybe I ate something I shouldn’t have (but couldn’t think of anything that would have caused it). Each day this week I’ve been experiencing the same thing but getting progressively worse. I called my team because a lot of what was coming up was stomach acid/bile and the prescribed pantoprazole. I’ve been taking it and while the stomach acid isn’t coming up anymore now I am dry heaving. This is t once or twice a day I mean it has happened at least 10xs so far today. 48. I hope everyone is doing well. I am very happy with my result. I am logging food and exercising about 5-6 days a week, a combination of spinning and weight training. My advice is to stick with the program whether the weight loss is fast or slow. The excess weight happened over time, so will the weight loss. Remember exercise is your friend!! Surgery date 4/29/19 Starting weight -260 Weight day of surgery -244 Current with -195

I'm talking can't sleep at night, racing thoughts, nearing panic-attack states at times. I'm at the point where I'm ready to go back to my primary doc and find an appropriate anti-anxiety medication. Prior to surgery, I was medicated for depression and anxiety, but have not been medicated since surgery and have been doing very well.
