Hi all, Tomorrow I’ll be two weeks post op VSG and here are my results so far Height: 5’6” 7/3/19 HW. 228 Pre Op 2 wk diet 222 10/15/19 SW. 207 10/28/19 197 So I think I am doing pretty well considering I had a 35ish BMI to start and today my BMI comes up as 31.8. Loss since 1st appointment/HW is 31. Loss since 10/1 pre-op is 25. I also had a band for 5 years and had it removed over a year ago. I hear that could have an impact on loss but I don’t see how being that I had no band restriction for years and never maintained any weigh loss. Anyone else with experience like mine? Did you lose consistently or slower than most. I think I am losing at…

Hey Guys!! I'm new to this forum but all of the information I have read so far is helping to mentally prepare myself for this surgery. My Gastric Sleeve Surgery is scheduled for August 29th in Juarez, Mexico. I have my fiance going with me to help along the way but I'm REALLY nervous about the flight heading back home. My surgery is scheduled for Friday morning and we fly back to Louisiana Sunday around lunch time. I'm worried about the discomfort of sitting upright in the seat for such a long flight. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that worked for you? On top of flying so soon after the surgery, there wasn't a non stop flight option. We have a layover----The thought …

I am going crazy. I had my surgery 10/22. I feel no different. I have no trouble drinking, getting my protein in anything. Is there something wrong with me? I have been having my soups clear liquids. Am I doing something wrong? Can I have pudding at this stage? I am so confused and overwhelmed.

  4. Started by Nice1,

My surgery is finally scheduled for this Friday. I went in for my pre-op labs, x-ray, EKG, anesthesiologist consult today. Now things are very real. I'm trying to keep myself busy, buying my post-surgery protein, Jello, etc. but I'm starting to feel the nerves. Has anyone gone through the last minute doubts like "maybe I should try dieting again?" I think a big part of my concern is that I feel isolated and ashamed to tell anyone, so only my husband knows. I tried to tell my sister, but she immediately came up with a million reasons for me not to. I don't really have any non-judgemental friends. So if things don't go right, I'm afraid of the backlash. Is anyone else in …

May I vent for a second?, I’m nearly two months post-op from gastric sleeve surgery. I’m now 40 pounds lighter from when I started this journey at 278 lbs. I look amazing. But in the inside I feel like $#|%. I may be one of few people who Love and Regret my decision at the same time. I finally understand what some of y’all meant when you say you have to be mentally prepared and mentally strong. BOY!!!! I miss being able to eat at my own leisure without worrying if my body will accept it...or wondering if I’ll feel horrible afterward. I thought I knew everything there was to know abt bariatric surgery...but just like a first time parent finds out, boy was I wrong. I r…

So, I'm 6 months post sleeve. I have lost 102lbs overall. I workout regularly and watch my portions and food choices but I really miss certain treats. One of them is milk tea with boba. I'm wondering if any of you have dared to venture into boba and if so, how did the new little pouch do? It's the one craving I'm having a hard time shaking. I think it might be the squishy chewing I miss.

  11. Started by boopatches,

I'm pretty sure it's normal but that doesn't make it any less frustrating. Vegetables hurt my stomach, turkey or chicken hurt, pretty much anything I eat. Any suggestions?

  12. Had my surgery on Wednesday and my doc says the first MO this only:water, tea, sugar free juice, protein drink, broth and popsicles. Were u allowed anything else?

Time is really flying! I am doing well overall. Side effects/complications from surgery were minimal. In the hospital I had 2 dry heave events that felt like I needed to happen to release some pressure/gas or something, and only a couple nausea episodes after discharge. Abdominal pain subsided pretty quickly, except for that main incision site which would have occasional stabbing pain if I moved in a way it didn't like. I haven't had that for about 2 weeks now. Incisions healed very nicely. Energy level is improving, however when I overdo it I am definitely still wiped out. I am much more awake during the day. I can stay up much later than I did before, and still rise ear…

Hey there. I'm 18 days post-op from my gastric sleeve and started with some solid food yesterday. I had one scrambled egg at one meal and some flaky fish at another. I feel like I ate slow enough, it took me 30min to finish both portions. It gave me the runs yesterday and now today again with my one egg for breakfast was the same. Is this a normal thing when switching from the liquid stage?

Hi all. I experience stomache pain, to the left side of my stomache. A dull type of pain, especially when I wake up in the morning. I am 6 weeks post-op. Anyone else experiencing/ experienced that?

Hello all, as you can tell I'm new! I will have my VSG on Nov. 11th. I have been calm, cool, and collected on this journey thus far with my new life/goal in my sights. The day i got my surgery confirmed... The anxiety swept in. Has anyone experienced a sense of mourning the loss of the old you? Im not past the surgery yet and im afraid that i will lose myself who ive come to be, in doing this surgery. I'm ready and i want it, but im also sad. Does that make sense? I just keep thinking what if i dont recognize my reflection several months from now? I don't know if I'm making any sense lol. Hopefully im not alone thinking this. Any feedback would be appreciated!

  18. Hey Everyone, I am 7 months post surgery and my current weight is at 138lbs, my goal is to get to around 121 / 127lbs. So I went out looking for some sort of exercise I’d enjoy so that it would be sustainable. I did a free CrossFit trial and I’m really enjoying it so I’ve signed up and have been doing it for a few weeks now. I really struggle to get to 60 grams of protein some days so extra protein shakes etc won’t be an easy task. Has anyone else found an intense sport post VSG that they really enjoy and have carried on with? How do you manage physically? Have you lost muscle (protein / calorie intake) ? Gained muscle? Felt better? Worse? Some guidance would be reall…

  19. So my surgery was on the 18th and I'm currently in my full liquids phase (puree is on the 1st!) It no longer hurts as food goes down but I'm still trying to adjust to timing with eating and I feel starving at times. Hoping I get adjusted to that eventually.

Did my Wednesday weigh in last week and had a disappointing stall with no loss to report, not even an ounce. Did my Wednesday weigh in this morning (10 weeks post op) and the scale went down 4.5 lbs. However while in my stall week I wracked my brain as to how nor fret over my stall. In true fashion of being a David Letterman fan I decided to go old school and come up with a top ten list of things I've achieved since surgery pertaining to Non scale Victorys and not the number on the scale. Hoping everyone will post a few of their own. Here goes : 1. Actually realizing what full feels like for the first time in 57 years 2. Being able to buckle the airplane seatbelt withou…

Hey all! I’m 15 months post op vsg. Starting weight was 248 (5’4” 29 yr old female) and current weight is 175. I’m still working SO HARD to get to goal (155) but I’m SO STUCK. I religiously track and weigh my food. Literally have tracked it for 552 days in a row. I drink at LEAST 64 oz of water every day. Exercise 3-5 days a week for at least 30 mins. WHY have I been teetering up and down the same 5 pounds for months?! I realize my “honeymoon” phase is over.. but I’m determined to hit goal. What can I do?! 20 pounds seems SO easy but my body is NOT cooperating. I do suffer from Hashimoto’s thyroiditis— but my numbers are all “in range”. I’m not giving up.. but…

Just wondering how long people would suggest in going away on holidays after surgery. ill be about 3 weeks post op if that, during school holidays and was planning on taking my daughter to theme parks during this time but I don't know if I will have the strength to a) carry luggage or b) even walk around the parks or doing other than lounge around the pool, that is even if my wounds heal leading up to the holiday. How long would anyone suggest in doing this sort of holiday ? Any advise is much appreciated :)

I am not sure how I will explain my weight loss to my coworkers. I chose not to share because they are very judgmental. And I am also private to. Anyways I am getting up to take my shower. For the past month I have been really sick and no one seems to know what’s wrong with me. I have been throwing up mucus about 5 times a day, where before I would dry heave a bit or spit up if I didn’t eat enough and drank too much water on an empty stomach. I have begun to regret getting my gastric sleeve. It’s so depressing and sometimes I feel like my doctors aren’t even listening to me. Has anyone else dealt with this? Or is anyone else dealing with this?

I had surgery 5/3 and didn't have any pain from the surgery until this day. My biggest discomfort was the gas ?!!! I tried everything and it moved but very slow. I watched a video and someone recommended this product. It helped me soooo much. I wished I would have found this before surgery because she encourages you to start before surgery taking this product. It can get messy taking this because it is charcoal and after surgery you have to open all capsules but try it. It brings great relief. Has anyone else used this product?? Thoughts?

Vitamins and Minerals .... and now the cleanse Had a blood work up a few weeks back and finally got all the vitamins and minerals up to snuff. So the next thing was to cleanse all the chemicals out of my body - Background: Vodka, Nicotine, and Garbage food for 45 years and all that soaked into the body fat! So after a ton of research and plan from a Nutritionist the plan was ready to go. heck would be easy after prep for surgery and 4 months of eating like a bird. This day last week I had the sleeve. I was totally content with my decision to have the surgery. Now, the second I woke up in the hospital I immediately regretted it. I have been an emotional roller coaster since then. I still could have backed out this day a week ago. I have replayed so many things over in my mind when I could have chosen to back out. My husband was/is fully supportive. But, so many times I wished he wouldn’t have been so I would have changed my mind. I have started taking anti depressants and talking with a therapist and trying a support group but it still isn’t working. I haven’t told anyone that I’ve done this(including family(my own mother). 35. A thread for us to share our daily menus! To help keep things in perspective for everyone, let's try to note our height & weight (or BMI), gender, weight-status & how far out we are post-op (unless this is already stated in your side profile ) Post as little or as much info as you want. If you track macros, feel free to share your protein, fat, & carb details...if all you feel like saying is you had a really yummy taco, that's cool too. EDIT: Anyone can play! VSG, RNY, DS, etc... ♥️

I was married 12 years ago at over 300 lbs but recently the weight has started to affect my mobility. Is there a place on this forum that people post their daily menus? I know there are posts scattered here and there, but just curious if there's a specific place on here that people will post what they eat on the daily? Their breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks? I'm 3+ years out from VSG and haven't lost anything in over 2 years. I initally lost 100lbs but have gained back 30, and now I'm trying to get back on track and have lost 5 of those lbs. I stupidly went back to old habits and don't want it to get worse than it is. Just looking for ideas on what other people eat on a daily basis. Thanks!

  38. I don’t have anywhere/anyone else to vent about this weird behavior to so I’m putting it here so anyone else with weird/unsupportive people in their lives can commiserate. I had surgery in May, after beginning the process in December. Things are going great, I’m losing weight slowly but surely, feeling great, and beginning to love my new appearance. You all know how it goes. Anyway, my mother was unsupportive surgery, didn’t think I should do it, tried to make me second guess myself, told me how she would NEVER do something so drastic, that she and I just needed to get on a diet together and lose our weight the “right way.” I got surgery anyway, and now I’m nearly 60 …

Hello everyone! I’m 7 months post op next week from a gastric sleeve. But this past week I haven’t been feeling really well. I’ve been having weak impulses of indulging. I don’t know what to do to control them, the worst part is that of course I’m not hungry, I do not have hunger, I’m just feeling anxious about eating and wanting to indulge. I’d really like if you had any tips or ways to calm down the anxiety and impulses to eat.
