Hey guys/ladies I'm Em, from Cornwall, UK. i had my gastric sleeve surgery on November 12th. Wish I'd found this site weeks ago! Anyhoo, I'm on stage 2 of food plan so mashed up veg etc, egg, even got some well chewed sushi down yesterday with no Ill effects. The only issue I'm having seems to be garlic makes me nauseous, sucks as I love it! Garlic that is not the sickness lost 2 stone since start of pre-op milk and jelly LRD so quite happy and feeling the benefits already! 1st few days were horrific due to the wind pain causing sickness and could only get Water down me. But cleared up quickly to get some Soup in. one thing that really has helped me is the myFitnessP…

I’ve had cdiff earlier this year. Surgery is tomorrow. I’m worried this will trigger a relapse. Is there anyone out there with cdiff preop or post op?

  3. I'm 72, almost 6 yrs after sleeve, taking Prilosec since surgery. Had acid reflux before but last night woke me up w/acid in throat and mouth. Has anyone else had problems w/this? I see a new PCP monday due to mine going concierge. Any info appreciated.

  4. Started by dramermom,

I'll be having my gastric sleeve surgery on Sunday July 14th in Mexico. The pain medication that they will be giving me is Ketorolac which is an NSAID. I've heard that NSAIDS should be avoided after sleeve surgery. Should I take this medication?

  5. I’m two weeks post op. Any time I do anything )like shower, pick stuff off the ground, excessive walking, etc) I get abdominal cramping and nausea. The cramping is like doing a million crunches with zero muscle mass. I realize that I’m healing and stuff like that takes time but I can barely make it through my shower without getting shaky and nauseous. Haven’t shaved my legs in over two weeks. I feel gross. What are some things we can do to help lessen that discomfort and how long did it last for you?

I just heard back from the Surgery Center and i am scheduled for Monday @ 0800 am! I can't wait to be able to chew real food! (Yes i know it won't be for awhile but damn do i miss that.)

  7. Hey everyone, herw is before and after photos[emoji322] also I've been stuck at a stall for about two weeks between 205-207, any tips or suggestions?!?!

  8. To feel full/satisfied. I’ve been packing my lunch and one item I pack us a Greek yogurt I’ve been eating for breakfast (soft phase). I’m 8 weeks past surgery and my doc said I should eat 2-3 oz , 4 times a day. But that leaves me hungry. Today after eating my yogurt I realized it’s 5.4 oz. that seems to be the amount of food that gets me satisfied. I don’t want to start this lifestyle on the wrong foot. How many ounces you guys eating at 8 weeks? THANK U

  9. so i had my surgery on 10/3/19 and so far i’ve lost about 70lbs.. does that seem like the right number for 2 months out? i feel like maybe it’s not enough and i’m feeling a little insecure about it. i follow the diet to a T. a

Almost 6 months post sleeve surgery, down 50 pounds, but that is it, i have been this weight for a while and nothing is happening, I can't seem to lose any more weight. Any suggestions?

I have my 1 month follow up today - but it's closer to 6 weeks due to holidays and my doc being busy at the end of the year. I get to meet with the surgeon and my nutritionist. Still dealing with insurance and the billing department at the hospital. It's gonna be a chore I think and I know I'm gonna wind up paying a bunch. So far I'm down 48 since surgery on 10/22. 279 this morning. Hope to be 277 by the end of the week so I can call if 50 total. Somehow I lost 6 pounds between 11/27 and 12/1 and I have no idea what I did to make that work! But for now I'm back to the lose a pound - wait two days at the exact same weight - then lose another pound. It's MUCH slower th…

I am one week out from my sleeve and I'm going strong. I've lost 19 pounds post-OP so far and 60 pounds total. It's a great feeling. But it's been kind of tempered by two things: 1. I can't sleep to save my life - I'm up to 4 or 5 hours now, but it's broken in half with an hour or more awake in between. My doctor told me to add melatonin to my routine but it seems to just leave me drowsy, not put me to sleep. I'm walking a lot - I hit 9k steps yesterday. I've even been working on crafts when I'm resting, to keep active. I dont know what to do. 2. I feel like I've lost all my weight in strange places. For example, my breasts are definitely smaller, but I think my…

I'm PRE-OP (Dec 9th surgery date) and I am checking with my nutritionist as well but I like to chat with my peeps in here. Do any of you use coconut milk post-op to mix with your protein drinks, etc. (Light of course) . I know clears are before. Just reading over my booklet again today. (LORD I AM OBSESSED WITH READING IT) I don't see it.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and would love any tips or advice. I had the gastric sleeve done in August of 2017. At first I did great, but after 18 months i stopped losing my BMI never even got to overweight status. Now I'm struggling with regain, and I'm finding myself back on yo yo dieting. I lost 110 lbs and I regained 20 lbs already. It's really upsetting, I don't want to go back to a BMI of 52. If anyone ever dealt with this please tell me what worked for you.

Why do I still see a larger woman? Today i woke up at 141.4.... Loose size 6 slacks and i still feel not thin enough. What is wrong with my brain???? Most people would love to be a size 6..... I still see size 10-12.... I know, i should be grateful that i'm not the size 20+ i use to be.....

Hi All. My gastric sleeve surgery is scheduled for this Monday, the 2nd and my anxiety is through the roof right now. I’m fearful of getting cold feet. I’ve been working towards this for almost a year and now that it’s here I’m in a panic. My biggest fear is the nausea afterwards as I hate vomiting and I have this fear that I will be nauseous for the rest of my life. How long does it usually last? I just hope I’m making the right decision.

I had gastric sleeve surgery about 4 years ago. I was wondering if anyone had back pain with the sleeve. Would this pain be due to the gastric sleeve pouch or disc herniations? They did an MRI and found some bulging discs. The back pain is very bad. Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Hi all, I’m 43 days out from my sleeve. I’ve lost 32lbs. I’m glad my weight is moving in the right direction, but I’m a little surprised at the slow pace. I lost 20 lbs in the first 10 days then stalled for over a week. Lost about 8 pounds over the next 2 weeks. Now it’s taken a lot of effort to get the last few pounds to come off. My surgeon told me everything was fine and my body needed time to catch up with the weight loss. I’m ok with that. I just assumed that starting at 390 lbs (5’8) a little bit more weight would have come off by now. My sleep has been a little off since coming back to work, but I walk as much as I can at work and try to walk for 30 mins a…

Well it's a small milestone but I've officially lost 100 lbs since surgery on July 1. I was 441 then and now I'm 341 as of Dec 1. Overall for the year that puts me at 132lbs lost! I've been eating right, no cheating, working with weights for my arms and just started swimming 2 wks ago. I go swimming 4 days a week for 30 mins. I still have a long way to go but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel [emoji3]

  23. Good Morning All! So I have BCBS North Carolina and from my understanding it says 6 month waiting period for surgery. Curious if everyone else was the same or not. TIA

  24. So, my doctor is a great surgeon, but not great on the nutrition part and I'm a little lost. I'm 4 weeks PO and trying to get ready for the months ahead. Looking for a nutritionist with experience in bariatric surgery that I can consult with if anyone has any recommendations.

Stumbled across this app at just the right time. Have my Sleeve surgery in 9 hours. This is my first post. I'm 34/M/NJ SW 347 DOS 318 CW GW 215 I had Lap-band installed in 2013, it slipped had it removed in 2016, was supposed to do revision a few months later, but chickened out. Then after yo-yoing the last 3 years, and increasingly worsening back pain, finally decided to go through with it. Was kinda here reading through here psyching myself out a bit. But know the benefits outweigh the fear. Anyone else out there a 12/2 sleever? Or December at all? Best of luck to all of ya! -Steve

Hi there! A little history - I am 30 months post op/sleeve. I have had great success, but recently put back on 20 pounds. That isn't such a big deal to me as I still surpassed my surgeon's goal, but I am working to get it off. My question is, has anyone at this stage experience painful gas and bloating? It's every time I eat, and sometimes just out of the blue. I am also on protonix, which helped initially about 6 mos-1 year after surgery. I've actually experience these problems for sometime, I just thought it was normal - but now its gotten so much worse. It doesn't seem anything will help...tums or rolaids might help a little, but not for long. I ha…

Want to start off by thanking everyone for their opinions and posts. I’m not an active user, so I truly appreciate everyone else that is. I had gastric sleeve surgery in October 2018. My starting weight was 556lb pre-surgery diet, I am now at 335lb. So, I’ve obviously had tremendous results. Recently though, the past 3 months I’ve had random occurrences of heart palpitations, fatigue at times, near fainting, etc. My heart rate is also very low on a normal basis, sub 50 is regular at rest..and then can dip to high 30s while sleeping. Has anyone had issues like this post surgery that we might need to consider? I’ve checked my iron levels, thyroid, etc to no a…

Hello-I am scheduled for surgery December 8 and I'm wondering what you all would recommend having on hand for when I get home. I don't want to overbuy shakes or protein powder as I know tastes change, but I don't necessarily want my husband to have to run to the store right away. So, what do you recommend?

Hi! Im new here, had my sleeve done Nov. 22... I'm a week out tomorrow... When I got my sleeve I stayed in the hospital overnight and was in excruciating pain. My o2 levels stayed around the mid 80s to low 90s even on 4L of oxygen (which has NEVER BEEN a problem for me) and I was sent home without a leak test. I feel no restriction when drinking at all and not much of a restriction when eating my soft foods... is this normal? What if everything im eating is mushing out of my stomach and into my abdomen and that's why there's no restriction???? [emoji15]

  44. Hi All, Happy Thanksgiving. This is my first since VSG on 11/11. Curious what everyone ate today? Since I’m still on liquids, my Thanksgiving meal was a custom creamy tomato soup I made using Rao’s tomato sauce, Ricotta Cheese, Half &Half and Parmigiana cheese. Combined all through my Nutribullet and then cooked in a saucepan. Satisfying and filling. Topped of the rest of the day with some protein shakes and I was all good. The most surprising part of this journey is that I neither felt deprived, nor craved the “traditional” Thanksgiving meal I had become accustomed to since I was a kid (49 now). Very thankful for this site and all of you who helped me t…

  45. Today I finally get to eat real food. It's been over a month between pre and post surgery and, honestly, I was thinking about doing something dreadful if I had to have another shot of protien shake ever again. I will miss the ease in which I could eat on a protien shake only diet, but that is the ONLY thing I will miss. Under my doctor, soft food is also extremely limited, but it's enough to make me happy. In about a month I start getting all the meats back, at that point, I can't imagine needing anything else. Never thought I'd say it, but right now I'd take a chicken breast over some crisp French bread any day!

So, this is a weird one. Sometimes last year, after I turned 51, I moved into menopause (I thought), but post sleeve, in July, my monthly friend has returned on a regular basis, for the past three months. I was always regular and apparently still am. Anyone experienced anything similar? I don’t thing the initial cessation was weight related as I hadn’t had any real increase in some time. Just... strange.

  48. Hell errrrbody! When I was banded in 2009 I was on this platform daily and making some pretty awesome friends, pretty fast. LOL It seems this time around I'm a lonely painter living in a box of paints. (bonus points for who knows where I got that from?) I am active, been chatting and looking and responding but it seems pretty quiet for me. Maybe it's just me but I sure do like talking to folk about their experiences, fears, achievements, disappointments, etc. I am being sleeved Dec. 9th, 2019 by Dr. Matthew Metz in Denver Colorado

I'm 14 days post op. All told I've lost 12 lbs since surgery not bad. Most of that was the first few days however. For more than a week now I've been losing, consistently, every single day, just .2 lbs. Super consistent. I'm eating about 1000 calories a day and hitting my protein goals at about 60g a day. Drinking more than 64 fl oz of water daily. I'm freaked out because everything I read to prepare for surgery indicated there would be dramatic weight loss the first and second months and then it would slow down. But this is pretty dang slow and it's my second week. I don't know what this means but it scares me. I was a lower BMI patient to begin with (34), sel…

  50. Hello! I am 6 months post op. I actually had my 6 month PO appointment today and the PA was really pleased with my progress. I however have this terrible fear that I am done losing and I communicated this with my doc. She said, that there's no way that I am done losing, I lost 16lbs since my last appointment. My scale hasn't moved this week. I've started battling constipation again, which always causes my weight to stall. Anyways. When did you notice a big slow down? And did you still slowly lose after 6 months? I still hope to lose another 30lbs.
