Though I have thorough paperwork - and I know to only have clear liquids today...does clear truly mean clear as in NO choc protein shake at all today. I have been alternating betw Gatorade Zero and water so far today. What did you all do? I'm so nervous..mostly for the aftermath of anesthesia because I always get very sick from it ...I have a family, young kids, etc and just hoping after 4 or 5 days post-op I can sort of operate as normal and even attend my children's sports, etc...albeit, sipping liquids for 3 weeks. Any advice or experiences you had are greatly appreciated.

Today I have realized that this surgery really does play with your hormones and your mind. No matter how much you prepare for it Like I was definitely not prepared for this no matter the Months of consulting and going to the nutritionist. Depression with the sleeve is really ****. Anyone else feeling like this?

Hi All, I am 25, and will be getting my sleeve in a month. What I am most worried about is my mental state afterward, and finding things to do when I can't eat. What are some new things that you have tried since your surgery?

My stomach, although quieter now than when immediately post op, has had a hell of day back talking me! I had veggie loaded miso soup for my dinner and even before i finished it was creaking and talking away! Especially when i lie down in bed at night! Does anyone else have a chatty stomach? Anything in particular that sets it off?

Hi, past-VSGers. Did anyone get a leak? What was that experience like? I'm 6 years post a very successful, no complications, VSG (the best thing I did for myself!!: happy, happy, happy; looking good; down to a size 10; not afraid of pictures; sexy, confident, etc.). BUT I've gained some weight [25-27 pounds] in the past 2+ years, and am having a hard time losing it. Bad back, bad foot, so intense exercise is out. I want another VSG, but the risk of a leak is real (due to decreased vascularization of where the stomach would again be cut); and no, I don't think my surgeon-friend will do it anyway. But I'm just curious... How bad is the 'leak experience'...? D…

Hi All, I am in Sydney and am looking for a support buddy, someone who needs a shoulder to lean on and can be my be my shoulder to lean ov through 2020. I need to lose 30kg and I have lost 65kg already. But now feel I need someone who is willing to sit down and talk to me and understand the journey I have been on. Cause lets be honest a normal person really does not understand. I don't want to whinge and moan but just someone who is experiencing the same things as me and wants a friend/partner to talk to. Message me if you are looking for similar. Cheers and wishing you all a fantastic 2020!

I feel like I was blindsided by an anxiety crisis. It’s been 8 months since surgery and I feel my self control is slipping away. December was a tough month food wise. And I’ve been laid back on the fact that my physical restriction is still real and I am not able to eat big amounts of food. But since I am now able to tolerate a wider range of things I have lowered the quality of my intakes and indulging on cravings. I know this is an addiction and I have to treat it as one. I’ve been having dreams were I look at myself in the mirror and I see myself fat again. I’m still not on my healthy weight, about 15 pounds from healthy and 26 pounds from my target…

I’m 11 months post op, on Sunday I had a small bowl of lentils and rice (I know I know but I’m leaving the country and my mums cooking is amazing so I wanted to try) anyway since then I’ve had the most uncomfortable bloat and burping, it went away for abit yesterday but then came back at night then was gone this morning but came back once I had my breakfast and coffee. Clearly that rice and lentils created some kind of gas explosion along with huge stress due to planning my move to a different country in a week..but just wondering if anyone has any tips on healing this? So burpy.. bit paranoid it could be a leak but I’ve been informed you’d generally really know if it was…

  27. Hello everyone, my spouse is getting ready to have gastric sleeve in a few weeks. Were going through the cold feet stage. my spouse needs 10mg buspar & 15mg lexapro daily for anxiety & depression and needs this medicine to live healthy. Will the gastric sleeve change the absorption of these medicines rendering them ineffective? Having these medicines not work anymore would be a surgery deal breaker. Any one have any experience with this?

Hi everyone! I recently had sleeve surgery on October 22, 2019. Prior to surgery I was on a 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I couldn’t wait for my surgery because I was under the impression that I would be having to force down liquids after and have no desire towards food/eating. I was WRONG. I am not technically hungry, but I am finding that I am having obsessive thoughts over food/the comfort of food that consumes me most of the day. When I see someone eating a nice salad, I kind of wish I could have some etc. TV commercials and smelling food is torture. Does anyone else experience this craving or food obsession post op? I am shocked as I thought I would ha…

So, I've experienced quite a few NSVs as of recent. I can cross my legs (not super comfortably yet, but hey); I'm in a size 14/16, down from a 26; and I see my collarbones. Yay! 2 1/2 months out - 50 lbs lost post surgery and an additional 54 lbs was lost before (on my own, July 2019). I'm walking fast and exercising amazingly. This, all from the woman who got winded walking down the block to her car. Life is good!

So I just had to put this somewhere because I have to say the first 80-85 came off quick. These last 15 not so much. I have been in a stall since Thanksgiving going down and up a few at a time while allowing myself to live a little and have some holiday treats. Got most everything out of the house, got my butt to the gym, started tracking carefully again and today finally weighed in at 100 down. Will be 8 months post 2/4 and I would say most of the work is on me at this point. I can absolutely overeat right now if I eat the wrong things. Just making that statement for anyone who is out there wondering what restriction may look like at this point. It’s there but I cert…

Hi everyone I was just approved for VSG. I’m waiting on a call back from my surgeon with the official surgery date. I am looking to have it done the second weeks of December. I am so nervous and scared and excited!!! I also keep second guessing myself and thinking if I’ll chicken out and just not do it. I really really really want this done because at this point there is nothing I have not tried to loose the weight. I am scared of failing I guess. I’ve lost almost 20lbs since I began my appts to get this done. I am on a daily injection to suppress my appetite which was a big contributor. I've been watching a LOT of YouTube videos from people who have had the VSG surgery as well as bariatric surgeons. It's cool to watch and see people's transformation over a period of months. Right now I'm especially interested in the videos from people who post their experiences during their surgery and first week post op, since I'll be having VSG on Jan. 11th. Just curious, what are some of your favorite YouTube VSG channels? I've learned a lot from a couple of the bariatric surgeons channels - one is Dr. Mathew Weiner and the other is Blossom Bariatrics from Las Vegas; their dietician has some really good videos.

I already have a week in liquid diet is very hard and think is one more week to go, is even hard to imagine but I am tired of premier protein shakes, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles, crystal light flavor water no caffeine and chicken broth. But I love flan I just wonder if I can make the protein shake into jello just adding some gelatin? I wonder if is possible and if should be okay to do it? And if is possible?

Ok.... so I had Gastric Sleeve Surgery in March of 2015,, so almost 5 years ago. So have any of you “old timers”. The women on here,, had a problem of having a TOTAL LOSS of sex drive??? I never lost the desire to eat! I have always been hungry from day 1! So with that being said I think the doctor removed my sex hormones instead of my hunger hormones!! Does that make sense? Thank you!!

Hi! I am a type two diabetic and also have Intracranial hypertension, I’m 5”3 and 200 pounds currently( 255 at my highest) , I’m just at a BMI of 34.5 .. I qualify under these guidelines for sleeve surgery , and I’ve decided it’s what’s best for me. HERE IS THE PROBLEM, as soon as I told my spouse and mother they got upset.. they told me I’m “not big enough” or that I could just “lose it on my own, if I just work out .. do keto” .. it’s hard to hear and making me worry I’m making a wrong choice. Because I’ve lost 60 pounds on my own way back in 2014 they seem to think I can do it again.. it’s 2020.. I’ve been stuck at this weight 6 years! I’m sick of taking so much medica…

Okay, so we all know about it but I have a specific question... When in the stall, does the weight fluctuate? Like a two pound flux? Just want to make sure I am in the stall or is this something else? I don’t want to make myself crazy changing things if it is just typical. Thoughts? Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone used the fasttrack at Blossom Bariatrics. I am scheduled for the sleeve the week of 3/8. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I have quit smoking, but what happens if I have a puff or two before the surgery. Do they test for nicotine? Will I be denied surgery? I am flying across the country to have this done and don't want to have to reschedule as I am paying out of pocket.

Hi, I had my sleeve on Jan 15. It’s day 8 and I am still in pain. I really thought I would be up exercising and moving around without any problems at all. Pain wise, I have a sharp stabbing pain on my right side, and a dull throbbing pain in my left lower stomach. I have been taking liquid Tylenol ( took liquid norco for 3 days post op) Is this pain normal. I did go see my doctor and he said the pain on the right is from where the stomach was removed. Does anyone else still have pain 8 days out? Thank you for all inputs.

So I have read many threads and personally spoken to a few people who have experienced dehydration after surgery. I am concerned as I am already not a huge Water drinker and I know the importance of it after surgery. I have ordered something to add to my water... picture below. Anyone else use this or a similar product? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I should also ad it has zero calories and zero sugar! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm planning on having a sleeve done late March. (I'm having to pay cash, and will be paying and making in stone appointment Feb 10th). (And HI! New here and have been semi stalking forums for a short while ?) I've got several people in my life who have had both By-pass/Sleeve, and they have given all sort of little tid-bits and niches thats helped them along the way. My father loved tiny spoons and tiny bowls. Even after 10 years of having the by-pass, when he was at home he continued to eat with tiny items. A friend keeps a metal 1/2 measuring cup on his car keys (so he always has it to compare). While another friend keeps a special metal ring…

Hello I had my surgery on January 6, 2020 and I just got a question in the beginning I wasn’t able to get any of the Protein Shakes or mixes of any kind down I would throw it all up , so I was fast forward to more softer foods By my nutritionist As long as my stomach could handle it so I can get Protein out of what I eat as of right now I am 20 days out and I haven’t lost any weight I gained is there any reason for that ? Surgery wait 230 , four days later 237 , on 14 January I went down to 221 , A week later I went to see my nutritionist for the first time since surgery and I went back up to 229 now I also had a hernia repair at the same time as my surgery …

So I’ve just been for a check-up with my surgeon’s offsider. My continued issues with low blood pressure and now poor liver function, high inflammation levels & general weakness are raising red flags. Add to this I’m still losing weight (54.1kgs this morning) even though I’m trying to eat more & more regularly. Plus I’m still losing lots of hair (even my eyebrows are thinning now so I’m having my brows microbladed on Monday). She’s made me an urgent appointment with the surgeon for next week suggesting that he may need to stretch my stomach so I can eat more & get in more nutrients. Yikes ?. I am eating a little more at each sitting and tend to graze all…

So I had the sleeve in Mexico 15 months ago. Needless to say no follow up and no maintenance. Kinda rogue in a way. Lost about 40 pounds. Not much admittedly. No one to guide me when I returned to rural Tennesee. Then About 4 months ago I moved to Tampa. Then strangely enough it started. Waking up in the wee hours of the morning with bile in my mouth. No matter how hard I tried it always ended up in agonizing retching for a period of time. Stomach being empty only bile comes up. And obviously severe gerd for the rest of the day. Walking around with a bile taste in my mouth. No abdominal pain to support a gallbladder problem. Never been to an American surgeon knowing they …

  49. For those of you who are about to have WLS surgery - Just wanted to give you a little encouragement. In June of last year i was in a size 48 to 50 Shorts and a 3 xl shirt - So i ordered new work shirts for my company and Today I am in a xl shirt and size 38 waist shorts Not only is this a great feeling but i also can bend over, I can do cross fit, I can F@#ckin move again! So if you have any doubts about the surgery Put on your big girl panties and get it done, Because the reward is well worth the bumps and bruises! Like NIKE says JUST DO IT!

I have not lost anything in almost 2 months. I am 4 1/2 months post-op. I have stuck to my plan. Very low carbs and sugar. I was allowed all solids at three months but haven’t gone crazy adding things. My protein is always 60+ grams a day. I have a protein shake if I know my day is going to be hectic. I have a peanut butter weakness, but it’s really just about a tablespoon or so a day (The bad kind-Skippy). I am always over my 64 ounces of water. I try to get in exercise through walking and or running at least 3-4 times a week. Help me jump start this thing!
