I am a little over 3 weeks out of surgery. The pain on my right side behind the large incision was pretty rough. The third week it started to get a little better. My wife had to have emergency surgery a couple days ago and I've had to pick up the slack with our son. Not sure if I did too much bending but the pain is much worse now than in the beginning. Is it just muscle pain?

I’m constantly burping. I’m 8 days post op and burp all the time. I’m still liquid only and I just take a tiny sip every minute adding up to 5oz per hour. I’m very careful not to swallow air but still so many burps! I woke up first thing this morning with so much air in my belly! I had to sit up and get it out! I don’t want to be a belching Betty the rest of my life!

Hi! I am just beginning my weight loss journey, but have been doing research and have decided that I would like to do the gastric sleeve surgery. However, I have a friend who told me I may not be a candidate for it because I have GERD and severe esophagitis. I believe my GERD is caused by the medium sized hiatal hernia I have and was hoping the surgeon may fix that during my WLS procedure. Is that something the surgeon may do? Anyone have a surgeon approve the gastric sleeve surgery, even though you have GERD? I am hoping to avoid gastric by-pass because of the absorption issues that can occur. Thanks!

Waking a sleeping Giant..... The reports are that the truckers are getting supplies to the stores. People are stocking the shelves all night and letting old people shop first. Carnival Cruise line told Trump “We can match those big Navy Hospital ships with some fully staffed cruise ships” GM said hold our cars and watch this; we can make those ventilators where we were making cars starting next week. Women and children are making homemade masks and handing out snacks to truckers. Restaurants and schools said, We’ve got kitchens and staff; we can feed kids.” Churches are holding on-line services and taking care of their members and community. NBA basketball…

I had my original sleeve done June/2013. I lost 90 pounds and I gave birth to my baby girl Oct/2015 I have since gained 50 pounds back total. I went back to my initial surgeon's office and was seen by his PA. I spoke to him about how I wasn't feeling very much restriction and that after doing the 5 day pouch test it was not any better. His solution was phentermine. I followed it and I lost maybe 5-7 pounds but regained as soon as I stopped taking them. I have since spoken with a new bariatric group and the physician is wonderful, he has had me do an upper GI which has allowed him to see that I no longer have a "sleeve". This would explain the feeling of no restriction. He…

Hi there! I had gastric sleeve surgery on Dec. 4, 2019. I’m doing really well with my weight loss of 50 lbs already. My concern is that my hair has been falling out a lot. I’m eating enough protein as prescribed by the dietician but I’m losing big amount of hair. Has anyone had this problem? In need of advice.

For all of you who have seen me post I am bat poop crazy about vitamins and supplements. However i struggled big time with this and had to self teach myself. What i kept finding out with every blood test is this, No matter what you take every week will be different, Mainly because your body uses them differently. The big thing is the whole foods you eat along with the vitamins! However this may apply more to males - I hate veggies and fruit, Love the protein, love the shakes, I must get 10 PMs a week form here asking for help. So doing this post. If you look at all my past posts you will see many posts on this. Today I got a PM from here with a poor guy that is so da…

So i have done my best to make healthy food and my teanagers and there friends begged for me to Vortex out some of my Wings! Since everyone is pissed off cuz of college cancelling and all the other drama - I said Fine! Most of you know this but i am a chef. So had this toy called the vortex that you use in a Komata. Never used the thing but oh hell i have nothing to do let me play with this. Since being sleeved i can not handle chicken, but loved wings in the past! Turned out perfectly but really makes me sad i can not eat them, In the old days could have eaten ten of these dang things! So for all you wing lovers be in misery with me but we are all alot healthier!

I am 57 yrs old and 5 weeks post op and have just started soft foods. I am finding that lately, I am very fatigued. I sleep well at night, eat my proteins, drink my water, take my vitamins, and so forth, but I still get extremely tired even though I am not doing much more than walking. Has anybody else had this experience? Any ideas about how to relieve the fatigue and boost my energy? Thanks!

Background: I’m a 20 year old female with PCOS. Highest weight I’ve ever been at, even with rigorous diet and exercise. My BMI is 40.7 or 42 depending on who measures my height. I have not been diagnosed with hypertension or diabetes so I don’t qualify for surgery, yet. I go for diabetes testing next week and I’m certain I will be diagnosed with it based on family history of diabetes and PCOS. With that diagnosis I would qualify for surgery through my insurance. My doctor gave me two choices: medication weight loss or the gastric sleeve surgery. I don’t know which one to pick and I’m terrified of having to make a choice. I’m scared of medication because I know I cant stay…

I will be heading to the hospital in about five minutes, and I thought I would start a thread where I would post my experience and updates with an ESG revision/conversion to gastric sleeve. I had an endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) nearly 18 months ago- more about that another time. An endoscopy last month verified that all but one suture had come undone. Time for a conversion. As expected I am a bit nervous this morning but am grateful that surgery hasn't been cancelled in these trying times. I don't have bariatricpal set up on my tablet or mobile so will be updating in a few days as I won't be carting my old big laptop to the hospital.

I was sleeved 2/21. I had my first post-op appointment with my surgeon on 2/27, where he told me the following day I could start on purees for 2 weeks and then I could move on to soft foods for 1 week and then be on regular solids following that. I feel like my confusion has stemmed from my nutritionists confusion on where I was in the phases. She kept counting one week less than I would. I'm 4 week post-op tomorrow but will be starting on week 5 solids as far as phases goes. Is this confusing to anyone else or just me? lol

Anyone had the sleeve surgery done robotically? My surgeon called today and ask if I would be ok with him doing it robotically. He said it is more precise and gives him a much better view and recovery most likely will be easier! I said ok, but just wondering if anyone else has had it that way?

Hi, I am new to this forum. On 10th March 2020 I had gastric sleeve and am on the last day of my liquid/broth diet. Tomorrow I start my protein and liquid diet for one week. My pre op weight was 213lbs (96.8kg) and for the two week pre-op weight loss, I managed to lose around 12.5lbs (27.56kgs), which brought my weight down to 200.5lbs (90.9kgx) on the day of my Op. 7 days following, my weight is 194lbs (88kgs). Not sure if that is good. Today for some reason, I am feeling hungry, not sure why, but it only lasts for about a couple of minutes. Is this normal??

Hi, I live in the Tampa Bay Area and I’m looking into getting the gastric sleeve, but there are SO MANY options of doctors out there. Also, I will be self pay. While the price isn’t and shouldn’t be the main factor, it is one since my insurance has a specific exclusion. I’ve looked up reviews online but it’s hard to tell what’s real and fake, and some aren’t even about weight loss surgery, and none mention self pay. I was hoping I could come to real people with real experiences. I also don’t want to waste a bunch of doctors times. I’ve heard really good things about Bay Surgical Specialists, and am set to go to a upcoming seminar with Dr. Kevin Huguet. Any and all …

My nutritionist told me I should stay clear of caffeine after my surgery because while I’m healing it will cause extreme stomach pain. How long after surgery did you wait to have caffeine again? I don’t have tons but like one cup of coffee. Even decaf would be fine but even decaf has some caffeine.

I’m 12 days post-op sleeve surgery today and feel terrible. I have not been out and about to get covid-19. I’ve been meeting my water and protein levels daily. I’ve incorporated some soft foods into my diet. I’ve tried Refried beans, eggs, creamy butternut squash soup with protein powder and prunes—all of these chewed very well. I’ve been walking a lot. I got my 10k steps in on Friday. Yesterday I started feeling tired around 4-5 pm and laid down so I only got around 7500 steps in. This morning I’m lightheaded and sipping my water again. I’ve been taking my vitamins like clockwork. I’m also down bc I haven’t lost any weight in two days and I’ve been more active …

Today I'm at my half-way point in my post-gastric sleeve weight loss journey! Having the surgery was the absolute best thing I've ever done for myself and my health. We can do this. Unfortunately I didn't take any before pics - was too disheartened by my then appearance but believe me I look a heck of a lot better now. And yep, I've had a couple short stalls along the way including the classic one at three-weeks that lasted a week, so for those hitting those to-be-expected occasional stalls - no worries, just keep plugging away. Good luck everyone!

Hi y’all, I asked this question way far down in my other thread so I wanted to highlight it. I told my friend who had had sleeve surgery and had successfully lost about how much I’ve been pushing myself to walk. I’m day 12 today and feel really weak today and been pushing for 10k steps a day. I walked 4 miles on Friday and 3.3 miles yesterday and 2.8 miles on Thursday. I didn’t hit 10k steps on Thursday (6500) or Saturday (7200) but I did on Friday. Prior to surgery I averaged about 3000 steps a day. She sent me Dr. Vhong videos (Dr. V as she call him) telling me to watch and he is saying I should be walking for sure, but not pushing myself this much. What are your…

Hello guys, I am 4.5 months post op and I still have a problem with eating too fast at times, I just wanted to suggest if you are pre-op try practicing eating slowly now so that you can get used to eat and newbies please continue to eat slow, I said all of this because eating too fast can literally mess up your whole day, I'm speaking from experience. I ran to the store on my lunch break so I didn't have much time left to eat and I was all tuned up for my smoked salmon, 7 multigrain crackers and 5 grapes...I ate a few bites so fast, all of a sudden a feeling came over me, the food was just sitting at the top of my stomach I started feeling bad, lost my whole app…

Hello I am 23yrs old. I am a patient in the bariatric program and have been going through this process for little over a year now. My highest weight was 497, I was scared that I would hit 500. Having that fear I decided to start committing more and put the effort in. It's been a couple months of progress, but I am down to 440. I met the requirements and was finally approved for my surgery. I know I've been wanting this surgery for a long time so I can have a more comfortable life. Knowing that its actually coming up I have had some concerns/fears. First I have never had surgery, so I am scared to go under. I know it's a fast surgery and recovery doesnt seem that long, but…

Hello everyone! I'm pretty excited. Literally took my insurance one day to approve my surgery. I am so nervous and excited at the same time. My surgery is scheduled for 3/13/2020 and I plan taking the week off after. I start the 10 day pre-op diet on 3/2. I worry though as I'm trying to find protein shakes I can drink. I'm use to premier protein as my mom had the surgery and they actually taste pretty good but I'm afraid my stomach is having some issues with them. The nutritionist I spoke to said to try a plant based protein shake, called Evolve. I did and.... wish I didn't. Lol. Also, anyone recommend any good vitamins? I see the sale on the website f…
