Hello all. I am 5 weeks post-op and now have a new issue. I picked up something fairly heavy and now, when I move, I'm having sharp pains in my stomach. They feel internal, not related to the incisions themselves. If im sitting still, it's just a slight discomfort. Had anyone experienced something like this? I don't want to bother thre doctor if it's normal.

Hello, I’m getting sleeve surgery in 17 days and have only told my husband and parents. I love in a very small town where neighbors and friends will get nosey when they see my fast weight drop but I’m not planning on telling anyone as it’s my own decision. My parents and husband think everyone will assume it anyway because of the large weight drop in short amount of time but I’m really hoping that doesn’t happen. Has anyone gotten away without telling? I’ve mentioned to a few friends I’m working at losing weight...so at least they know I’m trying but not saying anything else. Would love to hear anyone else’s experience ...and if this can really be done w out the nosey nos…

Three huge influences in Bariatric Surgery have come together and made an amazing program!! I am already signed up! I will attach the link and you can read all about it. It covers three huge factors from three totally different prospective. 1. Our mindset ( our mind hunger) 2. Our eating lifestyle and cooking 3. Our fitness (safe and effective) I will be starting personal training with Geoff here in Denver at my 6 weeks mark. He is referred by my surgeon which is a surgeon of excellence and also a teacher of Batiatric surgery to many countries. Because I know we all need it and what the best results the best long term outcome. https://mailchi.mp/0ebbbedb6a11/ma…

Sleeved 2/15. Two weeks after my sleeve (surgery went fine) I developed on my left back that radiated around to the side. I thought I had strained a muscle because I'd spent 5 hours sitting on a bleacher for our State caucus. The pain steadily grew worse, but did not improve. I developed an occasional cough. I'd had a cold during my surgery and thought the cough was from allergies or maybe my cold finally trying to clear itself out. The pain became so bad that I couldn't lie on my back. The cough grew worse. Finally, I phoned my surgeon's office and was told by one of the Physician's Assistants that it didn't sound like anything to worry about but to see my primary just…

Has anyone gone through a post-21 day leak (that’s what my surgeon calls it). I am her first ever case and it has been a roller coaster. I was sleeved Oct 8, 2019. When I was 7 weeks post-op (November 24) I ended up in the ER for insane chills, vomiting, fever, and pain all over. Long story short I was life flighted to another hospital where I had a three week stay and they repaired the leak. It has been 6 weeks since the surgery and I barely started on liquids two weeks ago. I am getting so frustrated because I feel ready to eat soft/solids but my surgeon keeps putting it off. I am also on TPN, which means I’m stuck to an IV for 16 hours a day. I am just so over it and w…

How long was it before you could get in your minimum amount of fluids? I was told 64oz minimum, but I'm not even quite two weeks post op and I am still struggling with this. I've been barely getting 20-30oz some days, and have been feeling more and more like I'm getting dehydrated. I did what my surgeon told me to and went to the ER to get fluids through IV, but the doctor there refused to give me any. I'm annoyed and feel dry and haven't been doing really well, so now I'm trying to sip on some powerade zero and hope for the best... Anyone else have this problem?

Both of my sisters have had VGS surgery and both (1 year and 3 years out) have had amazing, life transforming results. My youngest sister however, had horrible pain coming out of surgery due to the gas used to fill the abdominal cavity. I know getting up and moving around is helpful, but does anyone know if surgeons release any of that gas once the surgery is complete? Just curious - and so excited for surgery!

I am 3 days post op had the gastric sleeve and a hiatal hernia repair. They prescribed me liquid morphine for pain, but I cant find a pharmacy in the area that is able fill it (not sure I want something quite that strong anyway tbh). Any tips for dealing with pain? I'm using the liquid tylenol and it helps for a while, just not quite long enough. I am also walking as much as I can stand to. I mostly just feel like I am moving like a 90 year old.

Hi everyone, Hope that the holidays are joyous. I need some help getting back on track. I had gastric sleeve in 2015 and lost over 100 pounds. I started excercising, was doing really well until this year. I ended up having some serious joint pain issues and started on prednisone. That med worked wonders for reducing the inflammation in my joints BUT it made me feel as hungry as a pregnant cow....and I craved sweets. I ate. This coupled with getting married and now going through a divorce...has has me stress eating. My lowest weight was 168 and now I am at 205. I started at 300. I refuse to gain anymore weight back. This has been the HARDEST time in my l…

I've been sick with bad congestion. What over the counter medications are we allowed to take and do we take the normal dose? I have like 6 bottles of children's acetaminophen I was given as a prescription when I came home from surgery. I don't really need a fever reducer more of a congestion reliever. I am sniffling and coughing up phlegm ugh its not a pretty sight! ?

Hi everyone, I just feel the need to vent and maybe you won’t be so hard on me. I’ll take all the advice you got. I am 5 years post op Vertical Gastric Sleeve (lost over 110 pounds, kept it off) but have come across a dilemma. A lot of it is my fault. During this time period I had not been taking my vitamins not until the beginning of this year (Chewable 4 times a day.) The excuse for this was because I couldn’t down so many pills, but after doing research there are alternatives I KNOW THIS NOW. Towards the end of the year, I started having Gallstone Attacks. They were so severe, that I ended up getting my entire Gallbladder removed (last week). I’m recovering well, …

Has anyone had the sleeve gastrectomy AFTER having a hysterectomy? I had a hysterectomy in 2015. Since then, I am unable to lose weight on my own, hence the reason for having WLS in upcoming September. I’m afraid that I will still struggle to lose the weight after the WLS. Or that it won’t work at all. I’d appreciate feedback from anyone and everyone who has had the sleeve gastrectomy after a hysterectomy, or knows someone who has. Thank you in advance!

I am about 9 years post-op, I did very well up until my 40th birthday. then things went for the worst! slowly but surely gained 20 pounds each year! Not to mention having really really bad reflux. I cannot eat anything spicy, drink late at night even brush my teeth without having reflux. I went to my bariatric doctor and I feel like he just gets angry and scolds me for not logging food. He said I have some leaking but it is my weight gain that causes my reflux and tells me I cannot have a revision because he is sure it my food choices that have caused my weight gain and reflux. I make some bad choices but nothing nearly what I was before my procedure. I almost never drin…

I am almost one month post op and have been in a stall for a week Dropped 20lbs in the first couple weeks. Hopefully it's about to break though. I am down a couple more this morning. So my doctor had me start soft foods about a week ago and in our plan at one month I can try new things. I've pretty much had no issues adding in anything and so I tried grilled chicken and broccoli. I chewed it really well and no issues. But is it normal to add in chicken so early? Has anyone else seemed to move through the eating states this easy and quick?

Hi everyone. I am 9 months post sleeve and down 120lbs. As of 3 months ago I started having inflammation, redness, bruising, and swelling in my hands and feet. The symptoms are similar to rheumatoid arthritis but I have been tested for it and it's come back negative. They also tested for lupus, gout, and more. So far everything negative. I was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this or if they experienced this at any time post op. So far the doctors havent been able to give me any answers. Anybody else out there going through this?

Hi all! Well I’m slowly getting through this new phase in my life and becoming closer with Sleevie (my sleeve) everyday. Just need a little advice. I am about tired of water because it tastes funny. I use to love water and now I can only drink about 8oz before it starts tasting funny. What type of juice can we have? Also as far as food it seems I can only tolerate ground beef and shrimp. I haven’t tried too much just yet. I don’t do protein shakes instead I eat my protein. My go to meals now are eggs, bacon, mini meatloafs, and chip less nachos. Please I need more meal options. Thanks you. I wish I could have some fruit!

Hello ladies and gents, Quick question, do any of you do the intermittent fasting and if so, how do you manage to get in your carbs and most importantly, your calories? Prior to starting the fast, I did the 5 day pouch reset and since then, I don't seem to be hungry. Thankfully, I've lost 12 pounds and am still losing. I drink water through the day and I'm sure, that's a huge part of it. Yesterday for lunch, I had a bacon burger minus the bread, and a salad. I ate half of the patty and a mini salad and for dinner, I ate the other half of the patty and ate another salad. I literally wasn't hungry for the rest of the day. I fast from 12pm - 8pm, and have been for…

Really, I don't know how much help I need versus just needing someone, anyone who knows what I'm going through to listen to me vent. I guess you can say I was in the lower "High weight" class starting this journey at 231lbs, at one point I was all the way up to 246 and at only 5'2... not good. I was sleeved on October 19, 2017 so I am just over the 2 year mark. The lowest weight I seen was 136. I sat at 138-142 for over a year (Doing awesome at maintenance). But then life happened my husband and I moved Across country for work, only to move back to the state we left 5 months later due to my youngest daughter being diagnosed with a rare bone disease that causes…

Hello Everyone, I hand my Bariatric Sleeve on 1/9/2020 and the pain I’m feeling is no joke. I was not prepared for this much pain happening and I’m constantly burping all day long. I got pain mostly in my upper abdominal areas and pain on both sides especially on my right abdominal side. I also just stared passing gas a day in a half ago and it hurt during that time also. Have anyone experience this and can give me tips on finding relief?

So a little background: I am a 6'3" male who had my "Sleeve" done in July and ran into a small Pulmonary Embolism which kept me at the hospital an extra week. I have to take blood thinners for at least 1 year but thank god they have moved me off of the Lovenox injections (I hate and fear needles) and onto a pill so it's not that big of a bother now . A month before surgery I was 500lbs but got down to 455lbs on the day of my surgery. I honestly forgot what my weight was 3-4 months ago on my last surgeon visit and any scales I have had access to since then top out at 300-350lbs. I vaguely recall one doctors scale saying 375 almost 2 months ago but it could have been in err…

Hi everyone, I am here to find a community of people who have had weight loss surgery (VSG for me but any time is fine) and have regained their weight. I can take accountability to my choices and mistakes, this is more a thread where we can encourage and support each other through the experience of once again having to lose weight. Hoping to connect with a few people and get a good exchange going. Yayawhat ?

Hi, I am at a standstill with my weight-loss, I want to know what quantity of food do you eat. I don't want to rely on the sleeve to tell me when to quit. I do that now and I want to make sure that isn't the cause of the plateau.

Hi all, Had VSG a year ago and lost 55 lbs. I had the lapband and of course converted to the sleeve. I experienced loose skin with the VSG as opposed to the lapband, even though I lost more weight with the lapband. I do not want any surgery to remove the loose skin although it’s not that noticeable to someone else, but more of a concern to me since I have to look at it everyday naked. My face is small naturally, but it now looks sunken. I started exercising four months after the surgery; however the loose skin is still very present. Any suggestions? Intimacy is on the back burner because of this. Help!!!!

I just read an article that 50% of sleeves patients regain their weight back!!! Is this true? I’m feeling some type of way. How does this happen? I just got sleeved and my insurance only gives one bariatric surgery a lifetime. I chose the sleeve, mainly because I was afraid of losing too much weight with the bypass. I will stay focused each day and do what needs done, and thank my higher power for this new chance at life.
