Hi all! First post. I’m 21 years old, 278 lbs and I have my surgery to be scheduled on the 18th. I’m currently on my liver shrinking diet which requires me to drink two protein shakes a day and I can have lean meats and vegetables fruits and for snacks sugar free jello and Greek yogurt. Usually in a day I just drink One protein shake for breakfast , protein shake for lunch and for dinner a baked chicken breast and jello. Well today I messed up and had 6 peanut butter crackers. I feel really guilty and now im paranoid that my liver won’t shrink good enough. Any advice?

Hey guys.. so on feb 3rd I was sleeved and was given a total of 3 shots to prevent blood clots at the hospital, 1 in my arm and 2 in my thigh. Till this day I still have nasty bruises on my thigh because of the shot. I’m a little worried because of the bruising and I feel actual pain on my thigh where the shot was given. Today I had woken up out of my sleep because I was thirsty, and I moved my leg and my thigh was in soooo much pain, really bad cramping at the site. I’m not sure if it’s something I should bring up to the nurse or if it’s normal but I need to hear other people’s experience because mine isn’t the best. I don’t think it’s normal to get pains here and …

I am 9 weeks post op and down 30lbs. Not the fastest weight loss but I’m happy with it. I haven’t gained any since starting, just a steady loss. I can pretty much eat anything.. haven’t tried much salad or of course steak. Had a super long 2-3 week stall and the pounds are coming off again. I think once you’re healed it starts coming back off?? Anyone else feel that?? I’m just going off what I’ve read on here and what I’m experiencing. I am feeling better as the weeks go on. More confident, which has been a struggle.

Hi. I'm five weeks post op. Can anyone check my diet and see if it's anywhere like correct. I'm only loosing 1.5lbs a week. Okay so breakfast....one egg white with chicken.. Snack milk... Lunch chicken and broccoli... Snack yogurt.... Dinner.. Fish and mashed Brussel sprouts.... Snack milk.... Plenty of water throughout the day. Supper... Protein yogurt... Is this correct. All sizes of meals would fit in a ramakin dish and come to about 700 calories per day. Should I be loosing more. Or eating more. Or am I about right. Thanks in advance for your help

I don't have a horrible story for you, sorry. I was 378 pounds when i started this process. I'm now 169 pounds and struggling to gain weight. I'm not sure if this has ever been a topic here but i'd like to start it............ I'd like for those of you who are a year old after surgery and went hardcore like i did to reach out to me. I want to be 185 ish or so anything between 200 and 185 is fine. Looking to talk to others that lost massive weight, took this serious, and are serious about maintaining it. Hit me up in private messages if you have to.

Hello everyone, kind of an odd question, but did anyone start the weight loss diet and end up losing all/most of their weight before surgery? Y husband decided we would start the diet well before surgery and in 2 weeks I have dropped 13lbs.

Hi!! I’m 29 and I’ve been dealing with my weight for the past 2-3 years (depression included). My BMI is 29.9 and my weight is 181 pounds, but my normal weight all my life had been 125 pounds. I’ve tried SO hard to get back in shape and it has not been posible. It really sucks for me to look in the mirror and see such a different person (it doesn’t help that people with unsolicited opinions tell me that me knees hurt because I’m fat, or the neighbor asking me “have you always been this big? or my mom “you don’t Try hard enough””....Anyways. My weight got to affect my mental health in the past year and I’m tired of hiding at home, crying, hating the mirror, hating the clos…

I am currently in Month 3 of my 6 month diet plan. Last week my surgeon did an EGD and discovered that I have a very large Hiatal hernia, that she will repair at the same time that she does the sleeve. From What I read, I should be able to submit my paper work for approval around Mid-August.. what is the usual wait time with BCBSoM ? Thanks so much for all of the advice!

I posted earlier saying my first two days were rough, not gonna lie but suddenly by day 3 and forward and felt sooooo much better. I am still drinking protein shakes and water and broth and having a bit of yogurt too. Noticing the hunger that comes on is real...real as like before, however the stomach WILL say no after a certain amount of intake..That’s what it’s all about. Feeding yourself healthy things. I’m 10 Pounds down and feel better already. My sips don’t have to be tiny as I had feared, they are normal , just no chugging. No regrets !

So everyone hears about the folks that are lucky enough to lose quickly and we see them lose 100lbs in 5 months but for many of us we lose slowly and feel like CRAP about it. This should be a place for us to talk about our frustrations and get advice or encouragement. Maybe you have found a way to speed up your weight loss through trial and error and that might help someone too. I know I work my ass off and I still lose slowly... and then every once in a blue moon ill lose quickly (for me anyway) but I can eat consistently in the mid 600's, protein around 90, water over 80oz and i workout hard at least an hour 6 days a week and i can lose - NOTHING. ZILCH. NADA and its …

Has anyone gone through the process self pay and then switched to insurance? I have been going through as self pay and I actually have a surgery date of March 12th. My husband is starting a new job and it looks like that insurance may actually cover the surgery! Has anyone ever made the switch mid way through the process? Looking for suggestions on how best to make sure that I make as smooth a transition as possible and don’t delay surgery any more then I need to!

I'm 10 1/2 months post-sleeve, and I've had what I KNOW is a lot of success--HW of 406 exactly one year ago, 368 on surgery date, and I'm 228 today. Though...I was 221 only five days ago, but dear friends in town equaled two days of fantastic wine and eating all day as we played tourists in my hometown...aaaand I found myself at 231 on Tuesday morning. And now I want to scream: How did I screw up my own great progress, after a January of doggedly trying to break a stall, finally succeeding...and now I have to re-lose these ten pounds before getting back to it?? What's making it so anxiety producing is, I know this "weight gain" is mostly water--I mean, I can clearly see t…

Hi All, I’m booked in for surgery this Thursday 13th Feb. My doctor is Dr Michael France at Ashford Hospital in Adelaide SA. I’m truly terrified. I have a 5 year old little girl who is my absolute world and I’m so petrified of something happening to me and leaving her behind - does anyone else feel this way??? I feel selfish to a degree, that I’m doing this think which involves risk ..... but I also know I’m doing it so that I can be a healthier, happier mother to my girl. Someone tell me it will be okay! How long were you in hospital? How severe is the pain? Is it as hard of a road as I’ve been reading from other sleevers? Advi…

I’m a kidney transplant patient. I received my gift of life 2 years ago. I’ve gained 50lbs being on steroids and transplant meds. I used to run 3-4 half marathons a year and now I can barely make it up a couple flights of stairs. My surgery is scheduled February 24th.

I splurged this week on new underwear, the first since surgery. I was careful to use my measurements to buy them and brought them home and washed them, as I always do before wearing them. I took the panties out and immediately said to myself, no way my big a** will fit these, to my surprise they fit. I did and said the same for the first lacey bra I've had in decades. It fit too. I need to be kinder to myself and not allow my head to talk to me like this. An exciting day and a big victory that I can't share with anyone but my husband, he's thrilled BTW. I suspect it will take some time for the head to catch up with the body. Now if I'm in an accident and rushed to t…

So I’ve never been one to not eat healthy. I gained 80lbs because of health issues in just a couple years. I was super fit and a personal trainer before that. I had surgery in December 2019. I mainly eat protein naturally. Is it important to eat more protein for a reason? I notice I can’t eat much more than the protein anyways?

Hi guys, I hope this amazing community can help my mom and family that’s been going through some great hardships due to serious medical problems: my mother had a massive heart attack and while at the hospital had lung and kidney failure which led to a 2-month stay...she then had heart surgery (triple bypass) but her kidneys aren’t working and she’s been on hemodialysis 3 days a week for 4+ hours a day and that took a huge financial toll on the whole family. They’re behind on rent, car payments, car insurance, electrical bills, credit cards, banks, loans, everything together is close to $15000! If you guys could please come together and help her would be great ❤️ …

Not going to lie...I was miserable yesterday...slight fever, dry heaving. Super bad pain and could t stomach anything and they wanted me to get they 3 mini cups of broth to soothe my stomach. Home today thankfully and sipping all the time but I do feel that cold lump in my throat and pain in my tummy when I drink. I am loving the mini burps I am starting to have here and there as such a relief. Question - does the pain get better in time..after sipping, my mouth is also bone dry ...all the time ...just hoping it gets easier .

So I’m 6 weeks out from my surgery and I have to admit that I had a pretty easy time immediately afterwards. After nausea the first day in the hospital, I have had no side effects - no gas pain, no more nausea, no aversion to temperature/taste/texture, etc. However, I feel like I am hungry ALL THE TIME and have found that I can EASILY eat 1000+ calories in a day. I am making sure to get all of my protein in (I average about 85g per day), as well as a minimum of 64oz of water, and I have been doing so mostly without the aid of shakes/clear protein drinks the past couple of weeks. I know that meeting that protein solely with food is part of why my calories are so high b…

Home for day two post and this morning I am sipping my first small serving of protein drink! It taste So good! Lol, pain for me has been nile to none at all; I still have the pain patch behind my ear so maybe that's why. They started me on the small 30ml cups in the hospital as well and those do help me keep up with my water demand. Over all experience, I'd do it all over again I feel fantastic other than a little it drowsy none and then so of course I nap! Dr sent me home with the liquid codein/advil medicine and it tastes like robitussin, not sure to liquids for meds but I took it before bed last night just in case and it must work but I was exhausted and …

Just an update. I was 236 lbs in 7th grade. Went as high as 340 in early 20's. March of 2019 I was weighing 280. Started 2 week preop diet at 274. Surgery was 7-23-19 and now 6.5 months later I am 173lbs. Initial goal was 175 (5'7") but still have some more to lose so setting goal around 165 before I start trying to add some muscle back. Stayed around 600 cal and 60g protein for about 4.5 months then tried to up it around 800 and 100g protein, that seemed to work ok. Occasionally I'll hit 1000 but other days struggle to get 600. Very little hunger, just know when I NEED to eat. Food just not that important to me anymore. Still foamies and throw up when I eat to fast.…

hi there, I am having a sleeve at the end of May and due to travel on a 2 week holiday in the beginning of August. The holiday has been booked for some time, do you think I will be ok going on holiday 7 weeks after my wls? I suppose I am worried that there may be complications, or that I will still be struggling to drink or eat anything. I am not bothered about the all inclusive food (looking forward to not gaining for once) but I am more concerned that I might be at the airport struggling to get liquids down or keep food down at this stage. Any advice? anyone been on holiday so soon after wls?
