Hi. I had gastric sleeve surgery in September of 2016. I quickly lost weight and put a lot of it back on. However, in January of 2019, I changed my diet with the doctor’s help. Throughout 2019, I steadily lost weight. I am 5’8” tall. Before surgery I weighed 289 pounds. My goal was 190 pounds. That’s still a higher than average weight, but I would have been more than satisfied, considering how heavy I was. I now weight 180 pounds. I am very happy at this weight, even though I “should” weigh 165 pounds. My weight doctor and nurse practitioner want me to drop another 10 pounds. I feel some pressure to loose more weight, but I want to first successfully …

So I’m new here, I found this place on google when searching and I figured I would join and see if I can get some insight from people going through similar things as me. i had gastric sleeve/hernia repair on Monday (5/18/2020) I started full liquid diet yesterday and I have noticed after every protein shake (premier protein) I get diarrhea within 20-30 minutes. Is this normal? Diarrhea didn’t start until I got home from hospital. I have only attempted to eat jello and that was prior to bed last night so I don’t think it caused diarrhea. I am struggling with fluids and getting them down so the idea of having diarrhea too is stressing me out. Advice please? …

Does anyone get a hot and red face after protein drinks or beans? It is the only symptom. No heartburn or nausea like with full dairy.

  6. My original surgery time was suppose to be the around the end of March. Like many others I was postponed until further notice. On April 25th I started having horrible abdominal pain. It got so bad that I ended up going to the emergency room late that evening. Well due to having some of my pre-op testing already done (in January) I had found out that my gallbladder was in what the nurse referred to as “yucky conditions” and she was surprised that I wasn’t having any pain then. So after a quick google search the only thing I could assume was wrong was I was having a gallbladder attack! I had never experienced anything like it before, it was awful! So, while in the em…

Hey gang, I started having some relatively sharp/stabbing pinch like pain in my stomach... more to the left of my stomach under/below my rib cage Yesterday. I had my surgery December 16th 2019 and haven’t had this pain since a couple of weeks after surgery... do you think I should worry? Maybe I picked up my 35 pound daughter too much? Or ate too much ? I’m freaking out but I’m too scared to go get it checked because of covid! Thanks for your help/feedback! Neda

Hello everyone, I’m from the uk so I apologise in advance if I use measurements etc that you don’t usually use but I had a gastric sleeve on 3rd July 2019 so about 10 months or so ago, I’ve lost 45kg but have about another 15 to lose and as you can imagine it’s now very slow loss and some weeks none at all! I’m averaging around 1000/1300 cal a day and walking over 4 miles every day burning around 500cal but the scales aren’t budging at the moment. Am I eating too little? Too much? Should I cut down my activity? I’m very lost right now and could use some advice. How many cals are others on and how much activity etc? I will speak to my nutritionist etc when it’s possible to…

  15. Hi! I just got my sleeve March 17th. A few other people I know that got the sleeve (from a different surgeon/hospital) were prescribed medication that reduces the chance of getting gallstones and a gallbladder infection (and consequently lessens the chance of having to get your gall bladder removed) since rapid weight loss can cause gall bladder issues. My surgeon and his assistant did not prescribe these to me. It seems common to get them for Atleast the first few months post surgery. I sent an email to my dr last night through the portal requesting them, because I’m an anxious person and I’m sure I’ll just think I’m getting them constantly if I don’t do something to try…

Hello everyone. Newbie here analyzing everything. I am wondering about the pouch twisting. I am reading that sometimes it is sutured in to something to not twist but is that the standard? How long do we worry about the pouch twisting? Lifetime? Does that mean we are always at risk if we do more activities later on? Also, does it take a lot to twist or just getting up wrong?

Hey all, I used a glycerin suppository about an hour ago and it is supposed to make you go anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes after inserting... it's been over an hour and nothing. The bottle says to call a doctor but with all the covid stuff...nothing! Anyone else deal with this? I'm scared.

  23. hey everyone. I'm almost 5 months out of surgery and have lost 60 lbs. Ive been one of people that decides to torture myself and weighs almost every day. The fluctuations i see on the scale are crazy. This entire month I've had a stall. I realize that I lost a good amount of weight in 4 months, so I'm sure it's normal but frustrating. I've literally only lost one pound the entire month and I've not done anything wrong. I'm hoping I break that soon as most months I average around 10 lbs loss. Anyway, what I notice weighing every day is I will lose a few lbs in several days, then it seems like a go up a lb or so, only to relose and then some after that, little at a t…

I recently packed up my belongings and sold my house in PA, in hopes to finding a brighter, happier future in North Carolina. Ive been here for about 2 months now. Hi, I need help! I had the sleeve in March of 2015. About a year ago I started gaining weight back. I've gained about 25 lbs back. I recently got a personal trainer and have been working out consistently for 2 months. The problem is the scale hasn't moved. My trainer focuses on strength training. So 4 of the 5 days we workout we are lifting and 1 day is cardio for about 30 minutes. He wants me to eat more because of this but physically I can't ( you guys can relate). He wants me to eat more than 1200 calories a day but I'm only getting in about 600. Maybe 700 or 800 on a good day. I just need advice. It's been a while since I've posted. I had my surgery December 2015. Didn't really have any trouble to speak of but fast forward to tonight. I ate too fast and I felt a burning pain in my chest as the food passed. I knew it would be coming back up soon but when it did it was accompanied by a lot of bright red streaks of blood in the mucus. It seems to have stopped but this has never happened before. Is this something I need to have checked out?

Google is getting me nowhere. I had VSG and a hiatal hernia repair in April 2018. I got through post op liquids & purées just fine, but when I moved to soft solids, I started having issues with throwing up my food & getting the slimies. This was happening multiple times a day. My surgeon passed it off as me eating too fast, not chewing enough, or eating too many bites. Fast forward to now. I’m a year & a half out from VSG, and while I initially lost 80 lbs, I’ve had regain. This is mostly because I’m still vomiting after least once a day, so I keep choosing foods that are easier to get down (carbs). My fault on the regain. But I’m still throwing up. …
