I have no sex drive right now I am always tired and exhausted. I do have two small children but I feel like I should have more of a sex drive than I do. I am hoping this improves after surgery after loosing weight. Has anyone had an increase in their sex drive? I really want my sex life to be the way it was a while back. Anyone have any insights??

I'm up early this morning not for surgery, as I was last year, but for my one-year appointment. I am thrilled with the results and just can't believe where I was last year. I am an ex-bander and old for this journey, I'll be 74 this year. I have my life back, I can jump off the boat and get up the ladder, the same with the dock. I'm having fun with my grandkids again. I go for walks, swims, and move about without the aches and pains I once had. Food is no longer my joy in life, life is my joy. I eat to live and not live to eat. I reached stage 4 eating and just stayed there. I have a protein drink for breakfast, 4oz of cottage cheese for lunch, 4oz of protein for dinner w…

I had the VSG on June 29th. So far my experience has been pretty rotten. I passed out on 6/30 while sitting on the side of the bed. The nurse caught me and called for a rapid response. My BP dropped to the 70/40 range. I became tachycardic with a HR of 180. The response team put a pad on my chest to shock it into rhythm but thankfully it was just rapid not out of sync Later that day they did an upper GI with barium swallow that showed I was leak free. The next morning on 7/1 my blood tests showed I had internal bleeding as my hemoglobin was 7.9 The surgeon did the wait and see game and started me on IV fluids at a bolus rate. The next day on 7/2 my hemoglobin was at 8.1.…

Did any of you ladies miss a period after surgery? I have 0% chance of being pregnant so in just curious if it's due to the rapid weight loss. Thanks!!

  7. So after a month of waiting I had my first consultation with the surgeon. He seemed great, listened to me, let me know ESG isn't covered by my insurance so we're going with surgical VSG. He said that I probably only have to do one appointment with the dietician and then the psych eval, cardio/upper GI exam and weight class/exam. After we got off of our call I felt like I was going to have a panic attack. It just felt real finally and I had those intense moments of food grief and then imagined a nightmare scenario where my fiance leaves me because I can't drink and eat him under the table anymore. But then he was very supportive tonight after watching some more videos abou…

10 days out. Still on my liquid diet of protein shakes and chicken broth and sugar free popsicles. I feel ravenous like I could eat everything I don't know if it's eye hunger, or just the deprivation of anything resembling chewing. Tonight I went over to visit my boyfriend and I ended up meeting a small piece of chicken jerky. I chewed it and chewed and chewed it and now that I've eaten it I feel so guilty and I'm waiting for my stomach to explode or something. I needed to confess because I feel like I've done a bad thing anyone else had this happened to them? I'm getting nervous that when I can eat I'm just going to eat everything please somebody tell me that the small…

I had endoscopic gastric sleeve on July 19th. I have lost 20 pounds so far. The last several days I have found myself missing my old eating habits. Like eating chips, candy, larger amounts of food in general. My appetite has not increased so I have been able to stick with the diet (500 - 600 calories, 50-60 grams of protein per day) but I don't know why I just recently started missing food. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had my surgery on June 9 and I was doing ok with food until this week and I started getting sick. Is this normal? I am sick of being sick. I am so sleepy all the time also. Last week I felt better than ever but that didn't last long.

Just reaching out to see what everyone's experience has been if you converted from lap band to sleeve. I wasn't worried at all with lapband but I am a little with this surgery

I'm 15 days post-op - and started soft foods today. It's been a challenge! I literally had 1/3 of a scrambled egg for breakfast, 1/3 for lunch, and 1/3 for dinner. And 1 tablespoon of grits with 1 teaspoon of light cream cheese. I did the whole mash into tiny bites, and I took breaks between each tiny bite, and chewed well - which was really weird trying to chew a bite the size of a pencil eraser 15 times. I'm going to have to have a protein shake at some point tonight to try and boost my protein. And my stomach is *really* grumbling tonight. I really haven't had a hard time with full liquids - after the first few days. I'm hoping soft foods will kinda be like liq…

I had surgery on July 9th and at my first post-op appointment, my surgeon didn't discuss my weight loss numbers at all. I lost 12 pounds since surgery and 10 pounds since my first visit to him. Is this odd? My BMI is 33 but the whole point was weight loss. I guess I could've asked but... Is that normal? Did your surgeon comment at your firt post-op appointment?

I'm so excited! I bought some unflavored protein powder to up my protein intake before surgery. Since I have diabetes, I drink the Boost Glucose Control for now but I know that will change after surgery. Anyway, I added the protein powder to my Boost shake and it made the shake taste better! I mean really, really good. It was almost like a vanilla milkshake! I'd recommend this stuff in a heartbeat! Yay! ?

I'm looking forward to the results, but not the surgery, as I've never been under the knife!! There appears to be lots of info here which will be of great use and I'm sure I'll be using the forum to have a moan at some point. Cheers, Paul

So I emailed my nutritionist in the am and asked if I can move on to creamy soups (I'm on day 7). She said just listen to your body. I was so eager to try Cream of Mushroom that I added a quarter can of whole milk when it called for a whole can. I misread my full liquid diet directions and poured myself half a cup. Well, lets just say I know my limit now. Less than a quarter of a cup!! Not only that , thirty minutes later I ran to the restroom 3x!! Was this dumping or am I lactose intolerant??

My initial plan was to have sleeve surgery and see if my fertility boosted but I fear I left this too late. I’m 40 & my gynaecologist is recommending a hysterectomy for long standing adenomyosis and endometriosis. I have to accept this as I can’t tolerate my periods and I can’t stay on menopause injections long term. Weight gain is partially from my hormones. My question is can I have a sleeve first or will I regain after hysterectomy??

Good morning! This is my first day I am able to drink smoothies. I made my smoothie with my vanilla flavored protein and was so disappointed! I can NOT stomach the protein. Not sure if I’d even be able to stomach the flavorless protein powders because the ones I’ve tried also have a taste. They all taste like milk(which I do not enjoy drinking). Are there any supplements or anything else I can take to get my protein in during this phase?

  32. Hello all! I’ve been going through this journey for a painstakingly long amount of time! I’ve been trying to get the gastric sleeve surgery for years. My old insurance started off telling me they do cover the procedure, so I went 6 months into the process for the program coordinator at the hospital to call me last minute and tell me that it was not in fact covered under my insurance. So at the beginning of this year when it was time to choose a new policy, I specifically picked one that would cover it. I even called to confirm. BUT! When I received the updated overview of coverage for 2020, they had JUST amended the policy to exclude bariatric surgery. How crummy?!? So …

I am 5 weeks post op and am suppose to go back to work on Monday. I totally don't feel ready. I am tired on and off all day and am struggling with being able to eat more than 2oz of any food combination. I can't imagine a 40 minute commute and a 8 1/2 hr work day as a nurse. Hi all, Not sure if this is in the right place, but I had questions about how you all paid/are paying for surgery? I've been looking at self-pay options, financing, and CareCredit. After waffling back and forth for the last year, I have decided I do want to pursue surgery. My insurance will not cover it. So, I am looking at all my options. I'm still a little wary, only because I also am set to being graduate school in the next year and I am afraid of blowing up my finances. I'm just looking for stories of how you all made it work when it was not covered by insurance. Covid is also making it difficult. I had considered traveling to Mexico, but it doesn't look like tha…

Help! I just made myself a protein shake with unflavored zero carb isopure, less than 1/2 cup of almond milk, a small banana and a few pieces of frozen peach and strawberry. I took 2 or 3 sips and within 20 min started feeling nauseous and queezy. I'm not sure if this is dumping syndrome or if it just didn't sit well in my sleeve. Can natural sugar from fruit cause dumping?? Any advice is appreciated!

Hi all, I was sleeved on the 14th of July. This is my second day at home. I hate to drink because my stomach hurts every time something goes down. Is this normal and if so when does it stop? What can I do about it too. I'm on clear liquids right now.

So I had my surgery June 26th, and just past my 3rd week and only lost 1 pound. I am walking every day and have progressed up to 5k steps a day and not losing. I am in my puree phase and my typical day is a half an avocado, Greek yogurt, and tuna mashed. My snacks are a SF popsicle, SF jello, or unsweetened apple sauce. After surgery I was not able to drink the premier shakes as they induced nausea so I have been using an unflavored protein powder and mixing in a Zero powerade and water with crystal light. Not sure what I may be doing wrong and this Friday I start my soft food phase and not sure what my menu will be yet. Any help would be appreciated

I'm just so bored with it all and I'm really wanting to choose something I don't want to be a cheater but I'm wondering did everyone say totally liquid until week 3? 44. Hello there! My name is Jen... I am a night shift (7p-7a) RN in a pediatric level 1 trauma ER. I work three shifts a week. My shifts are never consistently on the same days so my schedule is all over the place. I am slotted to have the VSG in early October and was looking for advice on meal planning. Specifically how my fellow nurses who work the same shift out there time their meals and water intake. Any advice is welcome! Thank you in advanced!

I'm incredibly shocked how well things are going right now (knock on wood), given that things didn't start incredibly well. I had my sleeve done Monday morning. They tell me I was under just a bit over 4 hours. It was a robotic-assisted surgery. I'm not gunna lie, Monday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon when I was discharged were miserable. I had been suffering with severe constipation the last 2 days of my preop diet, and that continued through the recovery period, with the abdominal pressure and distension pushing back upstream, which made ridding my system of the excess gas from the surgery extremely difficult. I hadn't slept a wink the night before surgery, an…

Hi everyone. Today is 6 months out for me. Doing well. No problems at all...except constipation. I drink a lot of water, get in the recommended protein, exercise and take in less than 20 grams of carbs. a day. My surgery weight was 203 on 1/15/20. Today I weigh 133.2 ...7/15/20. I’m pretty happy with that. I do have to confess I get a bit jealous when I read a lot of you lose quite a bit more than that in the same amount of time. I have lost 10 pounds every months...almost consistently! I can say I have rarely ever went over 500 calories a day since day 1. My goal is 120 lbs. almost there!!! Just wanted to check in and wish everyone well!!!!
