I am six months post sleeve lost 150 pounds since October surgery. Last night I had 3 ounces of pulled pork and this morning I cannot leave the bathroom. Too much sugar and fat????

  3. Started by IAmGrace,

This has been one of the biggest disappointments of my life. I had a gastric sleeve performed on February 26. I was exactly 200 pounds on the day of my surgery. Today, almost 8 weeks out I am a measily 14.5 pounds down. BIG DEAL. I suffered miserably! Apart from that I counted on the surgery to help me. I am doing all the work and from what I can see, the surgery is doing nothing.

Hi Folks: I have no doubt that there are lots of you out there who have recently had a gastric sleeve or bypass in the Boston area. My sleeve was done on February 26 at MassGeneral by Denise Gee. I feel very well. Maybe too well. I find that I don't feel "full" as some describe here. Actually I don't remember feeling full since I was a little kid and that was a very long time ago. I'm just about 3 weeks out from surgery and I'm down 10 pounds. Doesn't seem like much but when you average it out it's about 3 pounds a week so I guess that's not bad. I waiting for the "big weight drop" but right not it's not feeling like it's going to happen! Please d…

  5. I spent a better part of the day yesterday in the ER. I am unable to extend my left foot toward my body. I can currently bend it down and to the side, it also drags when I walk. After they ruled out a stroke and ran many tests they diagnosed me with nerve palsy with drop foot. Nothing hurts, my brain simply will not communicate with my foot to move. There were several PAs and Dr's seeing me, and out of the 7 or 8 of them, they have only seen this a few times and each patient was a weight loss surgery patient. They think that it might be temporary, but could be permanent. Sometimes it is linked to a deficiency in B12 or B1 but my labs were perfect. It could also be linked…

Hello! It’s been a long time since I have posted. I had the sleeve a couple years ago. I had juice this morning that I made - it had oranges, carrots, strawberries, apples and half of a beet. The juice was dark red. I drank about 8 ounces over the course of 30-45 minutes? Or so. Not long after that I had to go to the bathroom. It was red. I’m talking barely an hour later maybe. Urine has not been pink or red. I’m not sure if that would happen so quick? But I realize our digestion is probably a little different.

  7. just thought I would ask what everyones favorite food (not premier protien) is from costco after surgery? I like the meatballs, hummas and frozen cod.

How is everybody doing with the quarantine situation? For those who must stay at home, are you finding it easier/harder to stick with a healthy eating plan? What particular challenges are you facing?

My 23 year old daughter had gastric sleeve surgery on 3/4/2020 due to her polysistic ovary disorder - it seemed to have gone extremely well - she tolerated things well and drs were very pleased . About a week later , she developed a low grade fever which has persisted everyday all day ever since -6 weeks ago now ! She says she has no other symptoms but did have a bit of a headache the first few days. The fever has been between 99'.5--101.3. Though she claims it's rarely over 100. Something. I've been extremely concerned - this is very bad timing obviously . Her live in fiancé has been forced into going into work ( and he's non essential to boot ) until the doctors finall…

  10. Hi! I am 3 months post op. I have been hiking through the beautiful mountains in Colorado. But I have not hit the gym yet. Is there any weight training videos that would help get me started? Or anyone has any recommendations? I am concerned most that I do not have the calories in that I need to lift weights? I really want to start lifting to tone and tighten what I can? So any help and any recommendations would be great!!!! Thanks in advance! Also! Any good body weight exercises that I can do while hiking? That will help with tone and tightening? We concentrate so much on weight ! Sometimes it's the inches lost that really shows up in your success! As one our bariatric veterans has once posted. " It's called Weight loss surgery but it should be called Fat loss Surgery" I'm ok with the inches lost ..

Hello, I will be having gastric sleeve ...probably not until summer with whats going on in the world. I am super nervous about being hungry! I had Orbera gastric Balloon and I was starving all the time! Worst mistake I ever made! So... I'm afraid this will be a repeat. What scares me even more is feeling like crap because I feel hungry. Such as...light headed, dizzy, foggy brain. I need to be able to work and it scares me that I will be a hungry walking zombie. I need some encouragement and inspiration...please! Thanks!

Hi !! so its been a while !! my story is like this - i had gastric sleeve surgery in dec 2017 and i lost about 30kg in the first year . since then i have stalled but haven't gained which i guess is good . I do have an additional 12kg to lose and and i don't know how to go about it - ive tried everything . About a year ago i started having abdominal pain sometimes which recently got much worse so i went to check it out and was diagnosed with gallstones . I'm having my gallbladder removed in two days and obviously i've been googling how this effects your weight , some people say it causes weight loss but many also claim it causes weight gain and i'm really freaking ou…

I am eating regular food now, and one thing I've noticed is that I get full very quickly, but I also get hungry again very quickly. I am spacing my eating/drinking as the doctor told me, but about an hour after eating, I find myself hungry (like, hunger pangs) again. Anyone else have this experience? Any tips? Thanks!

  17. I am pretty new to this site. I have had a Lap band for almost 5 years now. I've put back almost all of the weight I lost with it the first year. I've been really considering getting revised to a sleeve, but I've read and read and read about all the possible complications. These stories terrify me. I'm 40 years old and have 4 kids. I have to be here for them. I cannot spend months of my life in a hospital or laying in bed struggling to recover from complications from surgery. I'm basically healthy. I don't want to trade good health for losing some weight. One of the things that worries me is the lack of long-term info available on life after being sleeved. Are there an…

Anyone experiencing right side pain 6 months post op?

  20. I am still working, am considered an essential employee during the coronavirus pandemic, which is good for me because working curbs my snacking. Not today. Holy cow. I am 11 months post op and have certainly had days where I can eat more than other days. Today is absolutely different. I have eaten the most today since I had surgery and I genuinely felt hungry today. I had cottage cheese, a small "rockit" apple (they are tiny), popcorn (single serve skinny pop), string cheese, a smoked chicken sausage, a square of dark chocolate, almonds (one serving but HIGH in Cal's) and had dinner which was a ground beef/cabbage casserole and a (low sugar)fudge pop. I never…

How long am I limited to 5oz and hour? I’m having a hard time getting in enough liquid a day with being allowed to have purée. According to my dr I’m supposed to wait an hour after drinking to eat, then another hour after eating to drink. I know most of you only have to wait 30 minutes. But what I’m wondering is can I now drink more than 5oz of water an hour to make sure I get enough for my day totals? Between drinking my protein, taking my vitamins, getting in enough liquid and eating purée it’s really hard to time it all out. I know I have the time restrictions with vitamins and protein but my protein makes me so full that I can’t take anything in for a while and it tak…

So while we are sheltering in place and cooking at home here in Massachusetts, I wanted to get Thai food delivered as a special treat. And I ordered what I used to order pre-surgery: Steamed vegetables and chicken. But one of my friends was talking about bubble tea today and I wanted one. And the coconut soup looked so good. And since I'm not going anywhere, I got a shrimp roll in rice paper for tomorrow. The food came! So exciting! I made it through the soup and half the bubble tea before I was DONE. I totally ordered like I never had surgery. I guess I have food for the rest of the week now! Just curious if anyone else has done this.

  25. Started by Ostflicka,

I'm what 9 1/2 weeks out. (Oh 9 1/2 weeks is an old movie ?) I've been on shelter in place for 3 weeks now, it's so cray cray sometimes. I'm doing some walks and bike rides too but gosh I wish I could out be doing more. This is the perfect season to hike, but some of the best hiking is not really social distancing because the trails are too narrow. What is everyone doing to stay busy and activities you're doing to help stay active in the new lifestyle? I've been doing some coloring, playing some online games. I've been baking for the family ? I don't eat any of it but I keep making it. ??‍♀️??‍♀️ I'm bored.

I have been working so hard for a year getting prepared for my surgery now it was scheduled for tomorrow March 25. It was cancelled last week and I am very bummed out about it. I completely understand I am not the only one on this same situation. I am just anxious with out knowing when the surgery can be rescheduled for. I am doing my surgery at Loyola Hospital and they do not have dates to reschedule selective surgeries yet.

  27. I am 10 months PO. Haven't lost weight in a month or two. I don't know if I am done losing or if I need to dial in my eating more. I get around 1000-1200 Cal's a day 60g protien and 30g of sugar. I try to shoot much lower for sugar than that, but that's just an average. I've lost 96 lbs total but would like to lose 20 more.

Hi everybody! I hope that you are all staying healthy and well right now. I am totally new to this forum and have been reading things all day. I recently reached out to my Dr. For referral after a very scary incident that almost took my life, it was weight related. For years I have been terrified about the surgery because of some general surgery fears but for the most part because I was told it was the "cheaters route" or the "easy way out". I felt judged and condemned and unfortunately allowed myself to succumb to these beliefs. During that time I went from a heavy 245 to a very large life threatening 425. I guess my burning question is, is it okay to be scare…

I go to the Dr tomorrow for my first follow-up. If all goes well, he should advance me to purée for 2 weeks. Is there anything I should avoid? Anything I should try?

I’m 2 wks out from surgery (3/6) and have just started in mushy foods. I had two bites of scrambled eggs and I was completely full! 2 hours have passed and I’m still full to the point that I can’t even sip water... Is this normal? How long will this last? Definitely not getting my water in right now....?

  37. Helo! I have been lurking for a few days and wanted to advance to full participant! This Forum seems to be very helpful and encouraging. I am determined to get in more movement today. Since March 13th, we have been pretty much "at home". I was looking forward to hitting the gym, but alas, that is not to be. So, I did get in a 30-minute walk but I also am thinking about adding sort of online (youtube) exercising to my day. Anyone have any favorites they would like to recommend for a newcomer, beginner to mid-range? Also, I am trying to update my "stats" (surgery date and weights) on the left side of my profile page, but I cannot figure out how to do that,…

Spent the last 10 days trying to save Ginger but she died on me early morning yesterday, This is a example of why WLS is important - Due to her weight and lack of moving she caught a respiratory infection - The vets were all over it and so was i but due to her being obese she could not kick it! This is why fat people die of pneumonia alot also! So if you are on the fence take this as a warning! Now i have a 16 year old who is devastated at the loss, just venting! At least after 10 days of hell she can RIP

I'll start by saying save me the bible thumping crap about soda! I started drinking Diet Mt. Dew again recently as I'm three months post-op. I've found that getting a fountain drink and putting in lots of ice and then letting it sit for a while helps with de-carbonating it. Is there still carbonation? Yes, but it doesn't make me feel as bloated as drinking straight from a can does. I also didn't gain weight and get a huge belly as warnings have said elsewhere...I'm at 61 pounds lost since surgery and 85 since starting my program so I think I'm doing just fine. The same people who say listen to your body are the first to cast stones, but I'll say to those who have sacrific…

I chose this date out of the few offered to me because I am currently in college and I will be able to finish up my classes prior to the surgery (which was a huge worry of mine.) It's about two weeks before my birthday too! Anyone else scheduled out in December?
