I’ll try and keep this as brief as possible. Sorry if I rant on and on. As I went from 240 lbs to 390 lbs between 2009-2019 I slowly hid myself away from friends and family. The truth is I was in denial about how bad things were getting and I was embarrassed. I was ashamed of how I couldn’t keep up with my friends just walking around the city or fitting into booths at restaurants for family milestones. I was out of breath walking into work from the parking lot. I felt like if I could avoid these things in front of other people, if other people couldn’t confirm how limited I had become, it somehow made it less true. I have missed SO many adventures and huge important…

I’ve had a lapband removed 3 years ago and now wanting a sleeve. I’ve researched some surgeons and not got myself confused. I want a state of the art type hospital, ideally English speaking and a 37-38F bougie. I’ve researched this and smaller ones can cause problems. Who are the top 5 best of the best surgeons who operate in 5* type facilities?

My surgery was March 27th of 2019 and though I don't post in forums often, I have kept up with logging my weight info. I wanted to drop by to see how my fellow March 2019 sleevers are doing. Hands down a great decision for my health, physically and mentally. I feel great and I hope you all do as well.

It has been close to 2 1/2 years since my WLS surgery. I hit my goal weight around April of 2018 and have been struggling daily to maintain it. I have what I call a red line weight of 160 lbs that I don't want to go over. I weigh myself every Friday and if I hit 159/160lbs I automatically go into full drop weight mode. It seems that I'm going into this mode more and more as I get further from my surgery. I had to take a deeper look into not only what I'm eating, how much I'm eating and when I'm eating. What I'm eating is pretty much the same as before since I usually eat the same thing every day. It makes it easier for me to plan my meals since I tend to make poor food ch…

Hi, I could really use some advice. My back isn't in great shape. I've already had a L4/L5 spine fusion and now my L3/L4 is herniated. I know I am going to need some type of surgery to help with the pain I'm experiencing but my pain is currently controlled with medication and a spinal cord stimulator. I am really wanting to get the gastric sleeve surgery before I have anything done to my back. I'm hopeful the pain will reduce some and recovery would be easier with less weight stressing my back. My concerned mother really wants me to take care of my back before I have weight loss surgery so I'll be in a better place pain wise. If someone has been in this scenario, I'd …

So, I was just curious to know if anyone has had any experiences with leakage and any side affects you noticed before hand. Im on mushy foods at the moment. But yogurts and creamy soups arent doing it for me. So I've been eating eggs only and protein shakes. But lately my stomache feels bloated and lots of heartburn. I hope its not a sign of any leakage happening.

Hi all. Josh is the name. First post. I have surgery scheduled on Feb 26th. I'm excited. My wife has been against it for months when I first brought it up. Claims WLS is a money making scam and thinks that being a nurse makes her an expert. I let her know my plans as soon as i got a surgery date. About 5 weeks beforehand. I did kind of drop the news on her but I knew she would never let me get as far into the process as I have. Shes very unsupportive and is even threatening divorce if i go thru with it. I'd like to mention that i just found out shes pregnant so i think she may try stabbing me in my sleep.

This may be a stupid question...but, after reading over several posts on here and from my hospitals support groups site, I'm seeing a trend. I just want to confirm that I'm not going crazy and that trend is correct. Even though the numbers on the scales go down and our clothes get looser and sizes go down, do we still not really "see" our transformations? I know that for me, since I started this journey in December, I've lost over 80 pounds and I can tell it in my clothes, but to look at myself, I don't see one of my children missing from me...is that just my "fat" eyes?

So! I am almost 8 weeks out, and eating pretty well. I have a boost glucose control with protein shake 4-5 times a week, and hit my protein goals almost every day. However, I am having trouble finding snacks that I can have in between. Normally, I will do some peeled cucumber with laughing cow cheese or string cheese. I did find ostrim turkey sticks that are pretty tasty and healthy, too, but that's pretty limiting. I was wondering what other people do for snacks. I still can't eat beef (and no tuna- my stomach says NO!), but I was looking for good alternatives other than cheese that would be suitable for in between meal snacks. I have 1-2 a day so I can stay at…

I'm 4 days post op, getting the occasional hunger pains, I'm still on a liquid diet for a few days then I can go to purée. Did anyone eat sugar free vanilla ice cream during the liquid stage? I know we can do sugar free popsicles but I didn't know if a small scoop of sugar free ice cream would be okay. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Woke up with a sore throat and a little congestion. All the over the counter medicines seem to be NSAIDs. Can anyone recommend a brand or type to help with sore throat and cold symptoms? My surgeon’s office suggested Simply Saline nasal spray. Never tried it, but will see if that makes any difference. As always, thanks for any advice!

Hey everyone. My name is Claire and I'm 29, I recently had my lap-band removed and converted to the gastric sleeve. I had my surgery on 12/4/2019 so I'm almost 2 full weeks out. I've experienced a number of emotions since the surgery but most prevalent at the moment is depression. I feel so sad and so overwhelmed with how much weight I have to lose. After the lap-band I lost over 100lbs, my lowest weight was 154. I managed to gain over 200lbs within the last 5 years, where my alcoholism and addiction became increasingly problematic until I got sober 2 years ago. I'm impatient and I want the weight to "fall off" like everyone told me it would. All of the comments fro…

Hi all, I am so glad I found this group. I've been struggling a lot lately and have been having a very difficult time. I had gastric sleeve at the end of August 2018, so it's been about 6 months. Since the pre-op surgery, I've lost about 70 pounds. Sounds great, right? Well, I was at this weight 4.5 months post op. I have been stagnant for the last 7 weeks, not losing an ounce. I'd like to say I don't know why, but I do. I'm eating like garbage again. The first 3 months after surgery were great - I hardly felt hungry, and the thought of eating anything sugary physically repulsed me. Now I feel hungry all the time. I never fill full unless I chug a bunc…

I feel like I am already over doing it on how much I take in daily. I drink my protein shake in the morning and water threw out the day. My Dr. told me I could have cream or broth type soups so I will have on at lunch and one at dinner and it scares my that I am having to much for only being 7 days post.

Has anyone experienced this? Im 5 weeks post op, i have been on prozac for years, its capsule form, i had breakdown 10 years ago (panic/anxiety that lasted 4 days and nights uncontrolled, had to "think to breathe" and all other panic/anxiety symptoms) but have been managed since then, as soon as i came around from surgery a attack started as felt couldnt breathe, it subsided over the days and i dealt with it, went back to work 2 weeks post op, then BOOM one day driving to work massive panic/anxiety attack, rushed to hospital all stats were good, valium calmed me down, been in hell every day since (nearly 2 weeks) visited a psychiatrist and on 4 x a day special valium plus…

Hey All! I'm a newbie here, but I've finally decided to start the process and get information about VSG. I feel mentally ready for it and that it's time, as I've been going round and round with the decision for years. I go back to my new PCP on 3/10 of this month to discuss it more and get bloodwork. I gave her a head's up at my initial consult that this was something I wanted, and she said let's see if you are a candidate at your next appointment. I already made my appointment with the weight loss center for the information center on 3/25. They advised they do not need a referral from my PCP, but to have my most recent labs sent over. When I called the weight…

I am 10 days post-op. I am working hard at getting in my fluids and protein. Yesterday, I counted up my calorie intake out of curiosity and found that, with 64 oz of fluid and 75 g. of protein, I was only taking in 600 calories. Is that normal? Won't my metabolism switch into "starvation mode" and stall my weight loss? In fact, I have not lost anything appreciable in 3 days, so now I'm worried that this, like so many efforts before, will fail. Yes--lol--I've been burned by dieting many times so I have an incredible fear of failure in this regard. Should calories matter? I am setting myself up for another let down?

I'm pretty excited I started losing again after a three month or so stall. I got the sleeve a year and a half ago. All I did was lower my calories from 1,500 to 1,200 by stopping most snacks and I started doing more pilates. So without doing anything dramatic or particularly challenging, I'm now losing about a pound a week again. Very exciting!

So I had my surgery Thursday. I ended up having a very large Hiatal hernia that was repaired which caused my surgery to last 4 hours. I stayed in the hospital Thurday and Friday and came home Saturday afternoon. I still have a lot of pain from the air they put in. I was even told by the recovery room nurse that used a lot of air on me. It is starting to get some better. My biggest concern is I have had no problem at all drinking my water. Most everyone on here says they can't get close to getting it down. I can drink even more than the 64oz they want us to drink. It makes me wonder am I going to be able to eat normally instead of just a small amount? I will be liquids f…
