It has only been six weeks and I'm down 38 pounds which is about 40% to goal. I get plenty of protein in every day and am close to expected on fluids (not counting protein shakes). In lab tests last week all of my numbers are within normal ranges except of glucose which is only 78 and below the bottom threshold of normal. I've been having some dizzy spells from, what I would guess is hypoglycemia. I average 500-600 calories per day and around 25 carbs. I get full very fast and just can't eat any more after I get my protein in. Any thoughts or ideas? Anyone else in this boat?

Oh gosh, I am so nervous. I've been trying to keep busy as much as possible, but I've been having stress heart burn and runs (it's nothing I ate or anything, it just happens when I'm super stressed). My surgery is at 930am tomorrow. I am so worried that something will go wrong and I can't go through... I've followed all the rules and did my best, but... I am literally vibrating.

You guys, I really need help getting back on track with my lifestyle change after getting the sleeve. I had surgery in February. I can pretty much eat anything I want & not get sick, although it is a considerably smaller portion. Weight loss was slow for me after my band to sleeve conversion. I think that's what made me veer off path. Anyone out there interested in helping to keep me accountable? Have you been here? Any advice?

Just started using this MRE powder https://www.amazon.com/Redcon1-Blueberry-Cobbler-Servings-Friendly/dp/B07V2PC8RW/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1BMVQB291VDET&keywords=mre+light+protein+powder&qid=1578236488&sprefix=MRE+light%2Caps%2C273&sr=8-1 This is at the suggestion of my Nutrionshinest to get my calorie counts up - But this just seems like it will be a problem down the road - Right now going from 450 Calories a Day up to 650 then to 750 - But this seems to easy to just take this vs eating. But eating is a pain in the ass for me - But i need the calories for cross fit and work Any of you veteran losers ever use this?

I had surgery on Sunday. I just got home today. My doctor sent me home with some prescriptions. They are mostly liquid but one of them is a capsule and one is a tablet. I started taking them today as per instructions. I'm just nervous because of some to the posts I've read on here about not taking capsules/tablets right away after sleeve surgery. Did any of you take capsules or tablets right away after your surgery? When were you cleared to start taking medication in tablet or capsule form? Shouid I just follow my doctor's instructions? Help! I don't want to cause any damage to my new stomach.

Hi everyone! hoping for your help! I am one day away from being four weeks postop (VSG Dec 16, 2019) and I made myself some hummus today but the consistency was very grainy and I only had a couple of teaspoons but then I got super scared that The grains or the skin of the chickpeas might get stuck in my stitches and cause a leak or something...so I stopped eating....but now I’m freaking out!! Help!! Thoughts? Should I call my nurse tomorrow? Thanks! Neda Vancouver, BC

  15. Hello All! I’m 2 weeks post-op and noticing that I’m feeling hungry (or at least I think I am) every 90-120 minutes. When I am eating, I’m eating high protein foods/liquids. How long should I be “lasting” after meals? I don’t want to feel like I’m starving, because then I’m afraid I will overeat when I finally do eat. Is this normal? Have others experienced this? Thanks!

This is a really good review by the National Institue of Health, that surprises the heck out of me. With all the "fad" weight loss theories our there, they have concluded that over the long term for weight loss, it make absolutely no difference where you get your calories from. Ie. You could be primarily carbo based, fat based or protein based, and it doesn't matter. It is just calories. Period. Quite surprising given the plethora or supposed good advise out there, but it goes right back to pure math. Calories in, expenditure out. Everything else in pure Voodoo. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19246357

It’s been a little more than 5 years that I had sleeve. I started at 225 lbs and went to a minimum of 145lbs. Then had some weight gain and peaked around 163lbs at 2 years mark. Since then I have been vigilant and last three years been 155Lbs with a couple of pounds variation.

It’s the same place that when you are extremely nervous before a test maybe or being winded is so higher than tummy button almost at boob height. It’s a horrible horrible feeling that I cannot relieve just have to wait out. Is this familiar to anyone else with a Sleeve? How do I relieve this?

So I just saw my surgeon today to talk about things before surgery (which is MONDAYYYYY), and I had a few questions for you guys based off what he told me. Has anyone's surgeon recommended following two shakes and a protein for six months straight (once you can eat food)? He said because I have so much weight I need to lose (157lbs), that the best way is to knock out as much as I can in the first six months, and that it's "guaranteed" to help me drop at least 100lbs. Even to me, that seems a little extreme, but I wanted to see if anyone else had the same experience or is actively doing so? Thank you!

Well everyone i'm here to tell you this surgery works wonders. I was 377 pounds in December 2018. It's now the end of Dec of 2019 and i'm 175 pounds and healthy. I ate nothing but low carb protein food 5 times a day for the last year and 3 weeks. All i did was walk on a treadmill 4 times a week for a mile a day. I never cheated on my hardcore diet. I've only puked 7 times or so by eating too much since surgery in the last year. As we all do, i had to learn the hard way sometimes. I couldn't be happier and I have hit my goal weight. I am here to tell you if you follow the doctors orders it works. Having said that i did go against doctors orders shortly after getting h…

I just had surgery on Dec. 23, 2019. Does anyone else have Multiple Sclerosis? I am in my 2nd week, and I haven't had any problems. I felt hungry from day 3 post-op until I was allowed to drink protein drinks in week-2. I don't do any exercising yet, and won't except while sitting due to very poor balance.

At 12:08 Pm i stepped on the scale on the way to bed. When i left last Thursday i was at 254 so thought there is now way going to loose 9 more pounds by the end of the year, But who really cares been a great journey and what is week or two more - I went to Cuba to offshore fish and have a …

  29. Last night I ate an apple, which was really the first sweet/sugar based thing I have eaten in the 4 weeks since sleeve. It immediately made me "head hungry" for carbs and sugar. That's the first time it has happened since surgery, and I must admit it was a strong urge. I calmed it down with a piece of turkey wrapped around a pickle spear (figure out the calories in that!). Wow, that's the last Apple I'm going to eat for a while.

Hello, I am a week post op (VSG) and I was hoping to clarify with you all about the no liquid before / after food policy. Is the no water policy enforced the first 1-2 weeks, I’m on a liquid diet and I’m trying to balance it all, as in meeting my hydration goals and doing everything right. I get frustrated if I drank water than have to wait a whole 30 minutes before eating and or waiting after. I mean my meals are already liquid ? Sorry if this is a silly question - I’m trying my best. Best of luck to all. -JM

Hi everyone! I'm new here. I had gastric sleeve surgery on 12/2 so tomorrow I am 3 weeks out. I have actually lost the most weight on the week long pre OP diet the surgery had me on and since surgery ive lost 9 lbs. I have at least 120 lbs to lose so not sure why its going so slow considering I am only taking in about 600 calories a day. We all hear about starvation mode but I'm not sure if that's a myth plus were able to eat so little now our bodies have to catch up I think. I'm a bit frustrated as it seems like I'm not losing as quick how ever I'm down 21 lbs in just under 4 weeks which is way more than ive lost in ages. Has anyone else had slow weight loss even in the …

I have most 55 pounds in that time—about 23ish of that post surgery. I am not getting my thirty minutes of exercise in a day due to having jacked up my back, but I’m trying rea…

Dr. Sharma is so easy to talk to. He answered all my questions and with his patience ,he allowed me to remember what I wanted to ask. Being straight forward Doctor Sharma is exceptionally kind and reassuring. My surgery was a success. I am losing weight. First quickly then a snag. Dr. Sharma had my blood tested to see if everything was ok . He also made suggestions about what to do to lose more weight more quickly. No carbs. more exercise. He continues to take excellent care of me and is always there s…

Ok. For 3 days now I've had this pain I can't explain in the middle of my stomach. Like above my belly button in the top roll area. It comes in waves. Best way I can discribe it is like contractions. But not as painful. And my stool is like water. I'm afraid to pass gas. Anyone else ever experience this? 4 years post op. And was told I had a slight twist in my sleeve. But my surgeon told me I'll know if it gets worse. I will throw up alot. Anything stomach related freaks me out.

I had Gastric Sleeve Surgery on March 5 2019. I had been doing great. Losing from 335 to 234, I am back up to 250 and scared, Has this happened to anyone? I did incorporate social drinking back into my diet. I just don't want old habits/ways of coping to sneak up on me. Also, I needed to increase my protein so started drinking high protein coffee in the morning but its about 100 calories plus 36 for the almond milk, mistake even though 15 grams of protein? What tricks did you use to get back on track? Thank you

Hi everyone , I'm not telling anyone about my surgery (sleeve being done 20th March) they wouldn't understand to be honest Work will be told its a hernia or scar tissue adhesions from a bad fall I had two years ago .... that did actually happen so they know I'm hurting from that still . I was wondering if anyone went back to work relatively quickly after the op. if so how did you manage . I dont have anyone close to share this with other than my daughter who doesn't live close so I'll be going through it on my own. So any advise or support would be gratefulgratefully received.
