Hey all! I frequented this board regularly for many different scenarios prior to my surgery that I had on Tuesday, December 17th at 7:30 am. For my pre-op diet, I was very active as a basketball official and also playing in open gym so on those days I would add in extra protein filled calories. I still lost 18 pounds on the two week pre-op while giving up pop and all the foods I normally liked to eat. I was also sick with a nasty cold and I was worried that I might get postponed. I had an endoscopy upper GI four days before my sleeve procedure and the surgeon cleared me for surgery that day. When I checked in on the morning of surgery, I was given…

So I had my surgery Monday, 12/16. My incisions dont hurt but to the right of my navel, my skin burns like crazy to the touch when I try to walk, stand up or sit down. When I am sitting still it doesnt hurt. I'm not sure if it is the staples irritating my nerves under the skin or just my nerves being irritated from the surgery itself due to the tools the doctors used. Nevertheless, I tried to explain this to my doctor and he keeps telling me it's the incision under the skin that they pulled my stomach through, but it isn't sore, it BURNS! I think a staple is touching a nerve. I had the lapband in 2007, had it removed in August 2019, and had the gastric sleeve Dec 2019. H…

I had my VSG surgery yesterday morning and by last night I was hungry! I’m even feeling hungry this morning. Has anyone else experienced this? Spoke to my doc this morning and he said that there’s nothing to worry about. He said that some of his patients have the same reaction. That everybody is different. He only removed 70% of my stomach. My friend had the same surgery with 80% removal and she says she’s never hungry...even now at four years out! ? Trying not to get discouraged...

Anyone experience shoulder pain after surgery? Left shoulder if that matters. No other issues. 8 days post op. Feels like I slept on it wrong.  Hurts horribly. But this has been since day 3.

So taking a little break with a female friend and she out of know where goes i can feel your sternum and ribs, Kinda weird. Guess in the past this was not possible due to the insulation i was carrying. But i paused and said Take off your shirt and bra and let me see if i can feel yours! Thought it was a good come back Try and think of all or some positive things come out of sleeve surgery

I am rooting for you and am always happy to talk to ANYONE who might need encouragment. I'd post a pic if I knew how...maybe I can do it on the mobile app!!! PS.....My horse is still fat!!!!!

  15. Hey everyone, I went to my PCP on 2/18/19. I weighed 298 lbs at 6 tall. I was huge. Depressed, sleep deprived, eating disordered etc. My Dr. recommended me to the options program at Kaiser. 12 weeks of weekly classes to see if I was ready for the surgery. During those 12 weeks I researched weight loss drugs, and went on Metformin every morning and Bupropion x2 a day. I immediately lost interest in food and over the 12 weeks lost 45 lbs. I'm not diabetic but very hypertensive and sleep apnea severe. They approved me with no out of pocket costs for the surgery tomorrow at 7 am PST. The reason I'm doing the surgery is that I have a 3 year old daughter, and I want …

I have looked all over for these strips I keep hearing about and can’t find a single one. Are people just getting the product name wrong? All I have found are chewables and liquid gels. My surgery is tomorrow and I’m almost out of time to find them. I ended up getting the chewable kind for now, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to tolerate them fresh out of surgery.

  17. Started by RaeSavage,

So as some of you may know I’m fairly fresh on the post op side. (Sleeved 12/11). I wanted to feel normal and prepare food for my hubby. So I made pork steak, Mac and cheese, and cabbage. His favorite. My recipes are pretty set in stone with some things, but veggies I always taste to make sure they’re seasoned. I did it. I tasted the cabbages without even THINKING! Then I got upset with myself. ? My dear old man doesn’t even know what the hell happened, just that my mood changed. *sigh*

  18. Started by LAN2k,

So I was diagnosed by an ENT as having LPR Laryngopharyngeal Reflux, otherwise known as "silent" acid reflux... so the stomach acid is not in the amount that causes GERD but just enough to creep up into my throat which triggers this whole sinus/mucus/fluid accumulation that causes my throat to have a lump feeling and irritation. I find it affects my voice and ability to talk. Swallowing is sometimes a bit of an effort. It's a perpetual pool of fluid and my stomach is growling like crazy. I just chewed 2 Gaviscon and I'm already taking a daily PPI. The ENT said to come back in 6 weeks. It's only maybe week 2 and this addition of OTC chewables isn't helping. When I ca…

So I’m having a dull aching sensation, it only lasts for a minute at a time, throughout the day. Whether I’m eating or drinking or doing nothing at all. It’s not bad enough to take medication but it’s annoying. Is this normal as my gut heals? I kinda figure it’s par for the course, but just asking to be sure.

Morning all! I'm chronicling my journey here so it'll be easy for me to find haha. Tomorrow will be 8 weeks since surgery. I woke up this morning to 271 on the scale. HW: 353 (June, I've been higher before), SW: 327, CW: 271, GW: 210. That's 56 since surgery and 82 overall. I'm pretty dang happy with that. Weight loss is slowing down and being sporadic - last week it was almost a pound each day and then I stalled for 3 days and woke up this morning to a 3 pound drop. I just hope it continues at 2 pounds a week or more so I can make my weight for Hawaii! Need to be at 250 for a bunch of the stuff we wanna do. I had a rough week at work last week…

  22. Hey all! Just about two years post op. And am starting to gain. I went from 220lbs down to about 200 even. But I’ve gained 15lbs in the last 5 months. Any suggestions on how to counter this? I am almost two years post op.

  23. Started by Sarrus,

Next month I'll be two years out from surgery. I was doing great, then some life stress swooped in and everything started falling apart. Im hungry all the time again. Im not getting that full feeling. Ther desire to eat all the time is back. Ive gained 15 pounds back over the summer. Im scared. Is it possible to stretch your pouch back out? Will it shrink back? Have i screwed this up? Is it fixable? I haven't reached out for help or support before now, and i'm becoming more and more depressed every day. Has anyone gone through this before? What should I do?

  24. Started by sidvicious,

With the lap band, if my sips got a bit too big, I would feel restriction. 2 weeks out since surgery and I can take large gulps ( not intentionally) and no restriction. Sleevers? Do you feel restriction when drinking mindlessly?

So, December 18 is the big day, however, I’m beginning to get super nervous. So afraid of the unknown. What if something goes wrong? What if I don’t lose any weight and have to continue my bp meds? So glad I only have to do the liquid diet for one week. Even that has me nervous for fear of failure! I’m hoping this sleeve will help to change my life. We shall see! ??

I am almost 3 years post OP and have started gaining weight. Over the past 4 months I have gained about 15 lbs. I know I am doing some things wrong. Not prepping, eating on the go and more carbs. Should I go back to protein shakes? Any suggestions on how to get back on track. Snack and meal prep suggestions if you have any as well. Thank you! [emoji1]

  30. Ok for those of you who love soup and are leaning towards liquids time to buy yourself base! I have been using this commercial product even prior to WLS - As a chef this is the best you can get, the product is good and you will be happy! I just ordered this and I will tell you it will last you all year, Hint when you buy the boxes or cans of broth they have a ton of enhancements in them and chemicals. It is not hard to make soup so use this instead - Healthy and Happy! This will make about a 55 gallon drum of soup broth. elivery estimate: Wednesday, December 18, 2019 by 9pm Minor's Ham Base Glut…

Hi! I am scheduled to be sleeved April 2019. I am on the lower BMI side to qualify. Has anyone skipped the pre op diet to avoid losing any weight? Mine is not a liquid diet but low carb. I understand it’s to shrink the liver but what do you think the minimum timeframe is to do it and still successfully shrink your liver?

I had my lapband removed and sleeve done on October 1st and I haven't lost much weight. My doctor told me that statistically lapband patients have a hard time dropping weight faster than someone who only had sleeve surgery. I'm getting very discouraged and frustrated because I'm not sure if it was even worth it! Help! I don't know what to eat or even if I'm eating enough and then when I do eat I feel like I'm eating too much.

Well is anyone else having a struggle with the 4-month stall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Holidays, and I have my husband's 70th birthday party with raspberry cheesecake? I will be lucky to hit a 5-pound loss this month as I lost that before the stall and holidays started to happen. Just venting, I am grateful for all that I have lost, the labs were done this month and were good overall. I will be happy when this month of eating is done. Neighborhood party tomorrow so I will get my protein in before I go and take my own water. I thought drinking during the holidays might be hard, but the wine tastes bad now. I will get through this and next month I'll be camping and w…

I would love to hear first-hand accounts of what to expect the day of surgery or the days immediately after, it would be much appreciated. Looking frayed to being part of the losing club!

What the heck is happening to me! This is the first time PO that I have been eating non-stop, due to PMS! I thought that cycle was finally beaten! I am eating anything that comes into view, healthy or unhealthy. Normally I can up my water and enjoy some extra dark chocolate and I get through. I am terrified that I will have gained weight once this period is over!!! Help me! ( Laughing but serious,) For the record, I have been excessively trying to keep good snacks and food prep for work, per the usual. I am eating all the good food and extra.

I had a couple things this weekend that I know I shouldn’t have and woke up this morning and till right now with a watery bowel movement. The only thing that I can think of that can be a reason to it is that I had 2% milk yesterday morning (normally I have Fairlife fat free) and it wasn’t even half a cup that I Drank. I ended up rushing to the restroom after about 2 oz in to vomit and it’s the only thing that came up. This surgery has become overwhelming! I can’t find anything to eat, and each day I’m cooking 2 meals! One for me and one for my family. I run a business and really don’t have time. This has become too much for me. Can you share some meal ideas that me and my family can eat. Also I don’t meal prep past 2 days. After 2 days I throw it out. I have wasted so much money on food it’s ridiculous.
