Lord help me....

So as some of you may know I’m fairly fresh on the post op side. (Sleeved 12/11). I wanted to feel normal and prepare food for my hubby. So I made pork steak, Mac and cheese, and cabbage. His favorite. My recipes are pretty set in stone with some things, but veggies I always taste to make sure they’re seasoned. I did it. I tasted the cabbages without even THINKING! Then I got upset with myself. ? My dear old man doesn’t even know what the hell happened, just that my mood changed. *sigh*

Don't panic, as long as it didn't upset your tiny tummy it should be okay. Just be careful right now and stick to your doctor's diet plan for now.

Do not fret that it happens you have to live normally - Most of that event was in your head, As a chef you have to taste food while prepping it, but like said before ................. You did not get the ticket to the obese ball cuz you just tasted while cooking.

Thanks so much. It didn’t upset me at all though. They were boiled and rather soft.

No they were boiled cabbages and pretty soft and mushy.

It happens and you will get better at remembering. I am going to cook Christmas Dinner and hubby and I have a plan. It's gonna be kinda fun, he's not leaving my side in the kitchen, we gonna stir and bake and HE's gonna taste. LOL We are all ready giggling about it.

You are doing great, I know you are, know why....because you were concerned about this! LOL

Yeah we did!!! I refuse to have a set back over cabbages. LOL they aren’t even my favorite. They were tasty tho ?

It's not going to hurt! If they were soft and it was just a taste it's not going to do anything. You're fine. Just remember to be careful with yourself - you've been through a big surgery and are probably feeling really fragile emotionally and physically right now. Cut yourself some slack. All of us have a lifetime of habits to change - it's going to take a bit of time.

It's challenging to cook off-plan foods for others without tasting it, I feel ya. Most times I used to ask whomever was around for a taste check, other times I'd put it in my mouth then spit it out (if I was checking for done-ness), and still other times I'd just serve it to them un-tasted ??‍♀️. You gotta do what you gotta do.

But ya, I wouldn't worry about the accidental "swallow". Since it is the exception so you should be fine ❤️
