I had the sleeve done 11/15/19, and I know when they cut through the stomach they also cut through nerves in the stomach....but I need to know if it's "normal" to not have feeling in your bladder? I can't tell when I need to pee because I don't get the feeling anymore so I literally have to just go after time has passed and guess when I need to go... Anyone else have this issue or had this ??!

Does anyone’s surgeon not require a ton of protein shakes, especially the premade ones ?? I’ve heard that some do not make it a requirement. Just trying to get some information. Thanks!

I am making the whole entire turkey dinner tomorrow for just my husband and me. Homemade cranberries, stuffing, collards and all I can eat is 4 oz of turkey. I will have a taste of stuffing, potatoes, and collards. Guess this will be an 8-pound month. Hubby loves his hot turkey sandwich the next day. I guess this is love.

I’ve been sleeved since 9/24/2019. To date I’ve lost about 107lbs. I never seemed to have any issues with food or anything for a while but lately for the pas few months I’ve been having bouts of severe chest pains. So bad I can hardly move. Often they are accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Can’t say that it’s what I eat because often times it comes after eating foods I’ve eaten the entire time since being sleeved like eggs avocado and I usually have no issues. This morning for example I woke up like this. I have had an endoscopy done which found no problems. Today I’ve tried taking an antacid and a gas pill and I’m finding a really no relief. I’ve been laying here in bed…

For those of you making this Turkey day Bird - I did a little research and found something i have not seen before, As a chef and graduate of Johnson and Whales and also a engineer this amazes me! - So i start brine all the Turkeys for Thursday and notice this little note on the wrapper. "Enhanced Turkey" So i went to the website to see what the F#$ck this means. Since i am trying to stay chemical free and free of sugar the hunt was on. What is the highest weight you would be happy at if you could easily maintain it given that you were successful initially but rebounded and regained it becomes a constant struggle to lose again? I have been thinking about this a lot and this is not to prompt a debate on success or failure but really acceptance of a possible outcome. I have not honestly given much thought to lowest weight yet so I need to do some soul searching on that end ... I think my current weight would make me very happy if I could sustain it for life. Anyone else?

So I was having a conversation with a coworker about breast size. She is aware that I am dieting...but that's all. Anyway I shared with her that I was a size 36C before I got pregnant and then started to gain weight 4 years ago. Now I'm in a 48DDD. Yes triple D's. She informed me that I would never be back lower than a DD with sagging boobs. I thought that was a horrible thing to say which is why I didn't share that I had WLS with her to begin with. What she said hurt my feelings a bit. Whatever happened to encouragement. Isn't that free?

  10. Hi Everyone, I just wanted to thank each and every one of you on these pages for being such a great source of support for me personally. Having family, friends and doctors to talk with is great, but there really is no substitute for speaking with someone who actually went through with the surgery. There are many emotions that go into this process that are very difficult for the average person to understand. I thought it might be fun to start a continuing thread that will allow people to find and connect with others in various stages of their VSG process. Please reply with the following info about you and any pearls of wisdom you wish to share. Also indicate…

  12. Hi there. I am a t 3 weeks post op tomorrow. I am still in the liquid phase as I have not been able to transition to full liquids or soft foods. Anyone further along in the process that has had the same experience?

  13. Scheduled for gastric sleeve first thing tomorrow morning at NYU. Must say, I’m a bit nervous about the recovery process and not being able to eat/enjoy certain foods, but the alternative is decreasing health and things breaking down over time. Ballooned up to 311 (5’7) and decided it was finally time to fix it. Pre-op has gone well and I’m down to 280. Did think for a second that perhaps I could just continue with the pre-op process and avoid the surgery, but I know it’s not realistic. Hoping that everything will go well so I can be on my feet and back to work for some travel I have scheduled in December. Made a point of not telling a lot of people. Mom is supe…

How does the Sleeve fail? I had the band from 2009 till 2017. She slipped after a bad case of flu/stomach bug. The only unfill i had was when i had my TT. I was back at 10.5cc in her when she slipped. Till then i had zero problems. SW 232, removal weight 143. After much research and searching, i found a dr here where i live to do a revision (2.5 years later & 30lbs). I revised to the sleeve. I see people on here saying that the sleeve failed. How does that happen???? I mean i know how the band can fail..... erosion, slip, removing all the fill and going back to old habits. But how when its something that's permanent? Chris

  18. 4 and half weeks ago. I’m in the soft food phase and feel like I can drink water same as always ( the only day I felt I had to sip was the first two days after surgery). I need to constantly remind myself to not gulp water, but a bit concerned that I can gulp water. Today, I think I ate too much , but find it weird that I only stop eating because I know I should versus feeling full: am: pure protein 6 am protein shake and at 6:30 about half of a Greek yogurt /lunch out with dad :half of a tuna melt without the bread, heavy cheese ... I have no fixed opinion about this issue - I'm just interested to hear other people's views and approaches. I've got to the point where my BMI is about 27/28ish and I've lost oodles of weight. I've only lost a pound in the last 7 weeks or so, but I have lost inches, so I'm not too worried. However, I think my weight loss is beginning to 'bottom out'. Ideally, I should lose another 14-20lbs, and to this end, I was thinking of using a ketogenic diet for a few weeks. However, I've had some conversations with medical types about it recently (a retired doctor who's a friend, a bariatric nurse and the nurse at the local GP's surgery). They all said slightly different …

I'm just shy of two weeks out from surgery and will soon be transitioning to pureed and soft foods (yay!) After drinking the same protein shakes for over a month pre and post op, I'm looking forward to having more options, but I'm afraid of getting a little overzealous and starting out with something too harsh for my new stomach. For those of you past this phase, what foods did you find easiest to add back at this stage? How long did you stick with pureed foods before adding back whole soft foods? I just want a bite of chicken so bad! [emoji24]

  21. Started by Lynnbushea,

Today is exactly 1 month for me and I am down 20 lbs. I feel kinda blah about that. I was definitely expecting more. Most of the weight loss came the first week I lost 12 lbs. So it has been really slow weight loss after that. I thought I understood this whole process but I guess I don't. I am feeling discouraged at the moment. Sorry to ramble along.

Tomorrow is 3 weeks since I was sleeved. This weekend has been miserable. I feel like I have mono (which I had 20 years ago). I have zero energy and feel very sluggish. I just want to go back to sleep. I am getting in my liquids and at least 60 grams of protein. I started taking vitamins last week. I am eating 350-500 calories a day. My urine is pretty clear so I don't think it is dehydration. I felt strong urges for carbs to get some strength. I had a pretty busy and stressful week at work and I think I may have overdone it. I also started eating non-pureed salmon and chicken on Friday. I just started taking iron on Friday night (40 mg). …

  26. Started by InterceptorNYC,

My two week post-op date is this Monday. Feeling very good and doing well on full liquids, but I definitely feel like I’m ready to move onto the next phase. My doctor recommends waiting an extra week, but I’m curious about what everyone else has experienced. When did you move up to soft foods? What were your favorite specific foods during this stage? How long did you wait until moving to the next phase? What’s the best way to start integrating new foods? All advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

So it’s that time of year here in Fl where the temps change from 50-89 each day, making you feel horrible. I do not take over the counter meds, so I wanted to go back to taking my echinacea. Today I am 3 weeks post op. I asked my surgeons office if I could take it , ( I went to Mexico, it was wonderful) but, they don’t know what echinacea is...so I’m looking for help from you guys. I just want to take 2. I am not on any antibiotics or anything like that. Just an acid reducer for one more week. It’s a normal sized capsule, nothing insane. so would it be okay to take a natural supplement ? Or does anyone take it ? I really want my echinacea lol thank you!!! pl…

I had my sleeve on Halloween was wondering if anyone else had there’s around then. I’ve struggled with acid reflux my whole life and it’s been the worst since the surgery they had to put me on oral lidocaine with my gerd medicine. Hopefully it starts to tone down some I ended up having to go back to the hospital on Saturday as it felt like a elephant was on me and I got dizzy. Questions I wanted to ask is anyone else having a issues swallowing things like jello it hurts my throat to eat stuff like my protein shakes Gatorade zero water I’m ok with broth was also bothering it?

I spent a week camping and walking at least 2 miles a day. I got home excited to see how much I lost and actually gained. Really I gained weight. I am in my 4th month and know about the stall, but that doesn't make it any easier. How long will this last? Thanks for letting me vent.

Hey everyone, I just had VSG done Tuesday, 11/19/19. I absolutely cannot get my liquid or protein goals. The hiccuping is insane! I feel like I hiccup every time I take a sip. Nothing tastes right to me and I have no interest in anything. (The head hunger for the burger part of a cheeseburger is real tho.) I’ve tried premier protein, fairlife core power, lean shake 25 from GNC. My next attempt will be the unflavored isopure. I’m struggling a lot with the repercussions of the surgery and I’m just feeling really down and can’t seem to snap out of it. Just looking for support, I guess. Thanks.

  33. Hey Y'all. Had a quick question. I'm starting the process of getting the surgery. I'm 26, about to be 27 on 11/20. I currently don't have any major health problems but qualify for surgery due to my BMI being 44.2. I was just wondering how the healing process was? My surgeon said it could take up to two weeks after the surgery. I don't have much PTO with my work so I'm wondering if I would be able to go to work. I work at a call center and sit 98% of the time. My idea was to have my surgery on a Friday, have Sat and Sun off, and then request Monday and Tuesday off with work... would this be enough time? Thanks.

My sleeve seemingly has an aversion to poultry. Ive tried to eat chicken and turkey cooked in various ways (baked, roasted, pulled, stir fried, etc) and my sleeve just does not like poultry anymore. I can get by with some soups that have chicken in it. Otherwise it's painful to digest. So I guess I will have meatloaf or shrimp for Thanksgiving. Anyone else have difficulty digesting poultry?

Hi there. I had by Sleeve done 11/5/19 with no complications until the last week. I am unable to hold down anything dairy, including protein shakes that I drank prior to surgery. Even soft scrambled egg makes me vomit ! I have a pretty good case of gastritis, feel like I’m drowning in phlegm if I invest anything fuller than broth. Anyone else have this issue ?

  41. Started by lvidacovich,

Morning all! Firstly - is 100 grams of protein too much? I'm 3 weeks post-op and I notice that's about what I get in a day. Premier Protein shake (30g), yogurt (12g), Unjury Shake (21g), snack like beef stick or lunch meat rollup (10g) and something for dinner, usually around 20-30g. I feel like my nutritionist told me to stay around 60-70 and maybe up to 80 since I'm a guy otherwise I'd be risking kidney damage. Secondly - my weight has been stair stepping. I'll get on the scale and be the EXACT same weight as the day before, down to the tenth of a pound. That will repeat for 2-4 days no matter what I do. Then I'll lose 2 pounds and that process will start o…
