Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've been on here. The last time I was here was sometime in April, I was almost 4 months postOp and about 6 or 7 weeks pregnant. Well for those who wonder if it's possible to go through the whole pregnancy while still trying to loose weight, the answer is YES! I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and my baby is doing extremely well. As for my weight, I'm pretty much still at my goal weight, plus or minus a pound here and there. But I haven't gained weight at all. Surprise, right? I am too. My baby now weighs just over 4lbs and I'm nesting like crazy, busy preparing nursery and awaiting his arrival. Feel free to ask any questions related…

HELLO I'm getting very close to surgery but thought I'd ask to find people who had the sleeve and can tell me they still felt a lot of restriction post op like I'm looking at RNY but still curious if the sleeve stomach as the sleeve isn't like the pouch in size and if sleeve really makes that much of an impact on your portion control for the first say 6months? I'm torn as the bypass has many advantages but it is more effort to keep up with vitamins and worry about deficiencies! I just spoke to Dietitian today she was very full on about how hard it will be to keep up with all the vitamins and living off like 1/4 cup food and sipping water all day chewing food hea…

Hi, I have an appointment with the bariatric surgeon on 9/10. I hope this will lead to the surgery, hopefully this year! I was wondering, are there any foods you ate before that you can no longer eat since your sleeve surgery? And if you can't eat certain things, why not? Just curious Thanks, Maureen

This is strange, I've been tracking, in Sept I was stalled for 19 days. But i lost 17lbs during the 11 days I wasn't. The key here I've found is to keep on track as hard as it may seem. [emoji3]

I am 6 1/2 weeks post surgery and have lost 46lbs so far. This last week my weight loss has come to a complete stop (since I've been able to start actually eating). I don't feel like I'm eating too much - most days I can't even get enough calories in - any suggestions??

I’m going to email the nurse to confirm this but at the hospital during PAT I was told 2x not to bring CPAP because of the “type of surgery I was having with the air being blown in...” Seemed odd to me based upon what I have read so far. I’m only moderate with sleep apnea so I’m not really worried about not using it for a night. I am in a private room so at least the snoring I will surely have shouldn’t irritate anyone.

Hi everyone! First off my spelling sucks so sorry for all you reading this. Im venting (you all are my therapist right now) maybe even looking for other peoples opinions on how to deal with family. With this weight loss process there has been alot of ups and downs. Not only with the stalls with the weight loss but emotionally, mentally, physically its hard. I have found that getting the sleeve done and losing the first 50pounds ive started speaking my mind becoming more confident in my own skin with getting thinner but alSo getting angry with family and friends. My family is so judgmental! I dont believe what they think is best in life. I find ive lived in the shadow…

Hi all, from what I read on this board it seems like everyone here tracks their food intake and calories. I haven't tracked calories since my first weeks post-surgery, but I do track exercise and my measurements, and eat very mindfully. The reason is that I have a history of disordered eating and am concerned that I can get too obsessive with tracking. My therapist is also not a fan of calorie tracking. In the distant past I've gotten very obsessive with tracking, but in the more recent past I feel more a weird combination of laziness and anxiety around it. I'm 9 months out and have had great success post-surgery (100+ lbs down) but am wondering if I should rethink m…

I had my surgery on 3/20, on the day of my surgery I was already on my period. This would be the first one since. I have always had really heavy miserable ☹️ periods. This on here is something I have never had. So far this morning I have had to change clothes twice and only been up for about 2 hours. I have large blood clots, cramps out of this world. And have to reclean the bathroom every time I go because of the blood. Any suggestions??

So I was sleeved nine months ago and have not had any complications or issues. I blacked out 3x last night trying to get from the bathroom back to my bedroom around 2 am. This happened once before around 6 am. Think it's low blood sugar? I don't have any other symptoms of dumping syndrome. Last night I had 4 oz. salmon and 1/4 cup of grilled zucchini for dinner around 6 pm., then a skinny cow ice cream bar at 9 pm. Hopefully, this will not happen again, but my husband has a glucose meter, and if it does, he's going to measure my blood sugar when it happens. Mr. Google didn't have much to say. Has anyone else experienced this with the sleeve? I will call my …

Anyone else experience weight gain years after Gastric-Sleeve? I'm almost 200 lbs again and very frustrated. I know a few things I'm doing wrong - not getting enough nutrient dense foods, too many non- nutrients rich foods/calories - not enough water *I hate drinking water - not enough exercise - Depression and stress have taken their toll. Now I need to 'start over'. WIth a busy life - 4 children ages 10-30 and 2 3 yo grandchildren - 3 part time jobs - volunteer positions at church - it's hard to focus on self-care. I need help, encouragement, focus and answers to reverse the effects of it all. Hoping to get some practical advise here to help me get my life ba…

I had gastric sleeve 6 years ago but I cannot get this to change any of my information and it has me as pre-op I am 5 ft 9 in and I lost 133 lbs and just stopped... I got to 200lbs I’m taller so it was ok-ish but now I’ve gained 20 lbs and I’m getting scared bc I never really got to where I was wanting. I do not have loose skin, I kinda look like a small fat person... I wear a size 9/10 in women’s clothes BUT naked I look like miss piggy. I never got the loose skin, I still have thicker fat on my abdomen area and lower belly hangs but it’s thick. I need help, I’ve went to the gym, I’ve walked, I’ve ran... I don’t know what to do.

I’m 5 days post op sleeve. I feel like I can easily drink 3 oz maybe more at a time. I was told to just sip one ounce. Also I can’t tell the difference between hunger pains or stomach spazzing. How do you know when your hungry? I’m having an emotional hard time with my decision. I feel like I’ll never be able to enjoy food again.

Hello, As of Monday, I was two week post op. Had my follow up visit on Monday with no issues and was moved to stage 2, mechanical soft. On Tuesday afternoon, I had pain and pressure in my chest. It kind of went in waves. No burning that I could tell. Still had it pretty bad today, when I called my surgeons office she told me to got the ER. Of course I was petrified of what it could be. ER ruled out some things such as blood clot. They really couldn't tell me what it was. I asked if they think it was GERD but they didn't say for sure. They just suggested I talk with my PCP to get a stress test. Not sure where that came from. I am currently take Prilosec, on…

I was sleeved 7 weeks ago and during the day I am fine but at night I have a burning sensation in my throat. I realized this may be acid reflux? I never had it before my surgery and had I known this would occur I may have chosen bariatric surgery instead. Does anyone have the same symptoms? Is this forever?

For a couple of years now there have been reports of the danger of heartburn drugs/PPI blockers like zantac that are commonly used to help with the side effects of gastric surgery. Today Canada officially recalled these drugs due to their link to cancer. Personally, I am completely dependent on these drugs due to the acid reflux side effect of my gastric sleeve. If you use these prescriptions daily, I strongly urge you to contact your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible. https://healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/2019/70989a-eng.php?utm_source=hs_email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=77363999&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-8zLyVDfQD8I8hCu3-XeY7Fh97rFT…

Had my surgery July 1. I was losing weight like crazy. I had one 4 day stall in August- not too bad. Then Sept rolls in, Already lost 58 lbs since July 1. I stalled from Sept 5 to Sept 12 (7 days) then I only lost 2 lbs ! Then stalled again from Sept 13 to Sept 20 and lost another 2 lbs this morning .. I hope it gets better tomorrow and next week. I am eating exactly same diet religiously 650-700 calories per day and tons of water (over 100oz) , and 75-85g protein every day . On another note I have been a lot more active and doing things around the garage and yard, cutting tree limbs, etc. I know I'm building muscle and my pants are getting more slack. I am thinking abo…

Two and a half years ago I embarked on my weight loss surgery journey. The six months that I needed to complete all of my pre requistes went by pretty fast. A test for this, a test for that, conferring with this person, etc etc. ( You guys know what I mean) It all culminated with my gastric sleeve surgery in August 2017. Fast forward two years and I lost 63 lbs and gained better health. Long gone are the multiple medications I had to take in order to survive. The Meds helped with my heart condition, diabetes, high blood pressure , gout , and other assorted chronic conditions. Unfortunately, the same medications that helped me with those chronic conditions were wrecki…

Just curious if there are things that you were either 1) glad you brought with to the hospital or 2) you wish you had thought to bring to the hospital. Or heck, anything you brought that was a total waste to bring lol My surgery is on Wed Sep 4th and I want to be prepared! I don't want to bring anything more than I need (plus as a nurse I know how much personal stuff can get in the way lol). I have to bring my CPAP, so that is a given. And my inhaler if I can find it (never use it lol). I will wear a loose comfy shirt and pants to/from the hospital and obviously bring clean underwear. I am sure I will want my own brush and toothbrush (going to forgo most toiletries s…

I had my sleeve yesterday morning (6/4/19) and I have had zero nausea! I just wanted to share what my doc gave to head off post-op nausea. I put on a Scopolamine patch the night before surgery and then took an Emend on the way to the hospital for surgery. I truly believe these two things kept me from being nauseous. I know if insurance doesn't cover the Emend it can be pretty pricey. I say it is worth every penny!

I am only two months Post surgery and Since I paid cash did not have to deal with any of the Bullshit you guys did with insurance. I also have a brother 3 months ahead of me so between the two of us we got experience. To put this in perspective I got as confused and buffeted as you guys are on this site. My doctor had support groups and books and flyers and found it all to be one big jumble of a mess that was not easy to understand and Since I am a typical Male - Give me a damn list and i will follow it. So I went a different route and hired a Nutritionist in my area, one that specializes in Medical diets like for cancer! Here is the program that we got calibr…

I have a question, is it possible to experience dumping but without diarrhea? I overindulged over the weekend and saturday night was very nauseous, stomach pains/cramping, clammy, I ended up having a very large BM but not diarrhea. I've had this before after eating something/too much of something I shouldn't. Anyone else ever felt like they maybe had the dumping but no diarrhea? Just curious, thanks!

Hi everyone! I do have another question so soon, hoping someone can share what they did. I am 4 days post-op & I am having difficulty reaching the required ounces of liquids per day.. I have just been sipping a water bottle & clear protein drink bottle throughout the day & can’t seem to finish either one. Is it okay to sip from the bottle or do I need to drink/sip from those little 1 ounce cups throughout the day until the drinks are finished? Another question I have.. I keep getting a bad taste in my mouth. It’s not metallically but I don’t know how to describe it. Anyone else experience this? Thanks so much ahead of time!

Hey everyone! I’m on day two of puree’s I’ve been keeping my Portion sizes under 3oz,trying to take at least 20 minutes to get the food down while taking less than half small spoon of bites. However within 5 minutes of finishing I have absolutely rock gut. I feel a whole new type of nauseous and honestly feel the need to lay/sit down and clutch a pillow. I’m wondering if there is something I’m doing wrong? I’m following the portion size menu my surgeon gave to me or is this just a whole other learning curve.

I had my surgery almost four weeks ago, and I was doing okay for the first three weeks. Now, in the fourth week, I’ve suddenly lost my sense of taste and everything grosses me out. The idea of putting anything not milk or water into my mouth makes me want to throw up, including my meds and vitamins. I feel awful, I have no stamina for even the simplest of tasks, I can’t stand up long enough to cook or shower properly. Is any of this normal? I’m starting to wonder if I’ve made a very big mistake.

Hey everyone, I hade my sleeve done on August 26, so I am 3.5 weeks post op, all my incisions have healed well except 1, it isn't hot to the touch, but it is a little tender. And I can see a part of a stitch...and there is puss coming out, not lots, but it looks a little open, I'm nervous but dont want to over react, I went to another province for the procedure, and here I will have to access my family doctor. Do you think its infected? Any suggestions? I am attaching pic of the one I think is infected and 2 others that seem to be healing normally

Hi! I just discovered this forum & I'm so glad I did! I have a ton of questions and don’t know anyone that has gotten bariatric surgery so I’m hoping this site helps.. I was sleeved on 9/12/19 and had incredibly bad gas pains which I am still going through along with difficulties burping at times (I feel it in my throat but it doesn’t want to exit). It got to the point of uncomfortableness & chest pressure, that I visited the ER at midnight last night, to make sure it was a clot or heart/lung issue.. & I was told it is all just gas. I am walking around as required but just can’t figure this out. How long did it take anyone on here to clear the gas? D…

I’m 2 weeks into the 3 week liquid stage and I’ve never been more excited to chew something! I’m googling food ideas and drooling over the pictures like they’re some kind of illicit porn. What was your first chewable meal post-surgery? I’m fantasizing about a soft boiled egg and cottage cheese. I’m planning on setting out the good china and making a production of it. Hi all , I am new to this forum so a little bit about me . I had a Sleeve Gastrectomy 5 years ago and went from 19st 2lb (268lbs) down to 9st 6lbs (132lbs) I looked Ill and people constantly asked my mum If I was anorexic . This was so much more than I ever thought I would lose . I went from being morbidly obese to clinically underweight. I struggled to put weight on due to my job at the time being active and not being able to eat much . I changed jobs and for the past 3 years I have been in an office environment, I know I've got some bad habits and every day is a battle . I've put on 2 stone (28lbs) , I'm still well within my health weight but I'm most comfortable 9…

I had sleeve on 7/3/19. It’s 9/17/19. I feel like there is still a lot I can’t eat. Oatmeal and yogurt feel the best. You know that feeling when it kind of hurts when you eat something. For example tonight I made veggie crumble with taco seasoning (30% less sodium), cut tomatoes, cut avocado, and put mixture into lettuce. I have a slight feeling that I need to throw up. I only ate one leaf with the mixture. I get this feeling with a lot of foods. Can’t do any meats. (I was vegetarian for years). Even tofu gives me that grinding, painful feeling. I had hernia repair so that’s not it. It’s more of pain in stomach. Maybe too much food, maybe didn’t chew enough. Uggh. This is…

Work is INSANE right now, as is my personal schedule due to some personal commitments and children's activities. I've had to put working out on hold because I literally don't have the time. (This is temporary- hopefully only 6 more weeks). The lack of working out has caused my stress levels to rise even more (apparently I need the "release" that working out offers me- who knew?) and my good old standby of stress eating is on my mind A LOT. It's been nagging at me, and there have been a few occasions where I've indulged as opposed to remaining disciplined, and it's getting harder to resist. I'm 11 months out and at goal weight of healthy BMI/150 lbs. (I have set …

So I’m going to have my gastric sleeve surgery on October 11, 2019. I’m currently weighing in at 190. I had the Oberea Gastric Ball, and only lost 15lbs. I’m terrified that I’m not going to lose anything like I did with the ball (15lbs after spending $10,000 is nothing....if I’m spending that kinda money it better be more than 15lbs!) I’m self paying for the sleeve and it’s much more than the ball was, and I don’t want to be in the same boat as before. I want to get to 130lbs. Has anyone been in my shoes? I know I’ll stall, I’m just deathly afraid I won’t lose more than 15lbs or worse gain it all back!! ???
