Throat gurgling after sipping water

Recommended Posts

I had my vsg on Monday 22nd and I'm trying so hard to get my liquids in but its weird when I'm sipping Water I keep making this gurgling noise lol. Anyone else have this going on? Also how many ounces are you able to get in? I'm not sure what is normal

Vivian, dud did your surgeon's office give you any guidelines on how many ounces of liquid you should aim for each day? Mine is at least 64 oz with the more the better.

I still gurgle at times. I could not do 64 ounces the first few days. I started with 48 ounces and worked my way up. I'm 2 1/2 months out now and shoot for a minimum of 64 ounces of Water which is now easy to fit in. Good luck!

I did not hit my 64 oz goal on day one but remember you are so pumped up with IV fluids that should be okay. Better to go slow. Each day has gotten better and I am now hitting my goal. I get the gurgle too. I take it as a sign I may be sipping a bit too fast.

I was able to hit the 64 oz a day right away, but it was literally drinking ALL DAY LONG because it was just in small sips. No gulping.

Gurgled then, still gurgle now sometimes. :)

I could barely get to 500ml (17 oz) the first few days, sipping from my teeny measuring cup. But by the end of the following week, I was able to GULP down 2+ Litres (68+ oz) with not much effort.

Give it time, it'll all get easier eventually :99_muscle:

I'm gurgling as we speak and I'm 6 months out! The gurgle is pretty rare these days but happened all the tim before.

It took me a good week or 2 to get to 64 oz. regularly. I had to work at it. Keep at it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
