  1. I'm not a WLS veteran, being only 11 months post bypass, but would like input from you veterans. Do you think that all the measuring, weighing, and tracking of food leads to disordered eating? I have a history of anorexia long before I was morbidly obese so I obviously have some sort of problem with food!! I just started Intermittent fasting and kind of feel I am entering a slippery slope towards another eating disorder because I have put pressure on myself to lose 9 pounds this month to get to my goal by my surgiversary. My therapist thinks that all the tracking is detrimental, but I think I need to track for fear of gaining weight back. I'm not underweight at 5'4 and 139 pounds. Thanks for reading! How do you balance being healthy, tracking, and not going overboard? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Tracking leading to dis-ordered eating behavior?

I do see it. I suppose what I was asking was for advice from people who struggle with the same thing on how to balance tracking food with not getting too obsessed. Anyway, thanks, as always for your advice. I can't give up tracking entirely, for ever, but will focus on good health and reaching a weight supported by the professionals.

Tracking leading to dis-ordered eating behavior?

Thanks, Catwoman7! You're not being rude! I agree I'm unrealistic and putting too much pressure on myself to get to a magic, arbitrary number in one month. I'm torn because I know I need to track so I don't gain, and had planned on doing it forever but I don't want the tracking to be triggering of an eating disorder. I'll work with my therapist and hopefully sort this out! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Tracking leading to dis-ordered eating behavior?

Oh! Sorry. Yes, I did disagree with my psychiatrist as to whether I was underweight or not, you're right. This is my therapist, so a different person. I guess I'll just have to figure out if tracking really is detrimental for me, maybe by stopping for a while and seeing what happens! Thanks, again. Tracking leading to dis-ordered eating behavior?

Thank you for your reply. I tend to focus on dense proteins first, then well-cooked veggies. I have trouble meeting my protein requirements on a diet of veggies first. I do appreciate your input, though. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. My stricture was severe as well. I needed 6 dilations to fix the problem permanently. Was on liquids for months, but I'm a rare case!! Feel fine now, at 11 months post bypass. Hope you're doing better real soon! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Congratulations on your weight loss! What's on your plan besides cream soups? That can't be all you're allowed. Can you have plain yogurt? Purees? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

How much did your insurance pay?

My insurance paid 100%, for which I'm very thankful! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I had bypass 11 months ago and was worried about this presurgery. All I can say is that for me post bypass poop doesn't smell any worse than pre bypass. Maybe in the beginning it did, but at almost a year out it is just a normal stink!![emoji6] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Time off

I work at a desk in an office and took 4 weeks off. I wasn't sure how tired and weak I would be. Could probably have gone back after 3 weeks. Was still napping daily at that point. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. Just ask your surgeon as soon as possible. Don't wait until February 28th because they will need to submit the change to uour insurance company (unless you are self pay.) Good luck! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Mrs April Robertson

Yes, see your doctor ASAP! I had low blood pressure and low blood sugar so either one of those could be it, but contact your doctor for a diagnosis. Hope it gets better soon! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  16. New to this thread, and to IF. Today is my first day of 18/6 eating. Anyway, during your fasting hours, do you eliminate ALL calories or is it ok to have coffee with half and half? Do the calories from the cream mess with the benefits of IF?? Thanks. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I recently discovered, 4 months post RNY, that my antidepressant is no longer being absorbed. (I was having withdrawals). Has anyone else experienced this? I have been crushing the meds and it seems to be helping, but I fear other meds are also not being absorbed! Any tips or suggestions? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  19. My doctor requires 2 nights in the hospital for his bypass patients. I was glad to be there 2 nights as they kept me on pain and anti nausea meds. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. Hello! I'm 10 months post gastric bypass and chose that at my doctor's suggestion since I already had GERD, and the sleeve can make it worse. My diabetes is gone! Hope the same for you post surgery. My insurance doesn't cover mini GB, so it was bypass for me. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. Hello! Before my gastric bypass I used to take diclofenac, an NSAID, for arthritis pain in my knees. As we know, NSAIDs are a no-no forever post bypass. I have severe arthritis and disk disease in my neck, and tylenol doesn't help. Is anyone aware of safe yet effective pain relief for bypass patients? Thanks, and hope you're all doing well! Safe meds for arthritis?

Thanks for the Tumeric suggestion! I tend to shy away from large capsules as they get stuck in my pouch opening and cause pain. Do you have any trouble with the capsules? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Safe meds for arthritis?

Thanks,@MsMocie. I do take Pantoprazole for my stomach. But that said, I still can't take NSAIDS. My orthopedic surgeon is not up on what pain meds a bariatric patient can take, which is why I'm asking here. There might be something that folks here have found to be helpful. I am at a healthy weight now, and don't think more weight loss will help my neck!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Safe meds for arthritis?

Hi,@Lily66. I need to update my stats on the computer because I can't do it on the phone app! It's like 85 pounds since surgery, and 102 since my highest weight!! Yes. My knee pain is 90 percent better with the weight loss. Now my issue is my neck!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
