  1. I was diabetic type 2, and on Victoza and metformin prior to surgery day. Stopped then, and sugars normalized in a few days. Never went back. No longer diabetic!!
  2. I select all, or unread, and it is blank! Can only see threads I am following! Help!
  3. I have Anthem BCBS and It had to be 30 days apart or a few days more, and you can't miss one appointment or you have to statt all over! Ah, the hoops we jump through for insurance approval!!
  4. When I had my bypass 9 months ago I just told everyone I was having surgery and did not elaborate. Mo one asked what kind! I wad out of work for 4 weeks. The weight came off pretty quickly, but if anyone suspected bariatric surgery they didn't say so. I don't think you have to give details! Best wishes.
  5. I had my surgery at 57, also post menopausal, and I just take the supplements recommended by my bariatric team. Nothing extra needed because we're post menopausal. I take Bariatric Advantage multi twice a day, 500 mg calcium with D twice a day, and extra beta carotene because I'm deficient in Vitamin A. There is iron in my multi. I also take 1000 micrograms B12 every other day. Most folks take B12 daily, but my levels are high.
  6. Thanks, mousecat88. Glad you're doing better on the med. Do you know why you get orthostatic hypotension? Is it from rapid weight loss?
  7. So, after lots of investigation, my heart is fine, and I have orthostatic hypotension. Doctor is suggesting Midodrine as a treatment. For those of you who take it, are there any noticeable side effects? I'm hesitant to take it, and wonder if I can just learn to live with the OH. Thanks!
  8. I lose about 10 pounds a month at the most. Be patient, and go easy on yourself. It'll happen!
  9. I think second thoughts are normal and expected at some stage preop. How much do you need to lose? 30 pounds is a terrific start. It is really hard but not impossible to lose a significant amount of weight and keep it off without surgery. I'd like to encourage you to keep going and not have cold feet. I have lost 101 pounds toral, and about 85 pounds in 9 months post bypass. I am cured of diabetes and high blood pressure and can do many things I was too heavy to do before. This is the best decision I ever made! Best wishes to you!
  10. Thanks, all! I'm pleased that I can tell psych I'm not underweight, yes, she really thinks so! And pleased that 130 isn't outrageous to the bariatric team. Just taking it slow and steady now, and following the plan. Appreciate all the feedback!
  11. Update on my goal weight and current weight. Saw my bariatric team this week and I am not underweight! They told me to tell psychiatrist not to worry. 8 pounds from their goal for me, and more like 15 pounds from my goal. Which they did not disagree with. I was 148 on doctor's scale, fully clothed. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  13. 18 pounds, but everyone is right, it is toxic to compare yourself to others. You'll usually end up discouraged. Hang in there!
  14. Yes! I developed low blood sugar about a week after my RNY. Was told to drink a protein shake when it got too low, because we shouldn't have sugar. It leveled out. I had been diabetic before bypass, so this was a surprise! I eat every 3 hours, too.
  15. Im 9 months out, and my nutritionist was the same way! I was never eating enough for her. Average 1200 now.
  16. I agree, call your doctors office right away! Feel better.
  17. Hi, Claire! Hugs to you. Please don't feel overwhelmed and depressed. Your body just went through makor surgery and some folks get depressed as an after effect of general anesthesia. Give your body time to adjust. Youre doing great. I'm almost 9 months post bypass and have lost 101 pounds form my highest pre surgery weight. If I can do it, you can too! Slow and steady wins the race. Not a sprint. Chin up and keep up the good work. You're awesome!
  18. Wishing you all the best! I'm sure you will look terrific in time for tank tops next summer! Hoping you have a speedy recovery with minimal pain.
  19. Thanks, FluffyChix. I'm 145 and have lost 101 pounds. I feel tertific, actually! I'm really pleased with my weight loss. And think I look pretty good! If I leveled out at this weight it wouldn't be the end of the world. But I agree with you that 135 would be a good weight on me. I still have quite a fat flabby belly!! Lol!
  20. Thanks. All! I hit "healthy weight" on the BMI chart this morning and can't believe it! Went from morbidly obese. Will see what bari ream says next Monday. I think I'd be happy at 135. Enjoying your responses and support.
