Yes. Although safe for appropriate patients, it should be used for as short as possible, and a low dose. Especially bad for the elderly and immunocompromised patients. I've been on one for as long as you have with no side effects. But, that's not to say I should be. I currently have an ulcer and stricture and am 5 weeks post RNY, so I can't stop now!!!

Well actually I put baking soda in acidic food like anything with tomatoes and no longer have an issue with acid reflux where in the past I have been hospitalized for it.

But it may destroy the vitamin benefits from your foods, that said, Good Luck now and in the future.
