I NEED SAVORY!!!

Ok yall, I'm 6 days out, about to start on purees and soft stuff, which will help, but for the love of all that is holy, if I have to take in another sweet shake I'm gonna explode! I'm not a sweet person to begin with. Did any of you have this issue and can you make any savory suggestions before I go loony?

So I went to the store and was inspired! Fage yogurt has 22g per cup. So I made a pureed Raita. Those of you who enjoy Indian food will know what that is. It came out delish!! I also found some 3

  • Tomato soup (read the labels for a lower calorie one) or chicken broth. Unjury makes chicken flavored protein powder. That, mixed in chicken broth, got me through.

I have Hot and Sour Soup mix from Knorr and it is great for when I need savory. I’m in the pre-op phase (surgery next Friday) and this as well as the ‘Kitchen Accomplice’ bone broth concentrate has been a life saver! They have several flavors and are sold on Amazon for an average of $9.00 (but are only $7.00 on their website https://www.kitchenaccomplice.com/).

Just add 4 teaspoons to a cup of hot water and you’re good to go; plus you can adjust it according to your taste. I am planning to use them post-op w/unflavored protein added to the broth so that I don’t go crazy with all of the sweet protein shakes. ?

I had the same problem when I was on the 2 week pre op diet. I cut my protein shakes with half decaf (cold) coffee. It made them more palatable and way less sweet.
