Hi everyone, I'm feeling terribly depressed and discouraged. I had my VSG surgery on October 17, 2018. Day of surgery weight was 251 lbs. Now almost 3 months post op, I weigh 234 lbs. I'm absolutely devastated that I've only lost 17 lbs! I'm 5'4 have sleep apnea, pre diabetes, PCOS and bipolar disorder. I was so excited about this surgery and was hopeful most of my health conditions would start to improve. I've heard the majority of weight is lost in the first 3 to 5 months, so am feeling like a complete failure. Has anyone else lost very slowly? Do you have any suggestions of anything I can try to speed up the weight loss? Any advice or insight on why this might be happ…

I had vsg on aug 26.... at 4 weeks post op I gained 3 lbs and stalled for 7 days.....then I dropped weight daily for 4 days.....I will be entering week 7 post op on monday and the last 3 days I have gained a lb a day!!! And stuck here again. I knew there would be stalls but damn! My total loss since surgery is 27 lbs. I should be happy but I feel like it's not good enough. My nutritionist wants me to eat 1200 calories a day...I think that's crazy... too much.... I want to lose weight [emoji26][emoji29]I hear other people saying they eat 500 calories a day.... I'm around 700 to 900.... do you think that's too high..... I feel like I'm starting to lose motivation..... I …

Question for all my sleeve peeps! Some days I am hungry & want to eat all day (and I am able to eat small amounts frequently). Today is one of those days. On the other hand, there are days when i can barely take more than a few bites & get full almost immediately. Has anyone else experienced this?

Tomorrow I will be 38 weeks out from surgery and I hit my goal!!! Woo hoo!! I’m so excited, I didn’t think I would reach this goal so quickly and I’m gonna savor the moment. Next up is a new additional goal of a healthy BMI on that archaic scale ?.

Hello! I’m wondering about other people’s experiences dating or starting new relationships during that first year of major weight loss with the sleeve. Also, did dating get easier after weight loss? Asking for a friend...... hahahaha.

So I'm pretty excited. My insurance requires a few things. 6 months worth of appointments. Tomorrow is appointment 2 of 6. I think they said they would do the EKG tomorrow, and review blood work. Other than that, I have to have a sleep study done, meet with a psych, and I think a separate nutritionist. So looking for a surgery date of somewhere in march or april. On a side note, I have a neck injury, and am meeting with a specialist on 1/10/20 to hopefully get surgery to fix my neck... though the last specialist said surgery for it is not an option. I'm not sure how this will derail my sleeve surgery. I'm speculating that I would have to recover from my neck surger…

I had a VSG on 9/18/19 , I have lost 30lbs from my preop weight of 294, but my weight loss has slowed dramatically, what can I do ? I am getting a little depressed about it because I’m 55 yrs old and everything just seems so hard!

The sleeve, along with a lot of hard work and determination, have brought me to a point I never thought I'd reach: Officially overweight and no longer obese. Wow! It's mind boggling. I haven't been here since I was 15 years old. I have about 30 or 35 pounds to get to goal and I'm 7 months postop. Weight loss has started to slow, though it's still coming off. I think I will make it to my goal eventually. My mind is blown.

Hi all, it's been a while I've been on here. So in the few months I started off losing slowly, and not without complications. For the past almost three weeks I've had a total of 4 procedures including major surgery for a tumor and complete oophorectomy. This leads me to my title: I was sent home with a PICC line and TPN due to a stricture that im scheduled on the 17th to have dilated for the 3rd time. I've started to eat/ drink again so im no longer taking that. it gave me diarrhea. So I had a cancer scare, turns it no cancer Thank God. But I had a very large tumor that was discovered two weeks prior and needed to be removed immediately,I did and now im dealing with a wou…

I found these to be just terrific to eat with. I also take them with me when I eat out to make sure I'm taking small bites and chewing a lot. I only had an issue once since surgery and I wasn't using these. I also use the small desert plate to plate my food. I just wanted to share. https://www.amazon.com/LIANYU-Silverware-Stainless-Tableware-Dishwasher/dp/B07WMZR9NQ/ref=sr_1_32_sspa?keywords=stainless+toddler+utensil&qid=1570897318&s=baby-products&sr=1-32-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzM0lPNUdUWVdET1QzJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwODE3ODQ0MTE4VlVXRVMwMExWViZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUExMDIzMDc0MzhXODFXM0lSMlRSMCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2J0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2t…

Hi everyone! Just started my pre op diet today. So far it hasn't been too bad but then again I was off work since I had to get my upper endoscopy procedure. I got a bunch of boxes of bariatric soups, gelatin, pudding, unflavored protein collagen peptides, two different flavors for my protein shakes, protein drink mixes, etc. Now planning for my stock for clear liquids after the surgery. Any advice is appreciated! My surgery is next Friday the 18th... And ahhhh my birthday is tomorrow, so birthday creamy tomato soup for me!!!

Hello! I'm Miriam, this is my first time joining anything like this. Please go easy. I had the gastric sleeve surgery 9/9/19. I was 278lbs at 5'4''... today, 258.4lbs. So I'm about a month post op. At first I could tell the surgery had effected my appetite and could only eat soft, small portions. Today, I can eat a 14 oz steak with sides if I allowed myself! I'm always hungry again! I'm so disappointed in myself for going right back to my old ways of thinking of food. Is it possible that this surgery only worked temporarily? My NP for my surgeon said that I should be losing a pound a day. Any feedback would be appreciated! Is this stagnant weight normal?

My Dr gave me a RX for omeprazole right after surgery and told me to take it for 6 months. My surgery was on Sept 4th. so three weeks ago. I have to be honest i am nervous since Zantac was recalled and also i have read that the side effects of Omeprazole is weight gain. In the three weeks since my surgery I have only lost 13lbs. I have between 65-100 Protein, around 600 calories or less and drink between 80 oz to a gallon of water a day so i cant for the life of me figure out why i am not losing more weight. I wasn't given a pre op diet. I just have to do liquids the day prior to surgery. I am desperate for advice or insight because I am sort of freaking out…

So at 7 weeks, I've decided to try a salad yesterday as I've been greatly craving salads. It was the absolute worst idea I've had in a long time, and I've had some doozies! It was a southwest, spring mix salad with all the green veggies I love to eat along with grilled chicken. My sleeve hollered at me so bad, i threw up everything and felt that pain in my stomach afterwards. needless to say, I'M SO DIVORCING SALADS as of that moment! I've declared! ok ok, maybe divorce is a strong word, but do you think it'll get better for me? i missed salads so much and was so happy to chomp on some greenery.

So when I went to my doctor the other day I was informed that when I am discharged from the hospital I will be sent home with 3 medications. One for pain, one for nausea and preloaded injections that I will have to give myself in my stomach to prevent blood clots for 10 days following surgery. Has anyone else had these injections?????? I'm freaking out since hearing that. I hate needles. Mind you I have several tattoos. Lol. Medical needles are just different especially if I have to give them to MYSELF.....?????

Hi there. I'm two months out from my surgery (July/16/2019) and I was doing great until about a week ago. Then I started vomiting unexpectedly. I've been very lucky up until then, as I had only been sick once from a food that didn't agree with me to that point. When I got sick last week, I took note as to what I had eaten, and it was nothing new. The next day I vomited even more. Last Sunday I was vomiting a lot and could hardly eat or drink anything without feeling sick. I called my surgery clinic office to tell them what was happening on Monday, and told them I had an appointment with my family doctor booked for Tuesday (coincidentally). Since Monday noon, I've be…

Good Morning all, Its that time where i am starting to think about skin surgery. I am down a total of 127.6 and will be a year out next month. I am thinking about having it done some time in April when i hit the 18 month mark. The weight loss is starting to slow and the last 3 months or so, I have lost 6, 4.4. 7.4 and 5.2. Anybody have any ideas of surgeons and cost? This will be self pay again unless my Dr. Appt on the 15th of this month deems some of it medically necessary, which i do not see happening as i have not had any issues. I am just ready to get the process started. Any ideas and thoughts, suggestions, recovery time, any info at all would be greatl…

Hey all, I am 22 months about and was getting my work up for a tummy tuck only to find out I’m pregnant! Besides being freaked out by the fact that I’m having a baby at 42 after a gastric sleeve.... I’m surprised and getting used to the idea. My major concern is how will this progress? At 22 months out I am still eating 4 ounces three times a day averaging about 750-900 calories has anyone gotten pregnant? Any issues?

Good morning all! I am looking to see if anyone has gone thru the same thing as I am now. So I had my sleeve surgery in Jun 2016 weighing in at 255. After the surgery, I lost down to 135 within the first 2 years because I was very strict in staying below 20 carbs daily and working out. After the 2 years though, I was getting to a point where my face looked sunken and I just felt like I definetly didn't want to lose anymore. The problem was that by sticking to my diet, I kept losing a few pounds each week. So I started to add more carbs back slowly. Over the last year though, I have gained about 15 pounds. I now am planning to go back to my orignial diet to try…

My surgeon recommends low carb, low fat, high protein. I know protein is most important for us, but if we have the room after eating our protein (at this point I hit my protein goal easily each day), what about fats? I'm wondering because there are tons of awesome keto recipes I'd love to try, and after trying a few, my body feels even better and I'm still losing weight at the same pace. But I want to make sure I'm not making some huge mistake if I do this. Edit: if it makes a difference, I'm about 3 months out from surgery and dealing with sugar cravings something fierce, and being able to have peanut butter or something would be awesome for staving off the cravings…

My daughter is one year out of gastric sleeve surgery. She has done very well but in the last couple weeks she has been experiencing very high liver enzyme’s and Billiruben in her urine. She is in the hospital right now and they have ruled out Hepatitis. They do not seem to be paying much attention to the fact that she has had gastric sleeve. She only drinks alcohol socially. And she is only 24.Has anyone heard of this complication a year after surgery or more?

Sometimes I have a moment and forget. Then end up eating super fast making myself feel stuck. Throw up then feel kinda normal. Im 3 1/2 weeks out, does this nausea/vomiting thing ever stop?! Will it get better? I have a meatball tonight and that’s all it took. I don’t throw up after EVERY meal just eating faster.

Hi, I'm three years post op, and have started having upper abdominal pain, it started on the right, and it's now mainly in the middle. It's a reallt bad pain, discomfort and fullness which can feel like it's being pressed. It has happened a few times before in the night and gone away, but this time it's been on and off for 5 days now. I've been to A&E (ER) and had blood tests, x-ray and they can't find anything. I've definitely become lax with the diet and measuring, could that be contributing this far along Sorry for the long post, really want to his rid of this feeling!
