The What Makes Me Hungry Support Thread

Last night I ate an apple, which was really the first sweet/sugar based thing I have eaten in the 4 weeks since sleeve. It immediately made me "head hungry" for carbs and sugar. That's the first time it has happened since surgery, and I must admit it was a strong urge.

I calmed it down with a piece of turkey wrapped around a pickle spear (figure out the calories in that!). Wow, that's the last Apple I'm going to eat for a while.

Yep. Great observation! In the early days I had a similar response to fruit. Any fruit sugar (even though it's fructose and doesn't spike bg - only insulin) caused it. And the only way I fought it was to eat a protein like you did, drink water and power through it.

I think this is the beauty of the surgery if we really listen to our bodies. Cuz we will have cues that will tell us, "Hey dummeh, put that down. That's not your's anymore." LOL. I made a list. While they may not be "triggers" for me, they were just beyond my metabolic flexibility capabilities.

Way to stick the landing though!

OMG> I just spent 10 minutes typing it all out!!!! Where did it go? DId I post it on the wrong thread??? Wahhhhh!

An apple is the only thing that makes me feel famished after eating. The only way around it for me is to eat protein first then a small slice of apple after. The other thing is when I get out of the car and smell the aromas of a good restaurant nearby ?
