I am not quite to the one year mark, that will be May 10th of this year. My life has changed so much for the better that I wish I had done this years ago. First, it is a lot of hard work. I log everything I eat. I light weighs 3-5 times a week religiously. I walk 5-10 miles a day religiously. That said, I do occasionally eat foods I shouldn’t. I eat cake on my birthday. I eat ice cream once a week with my daughters. I still eat a bun with my hamburger and if I go watch a movie in theaters I will eat popcorn because life is too good to pass up and I want to experience it. I’m not perfect by any means but I’ve worked hard and 90% of the time I do exactly what I shoul…

Today is day 13 post Gastric sleeve. Still sipping an ounce of liquid at a time. Pre-surgery, I loved Protein 2.0 water, now, I can't take it. Isopure tastes pretty good. I am on full liquids. Trying bone broth for more protein, loved the HealthSmart (Baripal brand next month)powdered soups, and applesauce. Part of a scrambled egg takes 20 minutes to eat, and I am stuffed. Making really thin protein shakes. Looking forward to your reactions, tips, and feedback. Happy Pre-July 4th!

I had gastric sleeve In 2018. I was 232 I'm now 127. I have excess skin on my stomach I saw a plastic surgeon to see about having it removed. They did a nicotine test, which I thought no big deal because I've never smoked. It came back positive for continine! I'm in shock, I asked the lady how's that possible because I don't smoke nor have I ever but I'm around a lot of secondhand smoke and I roll my husband tobacco so I'm always handling it thinking maybe that's it. She says no and that I need to quit but how am I supposed to quit something I don't do?? Has this happened to anyone? I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do.

  6. What happens when two sleevers with ADD make a podcast? Exactly what you think. I'm Kristen, or @themorrigan.vsg and my cohost is Emily or @emilyamvsg. I'm 16 months out, and she's 6 years out. We've got a lot to talk about trust me. I'm a recovering Binge Eater, she's on a quest to find love while struggling with life after VSG, and we're just out here doing the thing, ya dig? We talk about weight, weight loss, weight gain, messed up childhoods, VSG, struggles and successes after surgery, being fat in the nineties, the soul crushing experience that is online dating, and to top it off, for the fellow Murderinos, we do ten minutes of True Crime at the end of every episode.…

I’m in month four post op. I ve lost 30 kgs. So over 60lbs. Eating has become a chore. I hate it. I have the worst hunger pangs that feel like my stomach is ingesting itself. But eating then makes me feel vile after two mouth fuls. My other issue is I ve now seemed to have stalled and I’m petrified! been a week since I lost anything and I feel like all this has been for nothing. I ve fallen out of love with eating which some may say is a good thing. But is this a blip?

  9. Started by Losing.It,

Hey all! I had my VSG done April 4, 2019. As of this morning, since surgery, I am down about 46 pounds. I have been at a stall for the last month. It seems that I keep floating within the same five pounds and cannot for the life of me break 200! So here is where I am at with my thoughts about trying to figure this out still..... Is this actually a stall? Or is this because of my eating schedule/habits? I mostly just eat when I feel hungry (the real hungry, not bored hunger). So, if I have a nutritionally sound meal, say 2-3 ounces of chicken breast and some veggies. Do I stop eating that meal when I feel full, or am I supposed to continue eati…

So, I've been having some new back pain the last couple months. It's not bad, just constant and annoying. Surgery was 5+ months ago. Surgeon said it could be that my posture is changing, so I'm using muscles that I haven't used, and that some of his patients did physical therapy and it helped. But then he didn't prescribe physical therapy. Anyone else had back pain after losing lots of weight? Are there exercises I can do to try to sort it out until I can find a back doctor? Thanks!

(Ten Days out)To vary the routine, I am switching between Vitamin water, Gatorade zero, cold water and this protein water: It has 15 grams of protein and tastes better than Premier protein water. I get it at Sams club. I still cannot finish a bottle in a day, so I mix protein powder with cream of wheat and drink the protein soups.(I mean Sip) any other tips?

I feel like a baby. I’m only at day 9 and it’s harder than I thought. I started out with severe dumping. My doctors thought it was CDiff. It wasn’t it was a terrible IBS flare up. Now I’m constipated. And my belly button has a fungal infection. I didn’t even know that was possible. It itches so bad. I’m having trouble getting my protein in because I’m never hungry but im having terrible food cravings for nothing healthy. I’m due for my period so that may be why I’m feeling like this. It’s just harder than I thought. And I haven’t felt well. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Thank you for listening.

So annoyed and frustrated right now. After over a year of waiting and coming to seminars, groups, pre ops etc and then insurance saying I had to use a different surgeon due to COE requirements I was one appointment away from scheduling. Everything approved and had a single pre op class left in a few weeks. Just got a call today that my SECOND surgeon resigned. Now they have to resubmit with another COE surgeon at this COE. New surgeons ratings online are considerably lower. I mean I’m not so desperate I want just anyone rearranging my internal organs?. I’m so angry and frustrated with this process I’m losing hope. On top of this I was in the ER just a couple days ago and …

I'm nearly two months out from my surgery and a few weeks ago I hit my first stall which lasted at least three weeks. I'm finally over it now - 11 lbs below where I'd stalled - and I have to say it would have been much harder to deal with that initial plateau if I hadn't already read all the great advice on these forums. When I stalled my panic set in almost instantly, telling me that I needed to eat less (even though I was already eating a miniscule amount of calories compared to my pre-surgery habits) or work out more (even though I was getting plenty of exercise multiple days a week). The disordered eating habits and punishing mindset I'd developed pre-surgery snu…

I'm starting to think my sleeve is a bit bossy! Now if its empty or I guess I'm hungry I'm so nauseous, especially first thing in the morning. It also "talks" or growls alot. So, I'm like.wait a minute I have a new Boss.in my life? Think about it it dictates what we can and can not eat, how.much we can eat, and what it does and doesn't like! More like a dictator lol. Anybody else feel.like a "subordinate" to their sleeve?

  21. One of my beloved mules is very sick and it doesn't look like she will pull through. We have been through so much together and she is pretty close to an equine soul mate. We are doing more tests on Monday. Anyway, in a fit of sadness, I ate a hunk of cheese, 2 spoons of peanut butter and a rice cake. Basically I downed 500 calories of emotional eating that made me nauseous and queasy, so it didn't even help! Made me feel worse. I guess it was a good thing, because it showed me that emotional eating is just not the answer any more. In the past, it would give a few minutes of reprieve, but I didn't even get that today, so no more. I think I will take a walk when it cools …

I was upgraded to soft food but it seems my stomach would disagree with my surgeon that its time for us to eat. As soon as the food enters my mouth before even chewing my stomach begins to protest by cramping. No matter how much I chew or how slowly I swallow it feel like my insides are being twisted and crushed with each swallow. I am bot able to get more than 2 bites in due to the discomfort so I am still mostly getting my nutrition from the shakes when I am able to tolerate them. Amy suggestions on how tlakeealte less painful and does this feeling ever go away?

Hi Team! Well, I went for a ride to a pharmacy on a nice smooth road. Stayed in the car. Came back. 15 minutes each way. Needed a nap. I am sipping soup broth, protein water, water, ever 5 minutes while I am awake. Now, with all the July 4th food commercials, fast food delivery, fried chicken commercials, I HAVE NO CRAVINGS, very happy. I am thrilled that I work for a living! Day time TV is terrible. I can't yet concentrate on a book for a few minutes yet. I have a small puppy, so I have company every time I get up to move around. I will post later today, keep moving everybody!

Hi, I felt decent the day of surgery and the day after. The first week, I was not close to drinking recommendations from my doctor. Now I can sip 8OZ of chicken broth, protein soup, cream of wheat, in 25 minutes without discomfort. Trying to drink water, up two 50oz a day, today is Day 7 Today, I will be at 80 oz of protein. Saw my doctor on day 5, he says I am doing great. Walking a 1/2 mile twice a day.

Good Evening/Morning, Tomorrow will be the end of week one of my Gastric Sleeve Surgery. Any great tips for week two? I am still having difficulty drinking enough fluids, and am at about 40 grams of protein. I do not like the taste of Premier Protein water. I enjoy Protein 2.0 although it only has 15 grams of protein. Also, does anyone have recommendations on great food storage brands, with sizes from 4-8, 12 ounces. I work at a prison, and I know I can portion out food into my rubbermaid of snapware containers, I was seeking a better options. So, I look forward to your tips and advice.

i am now 3 weeks post op and it seems my taste buds change daily. I cannot tolerate any kind of artificial sweeteners. Day one post op i was given crystal light in the hospital and consumed it with no issue, upon discharge I purchased 2 cases. Got home and could not stand the taste, it seems to be the case with all flavored protein powders and shakes...even the flavored waters. Has anyone else developed a sensitivity to artificial sweeteners post op?

  41. Started by Jebc,

Everything I read says that I should be struggling to get 64 ounces of water in a day. As long as I take small drinks, I haven't had any issue drinking. Actually, I'm drinking more like 80 or 90 ounces of water because my mouth is constantly dry. Is this normal? Is there someone wrong going on? I cannot stand having a constant dry mouth.

  42. I have got sleeved 18 months ago and I have lost 100 lbs but in the last few months I have gained 30 lbs back. I have also hypoglycemia which makes me hungry all the time. my dietitian didn't give me a suitable diet or any diet at all which makes me so confused about what to eat. I don't know what to do. I am so depressed. I am afraid that my stomach gets stretched back to its normal size and I get back to my pre-operation surgery.

  48. Hi everyone! I had my sleeve completed on 6/11 and once I was released home they advised I should start trying to get protein shakes down. I have tried multiple brands and flavors and they all make me nauseous. Will this pass? Any ideas of alternate ways until I can actually eat protein? I have tried Premier (4 different flavors), Fairlife, Garden of Life, and Ripple. Also tried Premier clear protein (3 flavors) and Protein2O water.

I’m scheduled to undergo surgery today at 10:30. Eek! I’ve been unwisely trolling these boards and now am full of a mix of relief and fear. At the moment the fear is winning out: what if I develop blood clots, what if something goes terribly wrong, blah blah. Sigh. I’m going to try to meditate and let it go. But...well...eek!
