Day 7 after surgery update

Hi, I felt decent the day of surgery and the day after. The first week, I was not close to drinking recommendations from my doctor. Now I can sip 8OZ of chicken broth, protein soup, cream of wheat, in 25 minutes without discomfort.

Trying to drink water, up two 50oz a day, today is Day 7

Today, I will be at 80 oz of protein. Saw my doctor on day 5, he says I am doing great. Walking a 1/2 mile twice a day.

I went on 6/24

Still in some pain, but I think it is normal. Not getting a ton of calories. Trying to get to 64oz of water. When do you hit that first?

Congrats on the journey ! I was wondering how is your mobility ? How hard to bend over and put on socks or get in and out of a car ?

Hi,

Putting on socks, getting in and out of a car are all uncomfortable. It's day 7, and I am not driving. I went to the market, and got super tired pushing an empty cart. I sat down.

Just shifting in bed, getting up from a couch, if you are not slow, it hurts.

I am walking around teh house every 30 minutes and walking a half mile early morning and night.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I'll be having the sleeve surgery this coming Monday July 1... Looking forward to losing all my weight and getting healthy again

How do you get all that info under your profile name with location, start weight, etc ?

To ANYONE who has upcoming surgery: (Tips from a guy who had LapBand just had Gastric Sleeve)

1) You will be walking about an hour after you wake up.

2) You will be full on one or two ice chips

3) You may feel an immediate positive attitude.

4) You are not returning to work in one week.

5) Learn to sip. Slow

6) For myself, and many other on YouTube, you will feel full and NOT hungry after one 1 OZ sip

7) Follow your Doctors plan, talk to your Nutritionist;

? Use this forum, YouTube, and Your doctor.

I was surprised I could not sip 1OZ every five minutes the first 5 days; it's critical to stay hydrated.

Keep plugging along :)

I had the gastric bypass done on Monday 6/24 and my left side is killing me. Trying to get up and sit a horrible...anyone else feel this? I’m putting ice on it but trying to staying away from the pain meds. Coughing kills me.

Hi,

You had MAJOR Surgery. You need sleep and rest, and the pain medication will help. Your first week, or start now, take a dose to sleep at night, and take a dose during the day.

Rest, sleep hydration, and being pain free are KEY. You are special, heroic just for going through the process.

Take the prescribed meds. (Don't mean to yell )
