I am home resting. First day was a lot of pain but it is now manageable. I have 6 incision 4 small ones and 2 large one. Looks like the made the incision where I had my gallbladder removed. I am onto pureed, but 2 spoonfuls of yogurt fills me up. I am sipping water, everything else taste like syrup. No head hunger and I am uninterested in eating. The team at Mt. Sinai hospital NYC was absolutely amazing.

Ok, i tend to get sinus headaches every time the weather changes and here in the PMW that's daily. Tylenol does not do a damn thing for it. I used to take Ibuprofen but that's off the table now. What do y'all take for pain. Seems we are very limited unless we go outside the box, Ie Canada for those low dose vicoden or down the street to the pot shop which I am sure our Doctors would frown upon.

So I had my surgery 5 month ago...lost about 54 pounds. Last week I went on a cruise for 5days and I drank alcohol and over ate. .infact I even drank and ate at the same time...so I started back on my diet and my stomach began to hurt so bad..I almost went to the hospital .. I worried I did damage and stretched my stomach... is there anything I could do?

  6. Hello everyone! This is my first post here. I am 7 weeks post op VSG. I stalled at two and a half weeks. Then at week 5 I began excercising and lost 7 pounds that week. Now last week I have lost nothing actually went up a pound. Is back to back stalls normal? I’m not sure what is going on. I take in 600-800 calories a day. I get at least 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of water. I am following my surgeons plan exactly. It gets discouraging. I thought this time would be the best time for my weight loss to go so well. I am down 33 pounds. I am very happy about that but I want to make the most of this time. Any advice would be appreciated!

I got sleeved 18 months ago and since then I lost about 100 pounds but in the last few months weight loss has stopped and then I began to gain weight I gained about 30 pounds so fast although I keep track of everything and I didn't change anything in my diet I keep sticked to it. I'm so frustrated. then what is the reason of the weight gain then ?

  8. Hello, So I was at the hospital getting my IV and injections for surgery that was 30 minutes away. The nurses were having issues with my IV and they ended up trying 3 different times. As she was telling me how much the Heparin injection was going to hurt I started crying uncontrollably, shaking, turned ghost white and was having a major panic attack. I ended up telling them that I couldn't do any of it and I just wanted to go home because I was so overcome with emotions and felt like I was going to die at that moment. Before they gave me an IV I explained to them that I have really bad anxiety and they did not give me anything nor even offer it until I couldn't control …

OMG! I'm so happy I could dance down the street naked! I FINALLY made it to Onederland today, 5 months post-op sleeve. I've been stuck in a stall for five weeks, teasing me at 202 and so close but so stuck and I thought I was never going to lose another ounce for a minute or two. But now I'm finally a LOSER! Yay! So excited! Now I feel like the scale will keep moving and it can go down to meet my goal. So glad to be in the 100's again!

So I am sitting in my bed and my head hunger is whining about a cheeseburger. I am 7 days PO and a thought crossed my mind. Do I crave the cheese burger's taste? Could I satisfy this craving bt chewing a burger and spitting it out? Or Do I crave the entire act of eating chewing and swallowing. Has anyone ever tried the first method? Again just curious, its 1130 where I am and I am NOT getting out of my bed to test the theory.

    • I had my VSG on April 16, 2019. I weighed in at 198lbs the morning of my surgery day. 3 days liquid diet pre-op. Until April 26/27, I went down to 187lbs. Which made me very happy. Then after that, I had a weight loss stall until about 2 days ago when I decided to step back up onto the scale and I was 185lbs. I’m still happy because the way I see it, it’s better to lose 1 lb a week rather than gain. I’m also eating very healthy. No carbs, no sugar, a lot of protein. The only sugar intake I have is natural from fruits and vegetables. • Did you go through a weight loss stall? How long did it last? What did you do to stay positive? Is there anything we can do to preven…

Anybody on here used the cpap machine before surgery and have crazy gas in the morning... I tend to burp a lot and fart a lot some days.. Other days nothing.. My question is have you been on the machine before surgery and did you use it after surgery.. I don't want to use it after if it's gonna create more gas inside my pouch and then have complications afterwards... Most likely I will follow my Drs orders and see what he says...

Hi, I'm new here and looking for as much advice as possible ? I've been looking into the gastric sleeve procedure. I was wondering if anyone here had their surgery with The Hospital Group and how much it cost? I know that there are different packages and any info about them too would be appreciated. Thank in advance.

One month out and started taking the H Pylori treatment. (positive pathology test at the time of surgery). It is not easy to tolerate as it makes me feel bloated and slightly nauseous. This can very well be because of the infection itself but I am behind on hydration as it feels like I am never thirsty, slightly nauseous and have no room for water in my stomach. Plus the amount of pills I need to take every 12 hr for this are the size of a meal but harder to get through the stomach. Did anyone had to do this post surgery and how did you feel during the treatment? I hope it will get easier.

So I am 4 days into my 2 week liquid diet and my surgery is scheduled for April 25th. I have always been an avid water lover. But lately due to not being able to eat I am just craving something to taste. I have my sugar free popsicles and jello. My low sodium chicken/beef broth but it has just not been cutting it for me. I also have crystal light and mio but they have too much of an artificial taste for my liking. My liquid diet has to be Clear Pre-Op. On the list my nutritionist said that PowerAde Zero is okay. I am in love. It satisfies my tastebuds but it also helps me get my liquid in which fills me up. It has electrolytes and B vitamins and this paired with my premie…

I know this topic has probably been talked to death, but I’m super concerned about how to tell my friends and family and coworkers. i currently rent a room from my parents. It works out well, and we act as roommates opposed to parent-child. My mom and are are really close, and honestly no topic has ever really been off limits for us. Part of me feels like I can tell her, but it’s her opinion I care most about, so I think that’s why it makes me nervous. My dad and I are hot and cold, plus he works in medical malpractice and his favorite thing to do is tell me horror stories of anything I’m interested in. So I don’t really want to tell him but I feel…

Hi All! I'm going to have my sleeve in just under three weeks. Knowing that I go back to work at my busy NYC ER (I'm a nurse) at 2 weeks post op, I'm in search of a really good electrolyte powder that's sugar free. Summer is our down season and I'll have no heavy lifting (I work in pediatrics), but I'd love to have something in powdered form so that I don't have to carry bottles of fluids in with me for my shifts. If all else fails, I know my colleagues will hook me up with a bag of fluids during my break, but I'd rather it not come to that.... Thanks for your recs.

I had my first visit with Dr. Luu today. I'm sooo much happier with him than with the prior surgeon. He ordered my pre-op tests and now I just have to schedule those. Once they are done, I do a second visit with him and we schedule my surgery. I'm also happy to report that I've lost more weight - down 39lbs since November 2012. I can actually go buy a scale at the store now! Another happy milestone, I've already started shrinking out of my clothes. I bought 2 pairs of pants on sale through a catalog and bought them 2 sizes smaller than what I had. I figured if they were too snug, they'd fit soon enough. BUT THEY WERE TOO BIG! I can't believe I'm actually losing weigh…

Hey y'all-- I'm two months post-sleeve and something a little odd's been happening lately (maybe the last week, though the past few days is when I've really been paying attention). I get hit with just massive, intense hunger pains; they seem to radiate out of my stomach. It doesn't make much sense, though, since I will have eaten at least an hour before. (I've also been sticking to the high protein, low carb diet, so this isn't a sugar crash or anything.) A nurse at my surgeon's office told me that it's likely thirst (huh!), and if drinking doesn't make it go away, then I can turn to a little snack like nuts. But she said it is most certainly thirst. Interesting: I mean, …

  27. I had surgery in February 2017 and lost about 110 pounds before surgery and another 80 after surgery (at my lowest, which was 210). In the last year and a half, I've gained about 40 pounds. Around the same time I started gaining, I also moved out of my parents' house and now live alone. My biggest problem has been sweets and fighting sugar cravings. My activity level hasn't been consistent either, but I'm more concerned about my eating than anything else. I guess I just need some motivation or some encouragement to get things back on track and ideas to get started again.

I had gastric sleeve surgery almost a year ago and I have only lost 30lbs!!! I have discussed this several times with my nutritionist and my doctor and they seem to think that putting me on a 980-1100 calorie diet is the answer. I have done this for 3 months and still NOTHING!!! My doctor tells me I am getting too much protein and that I shouldn't worry about doing meal replacements. How can I get too much protein when I don't feel like I am getting hardly any at all??? I feel like I went through all of this for nothing and that there is something else going on, but no one will listen to me. Has anyone else out there encountered these issues?

Looking for insight on surgery and some positive feedback of surgery. I’ve heard enough of the negatives of surgery. I am very much looking forward to surgery as I’ve been heavy since 4th grade! For any of you who love oatmeal like I do, and also want to get in your protein I think that I may have a recipe for you. Today I am 8 Days post op and I am on a full liquid diet. My nutritionist says that watery oatmeal was okay. So what I have done is the following: I take a premier vanilla Shake with a half of a banana along with a half a cup of quick minute oatmeal. I add nutmeg and vanilla extract, cinnamon. I put it all in a blender and I blend for a good 6 minutes. If I want to have it then I will but I prefer mine to be a little bit warm so I usually put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. It is delicious! It's also a great way in getting in your protein and also …

  35. Can anyone tell me if this was similar for them? I see so many "I feel great!" posts. ' I've been miserable since waking up 18 hours ago. I went into this not worried about the pain at all. I had ankle surgery with a plate & screws about 5 years ago - was told that would be painful & it wasn't at all. So I think maybe I was cocky going in. It doesn't feel like gas. The incision spots don't hurt at all, it all seems to be coming from the actual stomach. Every movement is torture. They gave me morphine but it made me nauseous. I've had two does of IV Tylenol. Did anyone else feel this miserable & how long does it last? I cannot get comfortable.

I had Gastric sleeve surgery since about 3 years ago. I also have recurrent abdominal and back pain. I've been having this pain for years now. So I am starting the process for WLS through Kaiser. I won't be starting their 12 week nutrition class until June 20th. So it will be a couple months before I actually have surgery. The doctor wants me on a 1500 calorie meal plan and to start exercising starting now. My question is did losing weight before the surgery ever make you feel like , you didn't need the surgery after all??? I currently weigh 250 lb. and my BMI is 41, I am 5'6.

Im not having the weird stomach noises Ive heard people talking about, its growling and im hungry. That empty hollow hungry feeling. Did this happen to anyone else? On the r/wls subreddit someone suggested it was acid reflux, but it doesnt feel like that, and I take 2 pepcids a day, and I dont eat anything to trigger that. IDK, just thought Id throw that out there. Im getting 700-1000 cals a day, 70-100 protein a day, keeping carbs under 50, drinking water.

Hello everybody. I’ve just had my surgery recently (19 April). So I am on week one. I am finding it hard to eat. While I was hospitalized they gave me broth and apple sauce. Once I started walking they gave me sort of liquidy mashed food. Like I had a coucous cream. I was operated in France and after watching YouTube videos, I figured that duets varied from hospitals and countries. However during this week, due to how I was fed in the hospital I was confused on how to eat. So I am going through apple sauces, yoghurt adding protein powder to them. And also having soups. My question is has anyone struggled with week one in the same fashion.

Has anyone gone through this and if so any success in your end result? I remember telling myself I will never let myself gain this weight back, because it wasn’t that easy to lose. I told myself all I have to do is exercise and eat small portions. But gradually it became easier and easier to get the food and the wine down and the exercise became non existent . I basically could eat anything. I totally blame myself because the food took over my life once again and it beat me. It’s a horrible feel…
