Powerade Zero

So I am 4 days into my 2 week liquid diet and my surgery is scheduled for April 25th. I have always been an avid water lover. But lately due to not being able to eat I am just craving something to taste. I have my sugar free popsicles and jello. My low sodium chicken/beef broth but it has just not been cutting it for me. I also have crystal light and mio but they have too much of an artificial taste for my liking. My liquid diet has to be Clear Pre-Op. On the list my nutritionist said that PowerAde Zero is okay. I am in love. It satisfies my tastebuds but it also helps me get my liquid in which fills me up. It has electrolytes and B vitamins and this paired with my premier 30gram protein shakes, multi vitamin, and calcium vitamin I am set for the day. I'm getting all my protein and my fluid (I also drink water, and have decaf coffee mixed with a shake).

Has anybody else gotten hooked on this stuff and does it still taste as good to you after surgery? I work in the health care field and I see how detrimental dehydration can be so that is the one thing that terrifies me and I was hoping this might help if I cannot get water down so easily after surgery. I drink it at room temperature as well.

I lived on Powerade zero during my pre op and early post op. Now I have one weekly or so, I prefer mio drops due to the convenient way to carry and all that.

Thanks for the heads-up. I never think of SB because I live in the San Fernando Valley and I don't think there's ever been one with ten miles of me. But they opened one in Simi a couple of years ago that's on my way home from work that I always forget about. I like their store except for when I don't have half an hour to wait at the meat counter for service. I presume you live in the greater SoCal area as well, so if SB doesn't have a good price on the Zero, check Smart & Final. They have frequently it on sale for $0.49 or $0.59.

Yes I'm in Long beach, yea meat counter can get crowded, i love there bacon so i always do the meat counter thing, sometimes it isn't too bad.

Grape Powerade Zero for the win.

Which Powerade Zero tastes the best?

I'll put my favorites in order

1. grape

2. orange

3. mixed berry

4. fruit punch

5. strawberry

Thanks!

Remember that taste is very subjective. Personally I find the grape flavor, well, to be honest, vomit inducing. And unfortunately I haven't been able to find the strawberry in my area, so my rankings would be:

1. Fruit punch

2. Orange

3. Mixed berry

4. Strawberry (even not having tasted it I'm assuming it's better than the grape)

6,342,198. Grape

Well I don't want to drink anything that induces vomit [emoji44][emoji40]

Fruit punch for the win

I existed on Powerade zero for the first few months after surgery because my surgeon wanted me to drink less plain water and more liquids with electrolytes. I didn’t know what flavors they were but I drank the red, blue and purple ones. But the caveat is that they had to be ice cold to be tolerable.

I like that and the Vitamin Water Zero acai-pomegranate-blueberry flavor.

I am in LOVE with Vitamin Water Zero - I have an orange sitting on my desk right now. I too love the acai flavor. I've got a lemonade in my fridge that I plan on trying tonight. Really they just taste like watered down kool-aid to me. Not something I would normally choose, but when avoiding sugar, it's the way to go.

LOL! Now I want to try the grape just to see how it compares to your review!

They're $0.49 for the 32oz bottles starting today at Ralphs markets when you buy eight or more. (For those outside of Ralphs' territory in California, Ralphs is part of the Kroger chain but I don't know if the price will be good at all stores in the chain.)

Also, I went to Stater Bros yesterday to get it there while it was $0.49 and of course they were sold out, so I got a rain check for 25 bottles.
