Hyperthyroid before vsg surgery

Recommended Posts

Did anyone had hyperthyroidism( overactive thyroid) before going for vsg, did your condition stop you from having it? Or did you get a storm aftet your surgery? My vsg is coming up on june 18 and am so scared to go in with this condition, hope someone did and came out fine.

Have you still been losing weight ? I have had problems losing weight for years due to my hypothyroid, I am hoping that after surgery this won't be the case.

I had the same problem. I am losing weight but it’s coming off slow! I’ve only lost 37 lb since surgery. I met with my dietitian and she recommended that I eat ever two hours 2oz portions lots of Protein . So Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. And in between each meal drink Water.

I honestly don't mind losing slow ! As long as I lose, I've heard if you lose slow you will have less excess skin. :)

Behavioral modification is the key... I went to my first session of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and it was incredible! We talked about the purpose behind certain unwanted behaviors as all behavior is developed to serve a purpose, being ready, willing and able, thought mapping (finding the origin/pattern of thought that ultimately contributes to certain unwanted behaviors), and replacing one behavior with another that's as equally rewarding, if not more.

Hi, I’m scheduled for surgery on June, 24. I’m so excited, but nervous at the same time.

Having another blah food day today.  My lunch has been sitting here with me for almost two hours and all I've managed to eat was maybe 1/2 oz of grilled chicken and 2 cucumber slices.  Eff it, I'm done.
