Hey I am having surgery on September 4th. My liquid diet starts 8/21. Anything I should expect going in?

I am 29, 319lbs, 5'8'' with bipolar disorder. I have talked to my psychiatrist about this already and am going to keep her informed throughout the journey of course. I am scared and excited. I will admit I delved into the comments section on a Facebook ad about the sleeve and got myself more scared but everyone I know has had great results. The only negative I have heard was someone who didn't follow the liquid diet after the surgery.

So besides following doctors orders, any other advice or tips? What should I be prepared for? This is my first surgery!

So what made you decide sleeve over the bypass just curious being that you're 5ft8 and 319 your bmi will be over 40

I have a lot of friends with similar or higher bmis that have had great success with it and also cost. The surgery center I found is doing sleeve for 9k but the bypass is over 18k. My insurance covers none of it so this is completely out of pocket.

Donated 50 lbs of Jeans and another 30lbs of shirts to Salvation Army.
Had to go buy some new clothes that I used to hate, but now kind of like. Trying not to buy too many though as I know in a few months I'll be donating them as well.

Hello everyone! I just joined the forum today. Had my surgery almost 3 months ago and lost about 44 pounds. Most of the weight was lost within the first month, and my weight loss slowed down almost to a stop. I became very frustrated. Talked with my dietitian several times, and it turns out I haven't been eating enough. Who knew! I was eating around 500 calories a day, and exercising daily. Well, I had to up my intake to 800 to 1,000 calories. I'll see what happens.
