i just got sleeved on the 11th and just got home..i am in a lot of pain in my stomach area.. when did your pain really go away after the surgery.. when did you finally feel you were turning the corner.. i need some inspiration...i have been saying to myself what did i do....having the surgery...

After 2 weeks most of my pain was gone (I was in A LOT of pain) No remorse because I couldn't stay the way I was, forward was the only path for me.

A week later I felt good, at 2 weeks I felt great! I had very little pain though

I was back to normal with energy and everything after 2 weeks. I had no pain whatsoever. No regrets.

I was back to work in 2 weeks. The first week is the hardest, for sure. Hang in there. This is major surgery. It may look like little holes on the outside, but there was major work done on the inside!

Absolutely no regrets. My life was on a dead end path. I am getting my life back and it is worth it!

About 1.5weeks from op to when my pain stopped but it was fully manageable with medication . I haven’t encountered any buyers regret.

7 months out and do not have one single regret!!! However, I did a lot of research before going into this as i was self pay and wanted to make sure i knew the ins and outs of what i was getting myself into.

Im what you call a debbie downer! I had my surgery may31st and regret every day i wish i wouldnt of done it. I didnt do all the research i should of just listened to the docters counceling class. Major mistake wish i would have never done this. Maybe it will change when im thin and wearing fun pretty clothes and feel sexy again but for now my attitude is it sucks!!

Hi John! My pain was absolutely the worst the first 24 hours. Once it was under control, it was still "normal" painful for less than a week. You may very well turn the pain corner in another 24-48 hours. I'm self employed & work from home (just on a computer, nothing strenuous) and was back to work in 4 days. I'm now 2.5 weeks post-op and am easily eating & drinking. I did some gardening a couple of days ago - light stuff, didn't lift much as it's still so early. I've been where you're at though! That first day I was like what barbaric insane thing have I done?!?!?

The first 2 or 3 days were miserable but it got better quickly. about 3 or maybe 4 weeks I felt like it was a mistake. everything I ate hurt and it exhausted me. Trying to eat was so hard and I wanted to go back in time. To all the people that say surgery is the easy way out- $uck it. I feel better about it now but still have pain when eating because I haven't figured it all out yet but I'm getting there. All the fun and enjoyment I got out of eating is gone now and sometimes I actually dread it. But after seeing what 65 pounds less looks like, I know it was the right thing. I couldn't have done this on my own. and not being placated by food could be a learning experience. it wasn't actually the food that made me happy. It was just a habit- something to do.

Give it time! I have been hanging out on this site for more than 18 months and have lost count of the people who feel like this in the first few weeks. But be reassured, it passes! You are in the toughest phase. Pain from surgery, still feeling yuk from the chemicals they used to put you to sleep, and all you favourite coping mechanisms that involved comfort eating have been taken away - no wonder you feel like ****!

BUT it passes. The weight loss starts. You need smaller clothes. People start to tell you you look great. And you just feel better and better!

As hard as it is, the very best thing you can do is try and use this time as a ‘reset’ time. Remember how bloody awful you feel - so later when you are tempted to make bad eating choices (and you will be!) you can think ‘I did not go through THAT horrible thing just to cheat on it!’ Now is your best time to be slowly learning new eating choices.

But it is hard - hang in there my friend! It does get easier...

I am a month out and still keep going back and forth asking myself "was this really necessary?" I was able to get through the pain but I also feel as if I let myself down because it seems as if I should have been able to do this on my own instead of taking such extreme measures.

One bright spot is that I just started logging my foods again using myfitnesspal and I looked back at my weight from 2011, it was close to where my starting weight was before surgery- Overall, the positives definitely outweigh the negative. We just have to take things one step and day at a time. I wish you the best.
